Move the parcel-shippable half of your willhaben inventory onto a fashion-first, cross-border marketplace — and know exactly which parts cannot follow.

43 marketplaces, one dashboard Auto inventory sync WhatsApp, email & in-app support

Key Takeaways

  • You are moving from a local generalist to an international specialist. willhaben is Austria’s general classifieds site — on 23 August 2026 its Marktplatz carried just over 12.7 million live ads across everything from Antiquitäten to Traktorzubehör, alongside 112,186 property ads and 208,637 vehicle ads (willhaben Marktplatz, read 23 Aug 2026). Vinted sells second-hand goods to members in 26 countries and moved €10.8bn of gross merchandise value in 2025 (Vinted Group newsroom).
  • Only part of your stock can follow you. Vinted’s catalogue has expanded well past clothing — Home, Electronics, Pet care, DIY tools and Office supplies all have real categories now — but there is no home for a car, a flat, a job ad, a service, a live animal, a mattress or a wardrobe. Roughly 2.43 million of willhaben’s Marktplatz ads sit in Mode / Accessoires; that is the part of your inventory Vinted was built for.
  • Neither platform charges you a selling commission. PayLivery is free for the willhaben seller — the buyer pays postage plus a buyer-protection fee of at least €1.99 or 4.5% of the item price (willhaben help). On Vinted the buyer pays roughly 5% plus €0.70 (Vinted help). Your take-home is the price you set, on both.
  • The real gain is the border. PayLivery works only inside Austria (willhaben help). Vinted’s Austrian shipping is networked with Germany, Italy and France, on top of Österreichische Post, UPS, GLS, Hermes and DPD domestically (Vinted help).
  • FLUF Connect does not mark a willhaben ad as sold. willhaben is a relisting-only channel for us. When a jumper sells on Vinted, FLUF cannot pull the willhaben ad down — you do that yourself. Read the “What Syncs And What Does Not” section before you rely on anything.
  • Vinted needs the FLUF Chrome extension open for every listing action because Vinted has no third-party seller API. willhaben is connected once through the extension and then runs without it. FLUF costs £1 for 7 days, then plans from £9/month (Starter — 300 active products). There is no free option.

Why An Austrian Generalist Seller Opens A Vinted Account

If you sell in Austria, you already sell on willhaben. That is not a marketing claim, it is the shape of the market: the site has been the country’s reach leader among individual online offerings for years — an ÖWA measurement put it at more than 4.4 million unique users and 62.66% reach in April 2022 (OTS press release). It is majority-owned by Styria Media Group, which took Adevinta’s stake out in partnership with Sprints Capital in 2025 (Sprints and Styria announcement, March 2025). Four verticals sit under one roof: Marktplatz, Immobilien, Auto & Motor and Jobs.

That breadth is exactly the problem for a fashion seller. On 23 August 2026 the Marktplatz filter showed 2,434,954 live ads under Mode / Accessoires — but also 1,780,593 under Baby / Kind, 1,633,816 under Wohnen / Haushalt / Gastronomie and 1,271,908 under Antiquitäten / Kunst. Your vintage Trachtenjacke is not competing with other Trachtenjacken for attention. It is competing with a plasma television and a pallet of larch decking, on a site that also has to sell flats in Graz and a van in Linz.

Vinted inverts every one of those defaults. Everyone browsing is browsing second-hand goods, mostly fashion. Search is built around brand, size and condition rather than postcode. Postage is the assumption, not the exception, and the platform buys the label as part of checkout. And crucially for a country of nine million people, Austrian Vinted listings are visible to buyers in other markets: Vinted’s own shipping help states that Austria is networked with Germany, Italy and France, and Österreichische Post now carries Vinted parcels both within Austria and to Germany (Vinted help: Versand mit der Österreichischen Post). The buyer pool for a niche size stops being “Austrians who will drive to you” and becomes “everyone in the connected markets who will pay for a parcel”.

There is a second, quieter reason. willhaben actively reclassifies high-volume private sellers as commercial. Its help centre lists the criteria plainly: offering services, self-produced goods, stock from a business or insolvency sale, and “Privatpersonen die regelmäßig und/oder in hohem Volumen Waren anbieten” — decided “unabhängig von Steuerpflicht und Besitz eines Gewerbescheins” (willhaben help: Gewerbliche Einstufung). Once you are on the commercial side you need paid ad bookings, a UID number and a company profile, plus the duties of an Unternehmer — Impressum, withdrawal rights, VAT — and willhaben’s AGB confirm that the UGB rules apply where consumer-protection law does not (willhaben AGB). It usually arrives as a surprise, in the form of a rejected ad. Diversifying the fashion half of your stock onto a platform where volume is the norm takes some of that pressure off.

