Grailed vs Etsy: Where to Sell Vintage and Designer Menswear
Grailed takes designer menswear of any age at 6% or 9%; Etsy takes vintage over twenty years old and handmade at 6.5% plus $0.20 a listing. Fees, rules, a worked example and how FLUF Connect runs both.
If you sell designer menswear, streetwear or archive pieces from the last few seasons, Grailed is where those buyers search: listing is free, the commission is 6% or 9% depending on price, and offers and bumps are part of the routine. If you sell vintage that is at least twenty years old, or things you made, Etsy reaches a far larger and broader crowd for $0.20 a listing and 6.5% of the sale. The overlap is vintage menswear: a 1990s workwear jacket fits both, and a 2021 designer hoodie fits only Grailed. Below are the fees, the rules on what you may list, a worked example in dollars, and how FLUF Connect runs both.
Is this for you?
Choose Grailed if your stock is men’s and gender-neutral fashion with a label that buyers search by name: Rick Owens, Carhartt WIP, Stone Island, Supreme, old Levi’s. Grailed buyers know what they want and argue about the price. Choose Etsy if your stock is vintage by Etsy’s definition, handmade, or craft supplies, and especially if it is not clothing at all: homeware, jewellery, prints and collectables sell there in volume. A vintage clothing seller with a mixed rail of old workwear, band tees and designer pieces will often end up listing the older items on both and the recent designer items on Grailed only.
What you may sell
Etsy’s vintage policy sets a hard line: an item must be at least 20 years old to be listed as vintage. Second-hand fashion from the last two decades does not qualify, however collectable the label, and reproductions are not vintage either. Outside vintage, Etsy is for items you made or designed and for craft supplies.
Grailed has no age rule. It is a fashion marketplace, centred on menswear, streetwear and designer labels, and it has a strict line of its own on authenticity. Its help centre says it has zero tolerance for replicas: listings are deleted while a report is investigated and sellers can be suspended or banned. Grailed checks listings with a mix of automated and human review, and higher-risk items can be given a “Grailed Verified” card after a human check, according to its authentication article.
What each one charges
Grailed charges nothing to list. Its fees article sets a commission of 9% on sales of $120 or more and 6% on sales under $120, with a $1.99 minimum, from 20 May 2026. The commission is worked out on the listing price plus any shipping the buyer pays, unless you ship with a Grailed Label, in which case shipping is left out. Grailed says international sellers pay the same commission. Payment processing is separate: 3.49% plus $0.49 for sellers in eligible countries who have set up payouts through Grailed’s payment partner, and 4.99% plus $0.49 elsewhere, according to its processing article.
Etsy’s fees policy (updated 5 October 2026) charges $0.20 for each listing, which runs for four months or until the item sells, then a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping and gift wrap. Payment processing is added at a rate that depends on the country of your bank account. When an Etsy Offsite Ad leads to a sale, that order carries an extra 15%, or 12% once your shop has made $10,000 in the last twelve months; smaller shops can opt out of the programme and larger ones cannot.
The same jacket on each
Take a 1990s chore jacket priced at $150, with $10 shipping paid by the buyer.
- On Grailed, using your own shipping: commission is 9% of $160, which is $14.40. Processing at 3.49% plus $0.49 adds about $6. You keep roughly $139.50 of the $160 the buyer paid, before your postage cost.
- On Grailed, with a Grailed Label: commission is 9% of $150, which is $13.50, and the label cost replaces your own postage.
- On Etsy: the listing costs $0.20 and the transaction fee is 6.5% of $160, which is $10.40. Payment processing comes on top at your country’s rate. If the sale came through an Offsite Ad, add 15% of the order, $24, which turns Etsy into the dearer option for that sale.
Below $120 Grailed gets cheaper. An $80 shirt with $10 shipping costs 6% of $90, $5.40, plus processing. On Etsy it costs $0.20 plus $5.85, plus processing. For most items without an Offsite Ad, the two land within a few dollars of each other, and the choice comes down to who the buyer is.
Buyers and reach
Etsy’s second-quarter 2026 shareholder letter reported about 87 million active buyers over the previous twelve months. Most of them are not shopping for menswear. They search by era, style and gift idea, so a vintage jacket on Etsy competes with homeware and jewellery for attention but reaches people who would never open a fashion app.
Grailed is much smaller and much narrower. It does not publish a current user count. It has been owned by GOAT Group since a deal announced in October 2022, which FashionUnited reported at the time. What Grailed’s buyers have is intent: they search by designer and size, follow listings, and know what a piece sold for last month. A rare item finds its buyer faster there than on a general marketplace.
Effort and day-to-day work
Grailed is a negotiation. Offers are binding: a buyer’s offer is a commitment to pay, and you have 24 hours to accept or counter, according to Grailed’s offers guide for sellers. Editing a live listing cancels its open binding offers, so plan price changes. A listing can be bumped back up the feed once every seven days for its first 30 days; after that a bump needs a price drop of at least 10%. Once sold, you have seven calendar days to ship with tracking, and the payout is released within three days of delivery if there is no dispute, according to Grailed’s payout article.
Etsy is quieter. The work is the listing itself: clear photos, a title written the way people search, the era and condition stated plainly, and a shipping profile. There is no bump to remember. Instead, you renew listings that have run out after four months, and good reviews build the shop over time.

Connecting Grailed in FLUF Connect
Grailed connects through the FLUF browser extension, or the FLUF mobile app, while you are signed in to your Grailed account. You can then list items from your FLUF inventory on Grailed. When the same item sells on Etsy or another connected channel, FLUF takes the Grailed listing down. A Grailed sale is not picked up on its own: mark the item sold in FLUF and the copies elsewhere come down. Answer Grailed offers and bump listings in Grailed itself.

Connecting Etsy in FLUF Connect
Sign in with Etsy from the Channels screen. Items you list go up on Etsy, an Etsy sale is picked up and your other channels update, and a sale elsewhere ends the Etsy listing or lowers its quantity. Relisting on Etsy is included from the Seller plan upwards.

New accounts get 7 days for £1, then move onto a plan.
Running both
Split your rail by age. Anything twenty years old or older can go on both, priced a little higher on Grailed to leave room for offers. Anything newer goes on Grailed alone, because Etsy will not accept it as vintage. Keep your sizes and measurements in the same format on both, since Grailed buyers ask for them and Etsy buyers return items that do not fit. When the same jacket is live on both, a sale on Etsy takes the Grailed copy down; after a Grailed sale, mark it sold in FLUF the same day. Frequently Asked Questions

Etsy takes $0.20 per listing and 6.5% of the item and shipping, plus processing. Without an Offsite Ad the two land within a few dollars; an Offsite Ad sale on Etsy adds 15%, or 12% for larger shops.
Not as vintage. Etsy's vintage policy requires items to be at least 20 years old. Recent designer fashion belongs on Grailed, which has no age rule.
No. Listing on Grailed is free. You pay the commission and payment processing only when the item sells.
Offers on Grailed are binding: a buyer's offer is a commitment to pay, and you have 24 hours to accept or counter. Editing a live listing cancels its open binding offers.
After a Grailed sale, mark the item sold in FLUF and the Etsy listing ends or its quantity drops. An Etsy sale is picked up by FLUF and takes the Grailed listing down.
Etsy relisting comes with the Seller plan and above. Grailed has no relisting or offer management in FLUF, and Etsy has no offer tool to manage. Crosslisting and inventory sync are on every plan.
