Signed W. Johansen Oil Painting Skagen Beach Scene Viggo Johansen Attrib

Original oil on canvas painting signed "W. Johansen" lower left. The reverse of the canvas is inscribed "Skagen" in pencil. It shows a quiet coastal scene with sand dunes, beached boats, and a cloudy sky over the sea. Likely depicts Skagen, Denmark, by listed Skagen Painter Vilhelm ‘Viggo’ Johansen (1851-1935).
Sold as attributed, not with certificate. The painting has an aged surface with stable crackle throughout and some grubby areas. Housed in a gilt frame that’s too small for the canvas and needs replacing.

Condition
Used - Fair vintage condition. The oil painting has all-over stable crackle to the surface with no paint loss or flaking noted. Some areas are dirty / fand would benefit from professional cleaning. No tears, holes, or repairs to canvas visible.
The gilt frame is a later, poor fit and should be replaced to properly display the work. The stretcher bars are sound and hanging cord is attached. The back of the canvas is inscribed “Skagen”. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the condition report. Sold as seen.