What Can Move And What Cannot

Vinted’s catalogue in 2026 is much wider than the “app for selling old jeans” reputation suggests. Alongside women’s, men’s and children’s fashion, shoes, bags, accessories and beauty, there is a full Home category covering home accessories, textiles, tableware, small kitchen appliances, cookware, kitchen tools, celebrations and holidays, household care, DIY tools and hardware, garden and outdoor, pet care and office supplies (Vinted help: Home category). There is a twelve-part Electronics category covering phones, tablets, TV and home cinema, audio, video games and consoles, wearables, cameras, computers, smart home devices and batteries (Vinted help: Electronics category). Books, films and music have a home too.

Map that against the willhaben Marktplatz tree and a surprising amount lines up: Mode / Accessoires, Uhren / Schmuck, Beauty, Bücher / Filme / Musik, Spielen / Spielzeug, Games / Konsolen, Computer / Software, Kameras / TV / Multimedia and much of Wohnen / Haushalt. That is the majority of a typical private seller’s ad count.

What does not move, and will not, is the part of willhaben that makes it Austria’s generalist:

  • Vehicles and property. Auto & Motor and Immobilien are separate willhaben verticals with their own paid pricing. Vinted has no category for them at all.
  • Jobs and services. willhaben carries Dienstleistungen ads and a Jobs vertical. Vinted is a goods marketplace; a listing that is really a service will be hidden or removed.
  • Live animals. Tiere / Tierbedarf held 132,614 willhaben ads on the day we checked. Vinted’s Pet care subcategory covers beds, bowls, carriers, clothing and toys — the animal itself is not sellable.
  • Large furniture and mattresses. Vinted’s Home category explicitly excludes large furniture, adult mattresses, inflatable mattresses, freestanding floor clocks and large carpets. Your Ikea Pax and your Eckcouch stay on willhaben, where local pickup makes them sellable in the first place.
  • Anything that is really a local-pickup item. A 40 kg box of Fliesen, a Brennholz load, a child’s bicycle. Even where Vinted has a nominal category, the economics collapse once a courier is involved — and Vinted makes you pick a package size at upload, with no “Selbstabholung” to fall back on.
  • Food, drink, tobacco, medicines and veterinary products. Prohibited on Vinted regardless of category.

A useful rule of thumb: if the ad currently says “nur Selbstabholung”, it is a willhaben item, not a Vinted item. If it fits in a parcel and someone would search for it by brand, it is a Vinted item. Everything in between is a judgement call about postage cost against sale price.

One more constraint: willhaben states that each ad or article may only be listed once at the same time (willhaben help). That governs duplicate ads within willhaben, not selling the same item elsewhere — but you cannot run one coat as three willhaben ads to game the ranking.

How Products Move From Your Ads To Vinted

FLUF Connect keeps one product record per item and pushes it out to the channels you have switched on. The direction of travel here is willhaben-shaped stock going out to Vinted, with the FLUF record sitting in the middle as the version you actually edit.

Setup runs in this order.

  1. Connect willhaben. This is a one-time link through the FLUF Chrome extension. willhaben is live self-serve and Austria-only in FLUF. After the initial connection, the extension does not need to be open for willhaben work.
  2. Connect Vinted. Also self-serve, and available to FLUF across 27 Vinted countries including Austria. Vinted is different in one important way: it has no third-party seller API, so every Vinted listing action runs through the FLUF Chrome extension in your own signed-in browser. If the extension is closed, Vinted work waits in the queue rather than failing.
  3. Build the product record. A willhaben ad is a title, a body of German prose, a price, a Bundesland and some photos. Vinted wants structured attributes. You fill the gaps once, in FLUF, and they stay filled.
  4. Choose what to push. Filter your catalogue down to the parcel-shippable, brand-searchable subset from the section above and push only those. Pushing your whole willhaben inventory at Vinted produces a queue full of items that Vinted has nowhere to put.
  5. Let the queue drain. Vinted listings are created one at a time through the extension, with deliberate pacing. A batch of 60 items is an evening’s background work.

The same record feeds other channels: see willhaben to eBay for the Item Specifics route, or willhaben to Depop if your stock skews streetwear; the full set is on the crosslisting overview. Coming the other way — a Vinted seller adding Austrian local reach — read Vinted to willhaben, because the constraints reverse.

