Crosslist from Square to Poshmark — The Sharing Grind Is Mostly Over
Poshmark told sellers in October 2025 that sharing no longer affects Feed visibility, which finally makes a Poshmark closet practical for a shop. What replaced it is listing freshness and a cancellation budget your till knows nothing about.
- The sharing grind is largely over, and almost nobody has updated their advice. In October 2025 Poshmark stated that sharing no longer affects listing visibility in the Feed, and that following does not affect discovery at all.
- What replaced it is listing freshness — a data problem your Square catalogue is well placed to solve. A listing with no seller action for 60 days goes inactive and may get less visibility, and sharing is not one of the actions that resets the clock.
- Poshmark fees: $2.95 flat under $15, otherwise 20%. In Canada it is C$3.95 under C$20, then 20%, with GST or HST charged on the fee itself. No volume discount exists.
- Cancelling an oversold order is a metered offence. More than 3% of orders cancelled in a rolling 90 days puts your account in a restricted state, and that threshold tightens to 2% under the new performance programme.
- Your till does not tell Poshmark anything. Square decrements stock only from its own point of sale, Invoices and Square Online.
- Cost: from £9/month. There is no free plan, but every new account gets a 7-day free trial.

The sharing rules changed and most advice has not
If you have avoided Poshmark because of the sharing treadmill, the position is genuinely different from what almost every guide still describes.
On 13 October 2025 Poshmark published an explanation of how discovery now works, and it demoted the platform’s most famous ritual in its own words: sharing counts as activity and refreshes your listings in the “Just Shared” sort, but “it no longer impacts listing visibility in the Feed”, and following “doesn’t impact how shoppers discover your listings”.
That matters enormously for a shop, because the sharing workload was the reason a bricks-and-mortar seller could not realistically run a Poshmark closet. The arithmetic was brutal. One reseller’s guidance was to share your whole closet three to five times a day; at 300 to 400 listings that is roughly twelve minutes a pass, so three passes is around 36 minutes daily and about 18 hours a year of pure clicking. Poshmark briefly removed in-app bulk sharing in November 2025 and restored it in December after the backlash — and a seller who tried the manual alternative on a 260-item closet reported simply that “it took ages”.
Sellers noticed the change. In a December 2025 thread one wrote: “Sharing is no longer bringing my items up in search about 90% of the time. In fact, recently, it seems sharing my items gets me LESS interaction than if I do nothing.” Another put their results down to something else entirely: “I don’t think sharing does anything to boost sales… My sales have been great lately… and it’s because I relist every 60-90 days.”
Be fair about the counter-evidence, because it exists. A seller in the same thread stopped sharing for a day or two as a test and reported likes falling from 40 to 60 a day down to 5 to 10. Sharing still registers as activity, and activity still matters. What changed is the mechanism, not the value of being active.
What actually drives discovery now, per Poshmark: complete listing details covering brand, size and condition, no keyword stuffing, fast shipping, low cancellations, and active, responsive closets ranking higher. Every one of those is a data-and-operations problem rather than a clicking problem — which is exactly the kind of thing a shop can win at, and exactly what software can hold up.
The replacement treadmill is worth knowing about. Since April 2026, a listing with no seller action for 60 days becomes inactive and may receive less visibility. The qualifying actions are an edit, a price drop, an Offer to Likers, a comment or adding to a bundle. Sharing is not on that list. So the old ritual no longer even keeps your listings alive; a periodic edit or price move does.
What Poshmark charges
| United States | Canada | |
|---|---|---|
| Small sales | Flat $2.95 under $15 | Flat C$3.95 under C$20 |
| Everything above that | 20% commission | 20% commission |
| Tax on the fee | Texas sellers pay state and local tax on 80% of the fee, since 1 October 2025 | GST or HST on the Poshmark fee, at your province’s rate |
| Listing fee, subscription, payment processing | None | |
The structure has been stable since 24 October 2024, when Poshmark reverted a three-week experiment with a lower percentage plus per-order and buyer-protection fees. If you read about a 5.99% Poshmark fee, that is the abandoned version.
Two things a shop owner should note. There is no volume discount — Poshmark states plainly that it cannot extend fee reductions below the standard commission, so a business doing real turnover pays the same 20% as a hobbyist. And the 20% is steep enough at the bottom of the range that it shapes what is worth listing: a seller of sub-$100 items told Modern Retail that “the new fee structure hurt sellers like me [the] most”, and reported buyers sending lower offers to compensate.
