Sell on Best Buy Marketplace: who can join, what sells and what to check first
A US marketplace that Best Buy opens to approved business sellers. Listings match existing UPC products, with FLUF Connect handling the listing side.
7 days for £1, then from £9/month.
Best Buy Marketplace is a channel for registered businesses that Best Buy has approved to sell next to its own range. If you are an individual clearing out your own wardrobe, this is not the place. If you run a business that sells new, barcoded electronics, home or office products, it is worth a look. Best Buy decides who gets in, so the first step is its approval, not anything FLUF does.
Best Buy opened its third-party marketplace in the US on 19 August 2025. Its launch announcement says the platform more than doubled the number of products on its website and added categories including seasonal décor, automotive tech, office and home, and movies and music.
Key points
- Best Buy approves its own sellers. You need that approval before FLUF Connect can connect your account.
- Once connected, you list products Best Buy already sells, matched by their UPC barcode.
- FLUF does not import Best Buy orders, detect a Best Buy sale or end your listings on other channels when an item sells. Those steps stay manual.
- This page covers the US marketplace only.
Is Best Buy right for your stock?
Best Buy’s shoppers are already looking for electronics, appliances, computing and home products. Stock that fits is new, barcoded and sits in those categories: cables, headphones, small appliances, desk accessories and similar lines. Used clothing, handmade goods and anything without a UPC do not fit, because FLUF matches items to Best Buy’s catalogue by barcode. If you have no barcode, you cannot match the item at all.
Returns are the part sellers underestimate. Best Buy’s announcement says customers can return marketplace purchases to their local Best Buy store, as well as shipping them back to the seller. That means an item can come back through a shop rather than to your door. Decide before you list how you will handle a return, and whether you can restock and resell the item, so a store return does not catch you out.
Sales tax and what Best Buy handles
On marketplace sales, Best Buy works out, collects and pays the applicable sales tax itself. Its seller tax guidelines say tax is calculated on the customer’s final price after eligible discounts, and that those discounts do not reduce what marketplace sellers are paid. The same page says Best Buy may send a Form 1099-K to US sellers who reach the reporting threshold, by 31 January.
Sales you make through your own website or shop are still your responsibility. Keep those records separate from your Best Buy sales so your returns do not mix them up.
Connecting in FLUF Connect
Start with Best Buy’s approval. In FLUF Connect, the Best Buy card on the Channels screen is marked “Invite only, available by approval”. If Best Buy has already approved you, choose “Already approved? Connect” and link your seller account. If you are not approved yet, the card will not connect, and FLUF cannot speed that decision up.

After you connect, pick the items you want to sell from the products already in Best Buy’s catalogue. FLUF matches them by UPC. Check the match before you list, because a wrong barcode puts your item against someone else’s product page.
Prices, stock and condition
Set the price and quantity on each product in FLUF before you list it. Automatic price changes are not offered for Best Buy, so if a competitor drops their price, you change yours by hand. The same goes for stock: when you sell an item, take it off the other channels yourself, and keep your Best Buy quantity right.
Describe condition honestly. Best Buy shoppers expect a Best Buy-standard product, and an open-box or used item listed as new is the fastest route to a return and a poor seller record. If the item is not new, do not sell it as new.
What FLUF Connect does on Best Buy
Listing items to Best Buy is included on every FLUF plan. The rest of the list below is not offered for this channel, so treat those steps as manual work.
| Task | On Best Buy through FLUF Connect |
|---|---|
| Connect your seller account | Yes, once Best Buy has approved you |
| List products already in Best Buy’s catalogue, matched by UPC | Yes |
| Create a new product in Best Buy’s catalogue | No |
| Import Best Buy orders into FLUF | No |
| Detect a Best Buy sale and end your listings on other channels | No |
| Relist an item on Best Buy | No |
| Manage offers | No |
| Automatic price changes | No |
Before you apply
Best Buy sets its own terms, so ask it directly before you build your prices. Get three answers: the commission for each category you plan to sell, whether any fixed monthly charge applies, and when payouts arrive. Put the commission into your prices from day one, not after your first sale.
Think about how Best Buy fits with the rest of your range too. If you also sell on eBay or Amazon, compare the guides for those channels before you decide which stock goes where. A product that sells well on one channel may need a different price or pack on another.
A checklist before you connect
Work through these before you spend time on the connection. Each one saves a failed listing later.
- Your Best Buy seller approval is in place. The card has to show your account as connected, and that only happens after Best Buy has approved you.
- Most of your range has a UPC barcode. Count the lines that do not, because those will not match.
- Your stock count is accurate. Overselling a marketplace hurts your seller record, and you cannot reverse it by apologising.
- You have decided how a store return will be handled, including who pays for a return to you and where the item goes to be checked.
- Your tax records are separate for Best Buy and for your own shop or website, so your year-end numbers reconcile.
- Prices include the commission Best Buy charges on each category, so a sale still leaves you a margin.
Running Best Buy alongside your other channels
Because FLUF does not detect a Best Buy sale, the risk is a sold item that stays live somewhere else. Pick a routine for this. Some sellers check Best Buy orders at set times of the day, then end the same item on their other channels straight away. Others keep Best Buy for a separate set of products, so one channel never holds the last unit of an item the other is selling. Either works. What fails is leaving it to memory.
Stock that is cheap to hold, easy to pack and has a fixed barcode suits this model best. Bulky or fragile items add handling costs that can wipe out a thin electronics margin, so check packing and postage against the commission before you list them.
What to do after your first sale
Once a Best Buy order comes in, fulfil it from your Best Buy seller account and mark it shipped there. Then take the same product off your other channels yourself. If you use FLUF for stock records, update the quantity so the next listing starts from the right number. Keep a note of the order number, the price you got and the date, so you can match it to Best Buy’s payout when it arrives.