Field And Category Mapping

willhaben ads are loose. Vinted uploads are strict. Most of the work of this migration is turning the first into the second, and the table below is where the effort actually lands.

willhaben ad field Vinted field What you have to do
Anzeigentitel Title Mostly a straight copy. willhaben titles often carry location or “Selbstabholung” — strip those, they are meaningless to a buyer in Hamburg. Lead with brand and item type.
Beschreibung (free German prose) Description Copies across, but Vinted buyers scan for measurements, flaws and fit. Pull anything that only made sense to a local collector (“Besichtigung nach Vereinbarung”) and add what a remote buyer needs.
Preis Price Copies. See the pricing section — your net is the same on both, so a straight copy is defensible, though Vinted’s cross-border audience often supports a firmer price than a local pickup ad.
Kategorie (e.g. Mode / Accessoires → Damen → Jacken) Catalogue path (Women → Clothing → Coats & jackets → …) Mapped, not copied. Vinted’s tree is deeper and fashion-native. Expect to confirm the leaf category on first push, after which FLUF reuses the mapping.
— (willhaben has no brand field on most Marktplatz ads) Brand — mandatory You must supply it. Vinted requires a brand selection or an explicit “No brand” (Vinted help: uploading step by step). Brand buried in your German description text does not count.
— (size usually written into the description) Size Has to be structured. Austrian sellers routinely write “Gr. 38” in prose; Vinted’s size filter cannot read prose, and size is how most Vinted buyers browse.
Zustand (neu / gebraucht, loosely used) Condition — mandatory Mapped onto Vinted’s condition scale. “Gebraucht” is too coarse; pick the honest rung, because the buyer-protection process compares the item to what you claimed.
Bilder (min. 1 in FLUF’s willhaben channel) Photos — min. 2 in FLUF’s Vinted channel, up to 20 on Vinted This is the single most common blocker. A willhaben ad with exactly one photo cannot be crosslisted to Vinted through FLUF. You will need to photograph a second angle — realistically the back of the garment, plus a close-up of the label. Do the photo pass before the push, not during it.
— (no equivalent) Package size — mandatory Vinted asks for a parcel size at upload so it can price the label. willhaben ads built for Selbstabholung carry nothing you can derive this from. Set it per item; getting it wrong costs you at the counter.
Bundesland / PLZ — (not used) Dropped. Vinted matches on catalogue and postage, not geography. This is the point of the exercise.
PayLivery on/off — (postage is always on) Nothing to map. Vinted has no non-shipping mode.
Zusatzprodukte (TOP Anzeige, vorreihen, farblich hervorheben) — (no equivalent) willhaben’s paid visibility products — TOP Anzeige Startseite, TOP Anzeige Suchergebnisse, Anzeige vorreihen weekly or one-off, Farblich hervorheben and the bundled “Superschnell verkaufen” — are bought inside willhaben and priced in the booking flow (willhaben help: Zusatzprodukte). They do not cross over, and FLUF does not buy them for you.

Photo standards differ too. willhaben accepts images up to 20 MB and 4000 × 4000 px, then converts to 1024 × 768 at 4:3 for the browser while the app crops square from the centre (willhaben help: Fotogröße). A wide 4:3 shot of a jacket against a Wohnzimmer wall reads fine there; on Vinted’s square grid, where a buyer decides in half a second among a hundred similar coats, it reads as a cropped mess. Reshoot the hero square, add the reverse, add the care label — Vinted’s guidance for branded items is close-ups of labels and logos, and you can attach up to 20 images.

What Syncs And What Does Not

Read this section twice. The asymmetry between the two channels is what is most likely to cost you money, and it is a limit of what willhaben exposes rather than something we are hiding.

Capability in FLUF Connect willhaben (source) Vinted (destination)
Create listings Yes, self-serve Yes, self-serve — extension required for every action
Relisting Yes — the supported feature Yes
Offer management No Yes
Order sync No Yes
Mark as sold / automatic delist No Yes
Minimum photos 1 2
Needs the extension open for each listing No — connected once, then runs without it Yes, always

Stated without hedging: when an item sells on Vinted, FLUF Connect cannot take the willhaben ad down for you. willhaben is a relisting-only channel in FLUF. There is no order feed coming back from it and no delist call going out to it. Nothing in the dashboard will quietly clean up after the sale.

So the willhaben ad stays live until you remove it. In practice that means one of two habits:

  • Delete or deactivate the willhaben ad by hand as soon as the Vinted sale notification lands. willhaben lets you deactivate an ad at any point within its runtime, though the runtime keeps counting down while it is off.
  • Mark the item sold in FLUF, which correctly delists it on the channels that support mark-as-sold, and treat the willhaben tab as a manual chore you do at the same moment.