On paid promotion, the product is called Promoted Closet — there is no “Posh Ads”. It is a cost-per-click auction with a weekly budget, billed in arrears, and it promotes your whole closet: individual listings cannot be selected. Clicks are non-refundable. Poshmark publishes no minimum budget, no cost-per-click range and no benchmark return, so treat any figure you see elsewhere as invented. If you take a free trial, note it auto-renews into a paid campaign unless you stop it at least a day before it ends.
Where you can actually sell
Poshmark operates in the United States and Canada only, and does not offer cross-border shipping. The UK, Australia and India marketplaces all closed in October 2023. If your shop is outside North America, this is not your channel.
There is a subtlety that catches multi-location retailers: the US and Canadian marketplaces are separate domains with separate closets. A US shop cannot reach Canadian buyers from its US closet, or the reverse.
On scale, be careful with the numbers you will see quoted. Poshmark described “a vibrant community of 165 million members” in March 2026, and its help centre says over 100 million users across the US and Canada — both cumulative registrations rather than active users. The only active figure the company ever published was 7.6 million trailing-twelve-month active buyers on $1.8bn of gross merchandise volume, back in its final year as a public company. Poshmark was acquired by Naver, closing on 5 January 2023 at an enterprise value Naver put at approximately $1.2bn, and its results are now folded into a pooled consumer-to-consumer line rather than disclosed separately.
Square catalogue against a Poshmark listing
Square holds a properly structured retail record: item names to 512 characters, HTML descriptions, up to six item options and 250 variations, each variation carrying its own SKU, UPC, price and per-location stock. Poshmark wants something shaped differently.
| Poshmark requires | Square holds | The gap |
|---|---|---|
| SKU, up to 500 characters, unique across every listing and every size | A free-form SKU per variation | Uniqueness must hold across sizes too. Shops that reuse codes between seasons will collide. |
| Title, 80 characters, carrying brand, style, category, size and colour | Name up to 512 characters, plus a 24-character till abbreviation | Titles have to be rewritten, not copied — and the abbreviation many shops actually maintain is useless here. |
| Description, 1,500 characters, plain text, no HTML | HTML description up to 65,535 characters | Markup has to be stripped and the text cut. |
| Department, category and size, from Poshmark’s fashion taxonomy | Retail categories you invented | Full remap. Custom sizes are allowed but will not share to Posh Parties. |
| Condition — NWT, or blank | Nothing | A till does not record condition. Note Poshmark is retiring “Boutique”: from March 2026 existing Boutique listings convert to New With Tags. |
| Colour, up to two, and up to three style tags of 25 characters | Sometimes an option, usually prose | Map or infer. |
| One cover shot plus up to 15 more, no borders, no watermarks, no collages | Up to 250 images, up to 15MB each | Poshmark wants a clean product shot on a plain background; since the March 2026 redesign new listings display 3:4 portrait. |
One structural point that argues strongly for a crosslisting tool rather than Poshmark’s own bulk route: Poshmark’s Bulk Upload is restricted to Posh Ambassadors and Brand Partners. Ambassador status requires 5,000 community shares and 5,000 self-shares, alongside 50 listings, 15 sales, a 4.5-star average and an average ship time under three days. A shop opening a new closet cannot use the CSV path until it has done all of that by hand.
Multi-quantity works, with one trap
Good news for a boutique with depth: unlike several resale marketplaces, Poshmark does support multi-quantity listings. You set quantity per size, and multiple sizes sit under one listing using a parent-and-child variant structure — with each size needing its own unique SKU.
The trap is on the way out. A multi-quantity listing where at least one unit has already sold cannot be deleted. Poshmark’s instruction is to edit the quantity to zero instead, which marks the listing sold. Its guidance for sellers with large closets goes further and recommends using the inventory feed to zero out quantities on SKUs rather than deleting them, because there is no bulk delete at all.
That is worth internalising, because it means the correct response to selling something in the shop is set the Poshmark quantity to zero — not delete the listing, and certainly not leave it and cancel later.
The cancellation budget
Here is why the previous paragraph matters so much for a shop specifically.
