How Depop and Joli Closet differ
Depop is a peer-to-peer fashion app, and since 30 July 2026 it has been part of eBay, according to Depop’s newsroom. It has removed selling fees for sellers in the United States (from July 2024) and in Australia (from 22 July 2026). Buyers come for trends and one-offs, and anything can be listed.
Joli Closet works the other way round. Its terms say every listing goes to Joli Closet for validation, that it may refuse items that do not fit its selection, and that it must approve your price. You keep the item at home until it sells. Then you send it to Joli Closet’s office, where it is checked for authenticity and condition within two days of arriving before going on to the buyer.

What Joli Closet costs
Listing costs nothing. Joli Closet’s FAQ sets the commission on sold items at 18% plus a fixed fee that depends on where you sell from: €8 in France, €15 in the rest of Europe excluding the UK, and €30 for everywhere else. The fixed fee includes shipping the item to Joli Closet’s office, and total fees are capped at €1,400.

Because the fixed fee is flat, Joli Closet makes more sense the higher the price. For a UK seller, a €60 item would lose more than half its price to fees, so keep cheaper designer pieces on Depop.
Joli Closet pays by bank transfer. Individual sellers are paid 7 days after the item passes the check, and professional sellers 15 days after the buyer receives it.
Rules to know before you list
- Confirm a sale within 48 hours and answer buyer questions within 48 hours.
- Ship to Joli Closet promptly. Its terms ask for dispatch within 5 working days of confirming, and it may cancel if the item has not arrived within two weeks.
- Items that fail the check go back to you at your cost. Counterfeits lead to a six-month suspension, and some are destroyed.
- Above €1,000 of sales a year, Joli Closet asks for ID from individuals and company documents from professionals.