The failure mode is not abstract: an Austrian buyer enquires about a coat that shipped to Munich last Tuesday. Set the rule now — Vinted sale notification and willhaben tab, same minute, every time.

The reverse direction has the same gap. If the item sells on willhaben — very likely, since your ads there are established — FLUF will not learn about it, so the Vinted listing needs pulling by hand too. Until willhaben exposes order data to third parties, this pair is create-and-relist automation with a manual sold step.

Before And After: One Week Of Listing

Before. Twenty items come out of a Dachboden clearance. You do twenty willhaben ads: title, description, category, price, photos, PayLivery on or off, publish — three to five minutes each. If you later try Vinted, you retype all twenty from scratch, with different mandatory fields, and then maintain two sets of prices and two answers to “is this still available”.

After. The same twenty items go in once, as FLUF product records. You do the photo pass up front — two minimum, square hero, label close-up — and you fill brand, size and condition while the items are physically in front of you, which is the only time filling them is easy. Then you push: willhaben gets all twenty; Vinted gets the fourteen that are parcel-shippable fashion and homeware. Prices and descriptions are edited in one place and pushed out. Vinted offers and Vinted orders come back into the dashboard. willhaben does not, and you keep the manual delist habit.

The honest accounting: FLUF does not save you the photography or the attribute entry — Vinted’s mandatory fields are mandatory whoever types them. What it saves is the retyping, the price drift between platforms, and the relisting cycle below.

FLUF Connect relisting settings showing automatic relist rules configured per channel
Relisting rules in FLUF Connect. Both willhaben and Vinted support relisting; the schedules are set per channel.

Relisting On Both Sides

Relisting matters more on this pair than on most, because both platforms decay listings by design.

On willhaben the runtime of an ad is fixed. The help centre states it runs 30 days from activation, that buying a Zusatzprodukt does not extend it, that deactivating the ad does not pause the clock, and that you cannot extend an ad before the 30 days are up — it has to be republished afterwards (willhaben help: Anzeigenlaufzeit). For a seller with 200 ads that is an unremitting drip of expiries. Relisting is the one thing FLUF’s willhaben channel does support, and it is the reason most Austrian sellers connect it at all.

Vinted has no expiry, but it does have a freshness ranking: new uploads surface, month-old items sink. Vinted supports relisting through FLUF too, so one automation covers both.

Automation like this — relisting, offer management, bulk operations, sync — is included in every FLUF plan rather than sold as a paid add-on. Two cautions specific to this pair. First, Vinted relisting runs through the extension like everything else on that channel, so relists happen when your browser is available, not on a server timetable. Second, do not relist an item on willhaben that you have already sold on Vinted. That is the mark-as-sold gap biting you again, in slow motion.

Pricing, Fees And What You Actually Keep

The pleasant surprise for an Austrian seller running both platforms is that the seller economics barely differ.

On willhaben, private Marktplatz ads are the free part of the business; the money is in Immobilien, Auto & Motor, Jobs, dealer bookings and Zusatzprodukte. PayLivery, willhaben’s integrated payment and shipping, is stated flatly in the help centre as “für die:den Verkäufer:in: ist PayLivery völlig kostenlos”. The buyer carries the postage plus the buyer-protection cost, at a minimum of €1.99 or 4.5% of the item price. PayLivery is available across most Marktplatz categories — the whole of Mode / Accessoires, Bücher / Filme / Musik, Kameras / TV / Multimedia, Spielen / Spielzeug and Uhren / Schmuck, with long exclusion lists elsewhere (willhaben help: PayLivery categories). And it is domestic: shipping across the Austrian border via PayLivery is not possible.

On Vinted, sellers pay no listing fee and no commission — the buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee, described by Vinted as typically 5% of the item or bundle price plus a fixed €0.70, and pays for postage at checkout, at which point the label is bought for you. You must use the Vinted-generated label; using your own gets the order cancelled.

So on both platforms the price you set is roughly the money you receive. What differs is the buyer’s total and the reachable audience: a €40 jacket costs an Austrian PayLivery buyer €40 plus postage plus €1.99, and a Vinted buyer €40 plus postage plus about €2.70 — but the Vinted buyer might be in Milan.

Two costs sit outside the platforms. The first is FLUF: £1 for 7 days, then plans from £9/month for Starter (300 active products, sales detection every 90 minutes), £19/month for Growth (1,000 products, 60 minutes), £49/month for Seller (2,500 products, 45 minutes), £99/month for Pro and £299/month for Super Seller with unlimited products and 15-minute detection. Annual billing saves 40%. There is no free option.

