Baldwin Model B252 – The Flagship Upright Piano

Baldwin Model B252 – The Flagship Upright Piano

The Baldwin Model B252 Concert Vertical is the crown jewel of Baldwin’s upright line — a true alternative to a grand piano in an elegant vertical form. Standing at 52", it offers the longest bass string speaking length of any upright made today , rivaling even the tonal depth of a grand piano. In fact, its bass strings match the length of Baldwin’s legendary 6'3" Model L grand, giving the B252 a power, resonance, and warmth rarely heard in an upright.

Classic American Sound & Craftsmanship

Built from materials comparable to the Steinway Model K but offered at a fraction of the cost, the B252 produces the rich, classic American sound that made Baldwin one of the most respected names in piano history. Baldwin’s exclusive Tone Extender innovation further refines sustain and resonance, ensuring unmatched tonal color and projection.

Today, Baldwin is part of Gibson Brands , the iconic American musical instrument company headquartered in Nashville. All Baldwin pianos are now built in Baldwin’s own proprietary factory in China — faithful continuations of the exact designs once made in the USA. This ensures the same legacy, sound, and build quality Baldwin artists have trusted for generations.

A Legacy of Great Artists

Baldwin’s artist roster has always been second only to Steinway’s. Legendary performers — from classical icons to popular music stars — have chosen Baldwin. The B252 itself has been favored by the great tenor Luciano Pavarotti and the acclaimed singer-songwriter Carly Simon , standing as a testament to its universal appeal among serious musicians.
