Crosslist from Causee to Depop — Automatically

Move the fashion half of your Causee catalogue in front of seven million Depop buyers. This route shrinks a listing rather than growing one — here is exactly what gets trimmed, and how to choose what survives.

Key Takeaways — Causee to Depop Crosslisting

  • This route shrinks a listing rather than growing one. Causee puts no cap on description length and its listings routinely carry up to fifteen photographs. Depop allows 1,000 characters and eight images. Both get trimmed on the way across, so it is worth choosing what survives rather than letting a machine choose.
  • Depop has no title field at all. Your Causee title — capped at 60 characters — becomes the first line of the Depop description, which is what functions as the title in feeds and search. That inversion is the single most important mapping fact on this page.
  • The condition scales line up almost exactly, with two edge cases. Both platforms use five values. Causee has no “fair” rung and Depop does; Causee has “Handmade” and Depop does not.
  • Neither charges a UK seller a selling fee. Causee takes 0% commission. Depop removed its selling fee for UK sellers on 20 March 2024 — you pay only payment processing, 2.9% + £0.30.
  • You gain automation you cannot have on Causee. Depop supports automatic relisting, offer management and order sync. Causee supports crosslisting and mark-as-sold only.
  • Cost: 7 days for £1, then from £9/month — unlimited crosslisting on every plan. There is no free plan.

Two thousand listings against seven million buyers

Causee is a UK resale marketplace with an unusual business model — it charges sellers nothing at all and donates its own corporate profits to charity — and a very small catalogue. When we counted its complete live inventory on 3 September 2026 it held 2,011 listings, of which 1,261 were fashion. It launched in autumn 2026, it is UK-only, and it publishes no buyer numbers.

Depop is where the buyers for that fashion already are. It reported 7 million active buyers and more than 3 million active sellers at the end of 2025, with roughly $1 billion in gross merchandise sales that year, and nearly 90% of its users under 34. eBay completed its acquisition of Depop from Etsy on 30 July 2026, which has not changed anything a seller pays.

The two platforms also want the same kind of stock. Causee’s catalogue is 63% fashion and its sub-category vocabulary is entirely apparel — clothing, shoes, baby and toddler clothing, infant’s shoes, kids’ shoes and maternity wear. That overlaps Depop’s core almost exactly, which makes this a cleaner category fit than most crosslisting routes.

Causee raises no objection. Its FAQ states directly: “Can I still sell on other marketplaces? Absolutely. You are free to continue selling on other marketplaces. Causee does not require exclusivity.”

Depop has no title, and what that means for you

Most crosslisting problems are about limits. This one is about a field that does not exist.

Depop’s listing form has no separate title box. What appears as the title on a product card, in a feed and in search results is the first line of the description. Everything else — brand, category, colour, style, size, hashtags — sits alongside as structured attributes, but the headline is prose you wrote.

Causee, by contrast, has a real title field capped at 60 characters, and because Causee has no brand field at all, experienced Causee sellers cram the brand into that title out of necessity. So what crosses is a title written under one set of pressures and landing under a completely different one.

In practice, your Causee title becomes the opening line of the Depop description. That is the correct mapping and it produces a listing that reads slightly stiffly, because a 60-character keyword-dense string is optimised for a search box, not for a feed. “Zara black midi dress UK 12 pre-owned” is a perfectly good Causee title and a flat Depop opener.

The fix is thirty seconds per listing on the items you care about: keep the keywords, then add a second line in your own voice. Depop’s buyers are browsing, and the first line is doing the job a photograph and a caption do together.

What gets trimmed, and how to choose

This is the practical difference between this route and crosslisting Causee to eBay, where everything grew. Here two fields shrink.

Description. Causee places no published cap on description length — across sixty live listings we sampled, they ran from 15 to 4,984 characters. Depop’s limit is 1,000. FLUF trims to a little under that to leave room for encoding, so anything past roughly the first 950 characters does not survive.

For most resale listings that is irrelevant, because most are a few hundred characters. It matters for the sellers who write properly — full measurements, fabric composition, care instructions, a flaw log. If that is you, front-load. Measurements and flaws in the first 900 characters, provenance and styling notes after, because the second half is what gets cut.

Photos. Causee accepts JPG, GIF and PNG up to 20 MB each and its listings commonly carry up to fifteen. Depop takes eight. The first eight in your Causee gallery are the ones that cross, so the order you uploaded them in months ago is now doing work you did not intend. Front, back, label, flaw, on-body — those five earn their slots; the eleventh angle of a sleeve does not.