You can cancel a sale any time before shipping. But Poshmark now meters it: as long as cancellations stay at or below 3% of your total orders in a rolling 90-day period, your account standing is unaffected. Above that, sellers “may face temporary account restrictions”, with continued violations risking permanent suspension. Buyer-requested cancellations do not count against you; yours do.
That threshold is tightening. Poshmark’s performance-based seller programme requires, over a rolling 90 days, an average ship time of two days or better, an approved return case rate of 2% or less, and a seller cancellation rate of 2% or less — effectively halving the tolerance for anyone who wants the badge. Cancellation rate is now surfaced to you directly in Posh Stats alongside ship time and returns.
And there is a permanent mark even when things are resolved. Poshmark does not remove sold listings “even if the order was cancelled” — the listing keeps its Sold banner, and to sell the item again you have to copy it into a fresh listing.
Put together for a shop with one-of-a-kind stock: an item sold over the counter that stays live on Poshmark will eventually be bought, and every one of those costs you a slice of a shrinking cancellation budget plus a dead listing you cannot reuse. The fix is never cancelling faster. It is never letting the listing stay live.
How to crosslist with FLUF Connect
Square connects through a standard authorisation you approve once, and FLUF Connect reads your catalogue directly through Square’s API — items, variations, SKUs, prices, images and per-location stock.
Poshmark is reached through your own signed-in Poshmark session rather than a server-to-server API, so that side is paced deliberately rather than fired all at once.
The mapping work is the part worth paying for here. FLUF Connect maps your Square categories onto Poshmark’s department, category and size taxonomy, cuts your item name down to the 80-character title Poshmark allows while keeping brand and size in it, strips your HTML description to plain text within the 1,500-character limit, and carries quantity per size into Poshmark’s variant model with a unique SKU for each. Condition is the field it will ask you for once per item rather than guess, because Square never captured it.
It also handles the sold-out mechanics correctly, which sounds like a detail and is not: when stock reaches zero the Poshmark quantity is set to zero rather than the listing being deleted, matching Poshmark’s own documented behaviour for multi-quantity listings that have already sold a unit.
What syncs, and what you have to tell it
This pair needs an honest account, because neither platform reports its sales into the other automatically.
| Event | What happens |
|---|---|
| An item sells over the counter on Square | Not detected automatically. Square order sync is not implemented, so mark it sold in FLUF Connect and the Poshmark quantity is zeroed along with every other channel. |
| An item sells on Poshmark | Not detected automatically. Mark it sold and the fan-out runs from there. |
| An item sells on a channel that does report sales | Detected automatically, and the Poshmark and Square stock are both dropped. |
| You change a price or description | Pushed out to the channels carrying that item. |
The reason for the first row is worth stating plainly rather than hiding. Square only decrements stock from its own surfaces — its point of sale app, Square Invoices, and orders shipped through Square Online. A Poshmark sale is invisible to it, and there is no Square-to-Poshmark integration in Square’s own app marketplace.
So the workflow that works is a closing routine: at the end of trading, mark the day’s counter sales in FLUF Connect. That single habit is what keeps your cancellation rate inside the budget described above, and it is a great deal cheaper than the alternative.
If you also sell on a channel that does report its own sales, run that as your source of truth and let Square and Poshmark be updated from it.
Shipping and payouts
Poshmark shipping is flat-rate and buyer-paid: $6.49 in the US, on USPS Ground Advantage at two to five business days, with a prepaid label emailed to you or a QR code for printerless drop-off. That covers packages up to five pounds. Above it you pay the difference — $5.00 for 5.01 to 10 pounds and $10.00 for 10.01 to 15 pounds, deducted from your earnings, with 15 pounds the hard ceiling.
In Canada the buyer pays C$12.49 for Canada Post home delivery, or C$6.99 for Purolator pick-up if you opt into it — an option added in May 2026. Canadian labels cover up to 2.5kg, with upgrade fees above that.
Payouts are quick by resale standards. Funds are released to your Poshmark account within three days of delivery, and if the buyer does not confirm receipt the order is auto-received and the money released anyway. Withdrawing is free by direct deposit in two to three business days, $2.00 for an instant transfer to a debit card, or $0.35 to PayPal or Venmo.
