Grailed vs Facebook Marketplace: Selling Menswear and Streetwear

Grailed is shipping-only with a 6% or 9% commission and buyers who search by designer; Facebook Marketplace is local, free for collection sales and far bigger. Fees, trust, a worked example and how FLUF Connect runs both.

If you sell designer menswear or streetwear and want buyers who know the label and will pay shipping for it, Grailed is built for that: shipping-only, a 6% or 9% commission, and an authenticity policy that buyers trust. If you want a quick local sale with cash in hand and no commission, or you sell bulky and everyday items alongside clothes, Facebook Marketplace reaches far more people, mostly within driving distance. Below are the fees, how each one handles payment and shipping, a worked example, the effort involved, and how FLUF Connect runs both.

Is this for you?

Choose Grailed if your stock is named-brand menswear: designer, archive, workwear, Japanese denim, hype streetwear. The buyer could be anywhere in the country or abroad, and searches by designer and size. Choose Facebook Marketplace if you want speed over price, if your items are better seen in person, or if your local area has buyers for what you sell. Many streetwear sellers use both: the rare piece goes on Grailed for the right buyer, the everyday branded hoodie goes on Marketplace for a collection sale this weekend.

How each one sells

Grailed is shipping-only. A buyer pays through Grailed, you ship within seven calendar days with tracking, and the payout is released within three days of delivery if there is no dispute, according to Grailed’s payout article. If you miss the seven days, the sale is cancelled and the buyer refunded.

Facebook Marketplace is local first. Most listings are arranged in Messenger and collected in person, with payment between you and the buyer. Where Marketplace offers delivery, you can also sell nationally: Facebook’s delivery page describes prepaid labels, collection from home or drop-off, and payment initiated five days after delivery is confirmed. Delivery is not available in every country, so check whether you see the option to offer it when you create a listing.

What each one charges

Grailed charges nothing to list. Its fees article sets the commission at 9% on sales of $120 or more and 6% under $120, with a $1.99 minimum, from 20 May 2026. The commission applies to the listing price plus any shipping the buyer pays, unless you use a Grailed Label. Payment processing is separate: 3.49% plus $0.49 for sellers in eligible countries set up with Grailed’s payment partner, and 4.99% plus $0.49 elsewhere, per its processing article.

Facebook takes nothing from a collection sale paid in cash or by bank transfer, because the money never passes through Facebook. Shipped sales checked out on Marketplace carry a selling fee, and Facebook’s own pages give two different figures. The delivery page says the selling fee is 5%, covering payment processing and customer support. The Seller Protection Policy states 10% per transaction with a $0.80 minimum, charged on the whole amount including delivery and tax. Read the fee shown in your own account before you set a shipped price.

The same jacket on each

Take a $150 Carhartt Detroit jacket.

  • Facebook Marketplace, collected in person: you keep $150. The cost is your time: the messages, the meeting and the buyer who does not turn up.
  • Facebook Marketplace, shipped: the fee is $7.50 at 5% or $15 at 10%, depending on which of Facebook’s figures applies to your account, and the buyer pays shipping.
  • Grailed, with a Grailed Label: commission is 9% of $150, $13.50, plus processing of about $5.70. You keep about $130.80, and the buyer may be three states away.

Locally, Marketplace wins on cost every time. The question is whether a local buyer exists for that jacket at that price. For an ordinary branded item, often yes. For a rare piece in an unusual size, the national Grailed audience will usually beat the local one by more than the fee.

Buyers and reach

Marketplace’s reach is enormous but local. Meta said in 2021 that more than a billion people used Marketplace each month and has stopped publishing a Marketplace-only figure since, as Sherwood News noted. Those buyers browse everything from sofas to bikes, and most filter by distance.

Grailed is small and specialised. It does not publish a user count, and it has been part of GOAT Group since a deal announced in October 2022, as FashionUnited reported. Its buyers search by designer, follow listings and compare sold prices, which is why archive pieces that would sit for months locally can sell there in days.

Trust, fakes and disputes

Grailed has zero tolerance for replicas: listings are removed while a report is investigated, and sellers can be suspended or banned, according to its replica policy. Higher-risk listings get a human check and can carry a “Grailed Verified” card, per its authentication article. A buyer who believes an item is not authentic has three days from receipt to report it under Grailed’s purchase protection. For a genuine seller, that policy is an advantage: buyers pay more where fakes are policed.

Facebook’s Commerce Policies also ban counterfeit goods, but nobody checks a jacket before a collection sale. For shipped orders, the Seller Protection Policy covers you for parcels lost or stolen in transit if you shipped on time with tracking, and for unauthorised chargebacks on US orders up to $500. A cash sale in person has no platform protection on either side.

Effort and day-to-day work

On Marketplace, the work is the conversation. Expect “is this still available?” messages, offers well under your price and buyers who cancel at the last minute, then arrange collection somewhere safe. Listings slide down the feed as new ones arrive, and renewing them is a manual job.

On Grailed, offers are binding and you have 24 hours to accept or counter, according to Grailed’s offers guide for sellers. Low offers are common, so price with room to move. A listing can be bumped once every seven days for its first 30 days; after that, a bump needs a price drop of at least 10%. Measurements and clear photos of labels and tags reduce questions and returns.

Connecting Grailed in FLUF Connect

Grailed connects through the FLUF browser extension, or the FLUF mobile app, while you are signed in to Grailed. You can then list items from your FLUF inventory there. When an item sells on another connected channel, FLUF takes the Grailed listing down. After a Grailed sale, mark the item sold in FLUF so its other copies come down. Offers and bumps stay in Grailed.

Connecting Facebook Marketplace in FLUF Connect

Facebook Marketplace connects the same way, using the Facebook account you already sell from. Once connected, items from your FLUF inventory can go up on Marketplace, and a sale on another channel marks the Marketplace listing as sold. When you sell something on Marketplace, mark it sold in FLUF and the Grailed copy comes down.

Running both

List the rare and the expensive on Grailed, priced with room for offers, and put the same pieces on Marketplace a little higher for anyone local who wants to see them first. List the everyday branded items on Marketplace for collection, and on Grailed only if they are worth shipping. The risk with two channels is selling one jacket twice: after a collection sale, mark it sold in FLUF before the buyer has left, so the Grailed listing comes down.
