Tilt vs Depop: Live Auctions or Fixed Listings for UK Fashion Resellers

What each takes from a sale, who buys where, how much time each one asks of you, and how to run both without selling the same jacket twice.

Key Takeaways

  • Tilt is a live-auction app. You sell on camera, items go in about ten seconds each, and Tilt takes 2% plus 50p of each sale.
  • Depop is a fixed-price marketplace with 56 million registered users. UK sellers pay no selling fee, only payment processing.
  • Tilt suits sellers with a stack of stock and an evening free to host. Depop suits anyone who would rather photograph, list and wait.
  • FLUF picks up sales on both apps and takes the item down on the other, so a Depop shop and a Tilt show can share one stock pile.

Which one is for you

The quickest test is your evenings. If you can sit in front of a phone for an hour with thirty or forty items beside you and talk each one through, Tilt turns that hour into sales. If you would rather photograph things once, write a description and let the app find the buyer over the following weeks, Depop is built for that.

Stock matters too. Tilt’s own seller page lists fashion, vintage and streetwear, toys and collectibles, trading cards and pack breaks, and it points at high-volume resellers who need to turn inventory quickly. Depop’s strength is single pieces with a story: a Y2K top, a pair of worn-in Levi’s, a band tee. One-off items do well on both, but a bin of forty similar items sells faster live.

How selling works on each

On Tilt you host a live show. Tilt describes it as around ten seconds of bidding per item, with a chat of regulars competing to win first, and auctions can start from £1. Since August 2026 Tilt also has Clips, where the app turns an item into a short shoppable video so you can sell between shows without going live. Shipping runs through Tilt’s integrated Royal Mail and Evri labels, and Tilt says sellers are paid within seven days, with faster payouts as your history builds.

On Depop you upload photos, write a listing and set a price. Buyers browse, like, make offers and message. The interface is built around a feed and a profile, and the work is in the photography and the description rather than in a live performance. Depop’s newsroom puts the marketplace at 56.3 million registered users, more than 68 million items for sale and up to 600,000 new listings a day. The buyer pool is far larger than Tilt’s. So is the competition for attention.

What each takes from a sale

Tilt advertises seller fees from 2% plus 50p. On a £30 hoodie that is £1.10. Registering is free and there is no monthly charge.

Depop removed its 10% selling fee for UK sellers from 20 March 2024. The zero fee applies to sellers located in the UK and to sales in pounds, and Depop’s usual payment processing fee still applies. Depop made the same change for sellers based in Australia from 22 July 2026. Check the current processing rate in Depop’s help centre before you price, because it is the only cost left on the seller side.

The gap between the two is small on cheap items and grows with price. On a £200 designer bag, Tilt’s fee is £4.50 and Depop’s is whatever processing comes to. What decides it is the sale price you reach, and a live room of bidders can push a wanted item well past a static listing.

Who is behind each app

Tilt is run by Retro Labs Limited, a London company founded in 2021 by two early Revolut employees, and its about page says it is live in the UK, Italy, Spain and Poland. In June 2026 it raised $26 million, with Vinted‘s investment arm joining as an investor. Depop was founded in 2011, was owned by Etsy from 2021, and eBay completed its acquisition of Depop on 30 July 2026. For a seller the practical point is that both are well funded and neither is going anywhere soon.

Selling the same stock on both

Plenty of UK resellers do both: Depop as the always-open shop, Tilt for a weekly show that clears the pile. The risk is that a jacket sells on Depop on Tuesday and you auction it on Tilt on Wednesday night.

Both sync both ways. Sell the jacket on Depop and FLUF takes it off Tilt before your show. Sell it live on Tilt and the Depop listing ends. Depop also gets FLUF’s relisting and offer tools from the Seller plan upwards; Tilt has neither, because an auction has no stale listing to refresh.

Which to choose

Choose Tilt if you hold volume, enjoy being on camera and want stock gone this week. Choose Depop if you sell single pieces, care about how your shop looks and want the biggest UK fashion audience without a fee on the sale. If you have both kinds of stock, use both and let FLUF keep the two in step.