For a shop used to taking cash over a counter this is the real operational shift: every Poshmark sale is a package, a label and a drop-off, on a two-day ship-time expectation that the new performance programme now measures.
What it costs
FLUF Connect starts at £9/month on Starter, covering 300 products, with Growth at £19/month for 1,000. There is no free plan, though every new account gets 7 days of full access with no card required. Relisting, offers and bulk operations are included in every plan rather than sold as add-ons.

Frequently Asked Questions
Not in the way the old advice describes. In October 2025 Poshmark stated that sharing counts as activity and refreshes listings in the “Just Shared” sort, but no longer affects listing visibility in the Feed, and that following does not affect how shoppers discover your listings at all. Sellers report mixed experiences — one found engagement fell sharply when they stopped entirely — so treat sharing as one activity signal among several rather than the main lever. What Poshmark now names as driving discovery is complete listing details, fast shipping, low cancellations and responsive closets.
Listing freshness. Since April 2026 a listing with no seller action for 60 days becomes inactive and may receive less visibility. The actions that reset that clock are an edit, a price drop, an Offer to Likers, a comment, or adding the item to a bundle — and sharing is deliberately not among them. So the old ritual no longer even keeps listings alive; a periodic edit or price movement does, which is far more practical for a shop.
In the US, a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on everything from $15 up. In Canada it is a flat C$3.95 under C$20 and 20% above, with GST or HST charged on the Poshmark fee itself at your province's rate. Texas sellers have paid state and local tax on 80% of the fee since 1 October 2025. There are no listing fees, no subscription and no separate payment processing charge — and no volume discount, so a busy shop pays the same 20% as a hobbyist.
Yes. Poshmark supports multi-quantity listings, with quantity set per size, and multiple sizes held under one listing using a parent-and-child variant structure. Each size needs its own unique SKU, and SKUs must be unique across every listing and every size in your closet. The trap is on the way out: a multi-quantity listing that has already sold at least one unit cannot be deleted — you edit the quantity to zero instead, which marks it sold.
It is metered. Poshmark allows seller cancellations up to 3% of your total orders in a rolling 90-day period without affecting your account standing; above that you may face temporary restrictions, and continued violations risk permanent suspension. Buyer-requested cancellations do not count against you. That budget is tightening — the new performance-based seller programme requires a seller cancellation rate of 2% or less, along with a two-day average ship time.
No, and this surprises people. Poshmark does not remove sold listings even when the order was cancelled, so the listing keeps its Sold banner permanently. To offer the item again you have to use Copy Listing to create a fresh one, losing the original's age and any likes attached to it. It is one more reason the right answer is to zero the quantity the moment the item leaves the shop, rather than letting a sale happen and unwinding it.
No. Square updates stock counts only from its own surfaces — the point of sale app, Square Invoices, and orders shipped through Square Online — and there is no Square-to-Poshmark integration in Square's app marketplace. The reverse is equally true: a counter sale is invisible to Poshmark. Through FLUF Connect neither direction is detected automatically for this particular pair, so marking sales is a closing-time habit; if you also sell on a channel that reports its own orders, run that as your source of truth.
Not at first, and this is rarely mentioned. Poshmark restricts Bulk Upload to Posh Ambassadors and Brand Partners, and Ambassador status requires 5,000 community shares plus 5,000 self-shares, along with 50 available listings, 15 sales, a 4.5-star average rating and an average ship time under three days. A shop opening a new closet has to do all of that manually before the CSV route unlocks, which is a strong argument for crosslisting from your existing catalogue instead.
The buyer pays a flat $6.49 in the US on USPS Ground Advantage, covering packages up to five pounds, with a prepaid label emailed to you or a QR code for printerless drop-off. Above five pounds you pay the difference — $5.00 for 5.01 to 10 pounds and $10.00 for 10.01 to 15 pounds, deducted from earnings, with 15 pounds the ceiling. In Canada the buyer pays C$12.49 for Canada Post or C$6.99 for Purolator pick-up if you enable it, on labels covering up to 2.5kg.
No. Poshmark operates in the United States and Canada only and does not offer cross-border shipping — the UK, Australian and Indian marketplaces all closed in October 2023. The US and Canadian marketplaces are also separate domains with separate closets, so a US shop cannot reach Canadian buyers from its US closet or the reverse. If your shop is outside North America, look at Depop or Vinted instead.
