Traditional Japanese cast iron
Tetsubin kettle (or tetsu-kyusu teapot) crafted from authentic Nanbu Tekki (Nanbu ironware).
Based on the rectangular maker's. this piece was handcrafted
by Oigen(及源鋳造株式会社) a highly respected foundry in Mizusawa, Iwate Prefecture, that has been producing traditional ironware since 1852.

The stamp on your teapot reads *J
(Nambu), which designates its geographic origin and style.

( Nan / Nam): Meaning "South"
( Bu): Meaning "Region" or
"Section".

Together, 198B (Nambu) refers directly
to the historic Nambu domain
(modern-day Iwate Prefecture, Japan), which has been world-renowned for its traditional cast iron manufacturing since the Edo period. # KOGEI JAPAN
