Description
An attractive antique Japanese porcelain cabinet plate produced by Seiji Kaisha (Pure Water Company) of Arita during the Meiji period, dating from approximately 1880–1897.
The plate features a classic Imari-style design decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, iron-red and gilt with elegant floral and scrolling motifs. The reverse is decorated with stylised birds and foliage and bears the impressed Seiji Kaisha anchor mark, a factory closely associated with the early Fukagawa porcelain works.