Neither of these is a failure and neither produces an error. They are silent, which is exactly why they are worth knowing before you push a catalogue rather than after.

Condition: five into five, almost

This is an unusually tidy mapping. Both marketplaces use exactly five condition values, and four of them correspond closely.

Causee Depop Fit
New with tags Brand new Clean
New Brand new, or Used – like new Causee’s “New” means new without tags
Used – Excellent Used – excellent Clean
Used – Good Used – good Clean, but read the description first
Handmade No equivalent; choose a condition and say “handmade” in the text
Used – fair Causee cannot express this at all

The asymmetry at the bottom is the one to watch. Causee has no “fair” rung — no Fair, no Satisfactory, no Poor — so a genuinely well-worn garment gets rounded up to “Used – Good” when it is listed there. Depop does have a fair condition. If you carry the Causee value across unexamined you will be listing at “good” on a platform that had an honest option available and that you chose not to use, which is a worse position in a dispute than simply grading accurately.

The other edge case runs the opposite way. Causee treats “Handmade” as a condition rather than an item type, which is idiosyncratic but useful — its stated launch focus includes small businesses and crafters. Depop has no equivalent, so pick the closest real condition and put the word in the description.

Sizing runs the other way here

On most routes out of Causee, sizing is the constraint. Here it is the source that is narrow and the destination that is generous, which is a rare and welcome direction.

Causee’s size vocabulary covers roughly 78 options: UK women’s clothing 4 to 24, shoe sizes 3 to 13 including half sizes, separate infant and kids shoe scales, and baby age bands. There is no S/M/L scheme and no men’s sizing. Depop carries all of those and letter sizes besides.

So anything that has a size on Causee maps across cleanly. The problem is what does not: a great deal of resale stock is letter-sized, and on Causee those listings simply carry no size, because guessing that a medium is a UK 12 sells someone the wrong garment. Those listings arrive on Depop with an empty size field on a platform that could have held the value.

That is worth a pass. Depop’s size filter is heavily used, and a sized listing is materially more findable than an unsized one. If your master catalogue lives in FLUF Connect rather than in Causee, the letter size is already there and reaches Depop properly — Causee is simply the channel with nowhere to put it. If Causee is your source, expect to add sizes on the Depop side for your letter-sized stock.

Fees, payouts and who waits longest

Causee Depop (UK)
Listing fee None, unlimited None
Selling fee 0% None for UK sellers since 20 March 2024
Payment processing None deducted from the seller 2.9% + £0.30, seller pays
Buyer-side fee Protection Fee — amount not published Marketplace fee up to 5% + £1
Optional promotion None exists — no boosts, no promoted listings Boosted Listings, 12%
Postage You price it and buy it at retail Evri labels bought in-app
Payout timing Released 7 days after delivery, then 3–7 business days 2 business days after delivery, or 10 business days after the sale
Outside the UK, US and Australia UK-only marketplace 10% selling fee plus PayPal fees still apply

Two notes. Causee does not publish its Protection Fee amount — not on the dedicated page, the FAQ, the terms, or its public marketplace configuration, which deliberately exposes only the seller-side commission. We checked all of them. If you want to know what your buyer pays, add something to a basket on Causee and look.

And the payout gap is real. Causee holds funds in escrow through Stripe and releases them seven days after delivery is confirmed, after which it says money “typically arrives within 3–7 business days” — call it a fortnight end to end. Depop pays out two business days after delivery. If you are recycling proceeds into stock, that difference compounds.

One eligibility note worth checking before you model any of this: Depop’s removal of the selling fee applies to sellers based in the UK, the US and Australia. Everywhere else the 10% selling fee still applies and Depop Payments is unavailable, so you are on PayPal with its own fees. Causee is UK-only, so for most sellers on this route the UK column is the relevant one — but confirm which side of that line you are on.

How to crosslist with FLUF Connect

  1. Connect Causee. It runs on a documented public API, so FLUF works server-side with your Causee credentials — no browser extension, nothing left running on your computer.
  2. Connect Depop. Also server-side.
  3. Import your Causee listings. Title, description, photos, price, category, sub-category, size, condition and colour all come across.
  4. Fill the two gaps that matter: brand, which Causee never captured, and a size for anything letter-sized.
  5. Front-load long descriptions and reorder photos for the listings you actually care about, since only the first 1,000 characters and first eight images survive.
  6. Select and crosslist. One item or the whole catalogue, and auto-crosslisting rules can push new Causee stock as it appears.

