Sell on Both Etsy and Squarespace: Fees, Rules and Stock Sync
Keep one inventory across your Etsy shop and branded Squarespace store without overselling.
7 days for £1, then from £9/month.
- Squarespace and Etsy serve different audiences: Squarespace gives you a branded storefront; Etsy brings discovery and built-in traffic.
- Running both costs money. Squarespace’s Core plan runs £17–£24/month with zero transaction fees on physical products; Etsy charges 6.5% per sale plus £0.20 listing fees.
- Etsy forbids you from diverting buyers away to buy elsewhere. Links to your Squarespace shop are only allowed on your Etsy shop’s About page.
- FLUF Connect lists the same stock in both shops. An Etsy sale updates your Squarespace stock; a Squarespace sale needs marking sold in FLUF so the Etsy listing ends.
If you sell handmade items or vintage goods on Etsy and want to build your own shop without losing Etsy’s audience, adding Squarespace makes sense. You keep both revenue streams, but each platform has fees, limits and rules you need to know about.
Squarespace Commerce Plans and Costs
Squarespace lets you open an online shop on any plan. The difference is what you pay per transaction.
Basic (£12–£16/month) charges 2% on physical sales and 7% on digital. If you sell mostly physical products, it stings. A £40 necklace costs you an extra £0.80 in Squarespace fees alone.
Core (£17–£24/month) and higher plans charge 0% on physical products. You still pay payment processing (roughly 2.9% + 30p), but Squarespace itself takes nothing. This is where most sellers switch if they plan to use the platform regularly.
Advanced (£79–£89/month) includes 0% on digital products too, but unless you’re selling thousands of files monthly, the extra cost doesn’t pay off.
Etsy Fees and Off-Platform Rules
Etsy charges you to list and fees per sale. Listing costs £0.20 and renews every four months or when an item sells. On each sale, Etsy takes 6.5% of the total (including shipping) plus 4% + £0.20 payment processing in the UK.
On a £40 sale, that’s roughly £3.20 in Etsy fees before Offsite Ads (if you’ve hit the threshold).
Here’s the catch: Etsy forbids you from actively diverting buyers to purchase elsewhere. You cannot link to your Squarespace checkout in listing descriptions or use messages to steer buyers off-platform. You can only link your own shop on your Etsy About page. Breaking this rule can get your shop suspended.
Digital vs Physical Products
Both platforms accept physical and digital items, but fees differ. Squarespace charges 0% on physical products (Core+) but 5–7% on digital depending on your plan. Etsy’s fees are the same for both.
If you sell mostly printables or digital downloads, the fee gap widens. On Squarespace’s Advanced plan, digital content fees drop to 0%, but the monthly cost (£79–£89) only makes sense at real volume.
Real-World Example: A £40 Necklace
Selling on Etsy alone: You pay £0.20 listing + 6.5% (£2.60) + 4% + £0.20 payment processing (£1.80) = £4.60 total. You pocket £35.40.
Selling on both Squarespace (Core) and Etsy: Squarespace doesn’t charge you transaction fees. On each sale, you pay Etsy the same (£4.60) plus Squarespace’s payment processing (roughly £1.36). That’s £5.96 per sale, but Squarespace costs £17–£24 monthly, shared across all products. If you sell 10 necklaces a month, you’re breaking even and gaining a branded shop.
What FLUF Connect does between the two

| See Etsy orders | When something sells on Etsy, FLUF sees the order and updates your Squarespace stock. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Only on your Etsy About page. Etsy's rules forbid links in product descriptions or messages directing buyers off-platform. Your About page is the safe place to mention your own shop.
No. Some sellers want Squarespace for their own brand and others rely mainly on Etsy for traffic. You choose which items go where.
If you're selling physical products, Squarespace's Core plan (£17–£24/month) breaks even around 10 sales monthly. If you sell mostly digital, consider Advanced to avoid Squarespace's transaction fees.
When an item sells on Etsy, FLUF sees the order and updates your Squarespace stock. When it sells on Squarespace, mark it sold in FLUF Connect so the Etsy listing ends and the piece cannot sell twice.
Yes. FLUF Connect lists it in both shops. An Etsy sale updates Squarespace for you. A Squarespace order is the one you record yourself in FLUF, and the Etsy listing then ends.
If your Etsy sales exceed £10,000 annually, Offsite Ads (15% on attributed sales) becomes mandatory. Budget for it if you hit that threshold. Running both shops on the same inventory can push you over faster.