The second is tax reporting, and it applies to both platforms equally, so adding Vinted does not create a new exposure — it just splits your activity across two reporting streams. Austria implemented DAC7 as the Digitale Plattformen-Meldepflichtgesetz (DPMG), in force since 1 January 2023. A seller is a “freigestellter Anbieter” — excluded from the report — only where, on that platform and in that reporting period, they made fewer than 30 relevant transactions and received under €2,000 in total. Exceed either and the platform reports you to the Finanzverwaltung; platform operators file via FinanzOnline by 31 January of the following year (BMF: Häufig gestellte Fragen zum DPMG, PDF). The thresholds are per platform, so 25 sales on willhaben plus 25 on Vinted is 50 sales that neither platform reports — and 50 sales that you are still responsible for declaring if they are taxable. Being reported is not the same as owing tax; not being reported is not the same as owing none.

If you are weighing this move against staying put, the side-by-side is in willhaben vs Vinted. If you are thinking about German-market reach specifically, Kleinanzeigen is the other obvious direction and willhaben vs Kleinanzeigen covers where the two classifieds models diverge. The short version for a fashion seller: Vinted gives you a specialist audience across borders with postage solved; willhaben gives you the whole of Austria with pickup solved. Keep both, be clear-eyed about the missing mark-as-sold, and only move the stock that fits in a parcel.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. willhaben is a relisting-only channel in FLUF Connect — there is no order sync and no mark-as-sold. When an item sells on Vinted, you have to deactivate or delete the willhaben ad yourself. Marking the item sold in FLUF will delist it on the channels that do support mark-as-sold, but willhaben is not one of them. Build the habit of clearing the willhaben ad the moment the Vinted sale notification arrives.

Yes, for every listing action. Vinted has no third-party seller API, so creates, edits, relists and delists all run through the extension in your own signed-in browser. willhaben is different: it is connected once through the extension, and after that it does not need the extension open.

Not as they are. FLUF's willhaben channel accepts a minimum of one photo, but the Vinted channel requires a minimum of two. Any single-photo ad needs at least one more image before it can be pushed. In practice you want more than two anyway — Vinted allows up to 20, and a square hero shot plus the reverse plus a close-up of the brand label sells far better than one wide 4:3 photo.

Anything that fits in a parcel and would be searched for by brand. Vinted's catalogue in 2026 covers fashion, shoes, bags, accessories, beauty, books, films and music, toys, games and consoles, a wide Home category and a twelve-part Electronics category. It has no category for vehicles, property, jobs, services or live animals, and it excludes large furniture, adult and inflatable mattresses, large carpets, food, drink, tobacco and medicines. If your ad says 'nur Selbstabholung', it is a willhaben item.

Neither charges the seller a commission. On willhaben, PayLivery is free for the seller; the buyer pays postage plus a buyer-protection fee of at least 1.99 euros or 4.5 per cent of the item price. On Vinted, sellers pay no listing or selling fee; the buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee of typically 5 per cent plus 70 cents, and pays for the shipping label at checkout. FLUF Connect itself is £1 for 7 days, then plans from £9/month for Starter (300 active products). There is no free option.

Not through PayLivery. willhaben's help centre states that PayLivery can only be used for sales within Austria and that shipping across the Austrian border via PayLivery is not possible. Vinted's Austrian shipping is networked with Germany, Italy and France, and Österreichische Post carries Vinted parcels domestically and to Germany, alongside UPS, GLS, Hermes Paket Österreich and DPD. Cross-border reach is the main reason an Austrian seller adds Vinted.

Possibly, and it would have anyway. Austria implemented DAC7 as the Digitale Plattformen-Meldepflichtgesetz (DPMG). A seller is exempt from the report only where, on that platform in that period, they made fewer than 30 relevant transactions and received under 2,000 euros in total. The thresholds are per platform, so splitting volume across willhaben and Vinted can keep you under both — but being unreported is not the same as owing no tax. Declare what is taxable.

willhaben reclassifies sellers as gewerblich on criteria including offering services, selling self-produced goods, stock from a business or insolvency sale, and private individuals who offer goods regularly or in high volume. Its help centre states explicitly that this decision is made independently of your tax status or whether you hold a Gewerbeschein. Once classified you need commercial ad bookings, a UID number and a company profile, plus the Impressum and withdrawal-rights obligations that come with trading as an Unternehmer.

willhaben ads run 30 days from activation; buying a Zusatzprodukt does not extend that, deactivating does not pause the clock, and you cannot extend before the 30 days are up — the ad has to be republished. Vinted items do not expire but sink in the freshness ranking. FLUF supports relisting on both, and relisting is included in every plan rather than sold as an add-on. Do not relist on willhaben an item you have already sold on Vinted.
