Key Takeaways

  • Joli Closet is a French marketplace for pre-owned luxury fashion. It suits designer bags, shoes, jewellery, watches and clothing, not high-street brands.
  • Listing is free. When an item sells, Joli Closet takes 18% plus a fixed fee of €8 in France, €15 in the rest of Europe (excluding the UK) or €30 elsewhere. The fixed fee covers shipping your item to them.
  • You keep the item until it sells. Then you send it to Joli Closet, their team checks it is authentic and as described, and they forward it to the buyer.
  • Every listing, including its price, is approved by Joli Closet before it goes live.
  • FLUF Connect can send your listings to Joli Closet and withdraw them when the item sells somewhere else. Sales made on Joli Closet itself are not picked up yet, so you mark those sold in FLUF.

Is Joli Closet right for your stock?

Only if you sell designer pieces. The homepage leads with Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Cartier and Rolex, and the site describes itself as a marketplace for authenticated pre-owned luxury fashion. Its terms let the team refuse any item that does not match its selection policy, so a wardrobe of high-street labels is better placed on Vinted or eBay.

If you do hold luxury stock, the appeal is the buyer. Shoppers come to Joli Closet because every sold piece is inspected before it ships. That check protects you too: a buyer cannot receive an item that failed inspection, and a dispute about authenticity is settled by Joli Closet’s team rather than argued in messages.

Joli Closet launched in 2015 and is based in France. The site runs in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish and ships to buyers worldwide. In September 2026 the site reported a 4.3 out of 5 Trustpilot rating from 499 reviews.

How selling on Joli Closet works

  1. List the item yourself. You fill in the online form with photos, a description and the price you want. Joli Closet says this takes 2 to 5 minutes per item.
  2. Wait for approval. The description, photos and price are submitted for validation. Joli Closet then emails you the approved price and its commission. The team will not accept prices it considers far too high, or far too low, which it treats as a counterfeit warning sign.
  3. Keep the item at home. Nothing is sent in advance. Items stay with the seller until they sell.
  4. Confirm the sale. When someone buys, you have 48 hours to confirm. Joli Closet expects the item to be sent within 15 days of the order, and its terms ask sellers to aim for 48 hours after confirmation, five working days at most.
  5. Send it to Joli Closet. Shipping to their office is covered for sellers in Europe, the United States, Asia and Australia. Sellers in Africa are asked to get in touch before listing.
  6. Quality control. The team checks authenticity and that the item matches its listing, within 2 days of it arriving. It then goes to the buyer with tracking.
  7. Get paid by bank transfer once the conditions below are met.

For a buyer, the whole trip takes about 8 days when the seller is in France and 10 days from elsewhere in Europe, according to the FAQ. Most of that depends on how fast you post.

If you have a large volume of high-end pieces, Joli Closet also runs an in-house consignment service that handles the listing for you. You request it through their contact form. Everything else on this page describes the standard service, where you list and ship yourself.

Joli Closet fees, with worked examples

There is no listing fee and no subscription. When an item sells, Joli Closet deducts 18% of the price plus a fixed fee that depends on where you, the seller, are based:

Where you sell from Fixed fee per sale
France €8
Europe, excluding the UK €15
Rest of the world (including the UK) €30

The fixed fee includes the cost of shipping your item to Joli Closet. The buyer pays separately for delivery onward to them. Joli Closet’s own payout calculator on the FAQ page also caps the total fees on a single item at €1,400, which only matters for very expensive pieces.

Here is what that looks like in practice:

Listing price Seller in France Seller elsewhere in Europe Seller outside Europe
€100 €74 €67 €52
€250 €197 €190 €175
€500 €402 €395 €380
€1,000 €812 €805 €790

Take the €500 row. A seller in Lyon gives up €90 in commission and €8 in fixed fee and keeps €402. A seller in Berlin pays the same commission with a €15 fixed fee and keeps €395. The fixed fee weighs heavily on cheap items: on a €100 scarf, a seller outside Europe keeps barely half. That is one more reason Joli Closet works best for pieces worth a few hundred euros or more.

Payouts are made by bank transfer only. The timing depends on your seller type:

  • Individual sellers are paid 7 days after the item passes quality control.
  • Professional sellers are paid 15 days after the buyer receives the item.

Once you sell more than €1,000 in 12 consecutive months, Joli Closet needs proof of identity before it can pay you, or company documents if you sell as a business. Sellers outside the European Union need to provide ID from their first sale.

Selling as an individual or a business

Both are welcome, and buyers can see which kind of seller they are buying from. The difference that matters most is returns. Buyers cannot return items bought from individual sellers, unless the listing says it is eligible for a courtesy return. Items bought from professional sellers can be returned within 14 days, and Joli Closet provides the return label. Courtesy returns are only offered to sellers Joli Closet selects, and payment for those items waits until the return window closes.

When an item fails quality control

An item that fails the check is not sent to the buyer, and the cost of shipping it back to you falls on you. The penalties for fakes are stiff. According to the terms, a seller who lists counterfeit or prohibited items is suspended for six months, and for five years on a repeat offence. Some items are checked by brand representatives, and a counterfeit may be destroyed without compensation.

The practical lesson is to describe condition carefully. The check covers whether the item matches its listing, not only whether it is genuine. A scuffed corner you photographed and mentioned is not a problem. The same scuff left out of the description can sink the sale.

Rules that catch new sellers out

  • Answer questions within 48 hours. Buyers ask questions in the comments on each item. If you are away, tell Joli Closet or update your profile.
  • Stay reachable. Joli Closet can cancel a sale and unlist your items after 10 days without a reply to its messages.
  • Edits need approval. You can change a listing, but every change goes back to Joli Closet for validation.
  • Price close to the market. An asking price far above or below comparable pieces is likely to be refused.

Using Joli Closet with FLUF Connect

Most luxury resellers do not rely on one marketplace. The same bag might also be listed on Vestiaire Collective and eBay. The risk is selling it twice. FLUF Connect keeps one inventory and sends it to each marketplace you connect, including Joli Closet.

Setup takes a few minutes. You connect Joli Closet with the FLUF browser extension while you are logged in to your Joli Closet account. Joli Closet asks for your date of birth, phone number and pickup address on every item, so FLUF asks for them once when you connect and fills them in for you each time.