What syncs — and what does not

  • Sold on Depop → withdrawn from Causee, automatically. Depop supports order sync, so the sale is detected and the Causee listing is closed. Given the relative size of the two catalogues, this is the direction that will actually fire.
  • Sold on Causee → you remove it from Depop yourself. Order sync from Causee is not available, so a Causee-origin sale is not currently detected. Stated plainly rather than implied as a closed loop.
  • Automatic relisting, offer management and smart pricing all work on Depop. None of them exist on Causee, which supports crosslisting and mark-as-sold only — and Causee has no boost or promoted-listing product for them to interact with in any case.
  • Messaging and refunds are supported on the Depop side; Causee conversations stay on Causee.
  • Price and description edits made in FLUF push to both, with Causee receiving a partial update so anything you changed directly on Causee is not overwritten.

What FLUF Connect costs

FLUF Connect starts at 7 days for £1, then from £9/month. There is no free plan. Every plan includes unlimited crosslisting across all supported channels; the tiers differ in how often sales are checked and how much history you keep.

This pair is one where the higher tier earns its keep sooner than most, because Depop supports the automation Causee cannot. The Seller plan at £29/month adds automated relisting, offer management and smart pricing — on Depop, relisting in particular is a genuine sales driver, and offers are a normal part of how the platform trades. Starter covers the crosslisting itself and the sold-on-Depop protection if you want to start there. Automation is included in every plan rather than sold as an add-on; you get it on the channels that support it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Depop has no separate title field. What functions as the title in feeds and search is the first line of the description, so your Causee title — capped at 60 characters — becomes that opening line. It works, but a keyword-dense string written for a search box reads flat in a browsing feed, so it is worth adding a second line in your own voice on the listings you care about.

Partly. Causee publishes no description cap and we saw live listings running to 4,984 characters; Depop's limit is 1,000, and FLUF trims a little under that for encoding headroom. Causee listings commonly carry up to fifteen photographs; Depop takes eight, and it is the first eight in your gallery that cross. Neither trim throws an error, so front-load measurements and flaws and reorder your photos before pushing anything you care about.

Both use five values and four line up closely: New with tags to Brand new, Causee's “New” to Brand new or Used – like new, and Used – Excellent and Used – Good to their Depop equivalents. Two edge cases matter. Causee has no “fair” rung at all, so worn items get rounded up there — but Depop does have Used – fair, so grade honestly rather than carrying the Causee value across. And Causee's “Handmade” condition has no Depop equivalent.

Anything with a size maps cleanly, because Depop's size vocabulary is wider than Causee's. The gap is the other way round: Causee has no S/M/L scheme and no men's sizing, so letter-sized stock carries no size on Causee at all and arrives on Depop with an empty size field on a platform that could have held it. Depop's size filter is heavily used, so it is worth filling those in.

No. Causee's listing schema has no brand field, so there is nothing structured to carry across. Brand is a real searchable attribute on Depop, so it has to be recovered — from your master catalogue in FLUF Connect if you keep one, or added on the Depop side.

Neither charges a UK seller a selling fee. Causee takes 0% commission and deducts nothing from the seller. Depop removed its UK selling fee on 20 March 2024 and charges only payment processing at 2.9% plus £0.30. Depop also charges buyers a marketplace fee of up to 5% plus £1, and Causee charges buyers a Protection Fee whose amount it does not publish anywhere.

Considerably. Depop pays two business days after delivery, or ten business days after the sale, whichever comes first. Causee holds funds in escrow through Stripe and releases them seven days after delivery is confirmed, after which it says payments typically arrive within three to seven business days — realistically about a fortnight from the buyer paying to money in your bank.

Yes, automatically. Depop supports order sync, so the sale is detected and the Causee listing is closed. The reverse is not live: a sale that happens on Causee is not currently detected, so you take the Depop copy down yourself. Given Causee's entire catalogue was 2,011 listings when we counted it, the Depop direction is the one that will actually fire.

On the Depop side, yes — automatic relisting, offer management and smart pricing all work there, and relisting in particular is a genuine sales driver on Depop. On Causee none of them are available; it supports crosslisting and mark-as-sold only, and it has no boost or promoted-listing product for them to interact with in any case.
