Etsy vs Wallapop: Where to Sell Vintage, Handmade and Second-Hand in Spain

Wallapop is free for local sales and the buyer pays shipping; Etsy reaches buyers worldwide for handmade and 20-year-old vintage. Fees, rules, a €60 example and how FLUF Connect runs both.

If you sell in Spain, Italy or Portugal and your stock is everyday second-hand goods, Wallapop is the obvious first channel: listing is free, a sale collected in person costs you nothing, and on shipped sales the buyer pays the postage and the protection fee. If what you sell is handmade, a craft supply, or vintage at least 20 years old, Etsy puts it in front of buyers around the world, for $0.20 a listing and 6.5% when it sells, plus payment processing. Below are the fees, what each one accepts, a worked example on a €60 vintage jacket, the effort involved and how FLUF Connect runs both.

Is this for you?

This comparison is for a seller based in Spain, or Wallapop’s other two countries, deciding where a piece should go. Choose Wallapop for things a local buyer wants and an international buyer would not pay to ship: furniture, electronics, children’s things, sports kit, everyday clothes. Choose Etsy for things a buyer in another country is searching for: a hand-thrown bowl, a 1970s Spanish ceramic, a box of vintage buttons. A vintage seller with a mixed stockroom usually ends up on both.

What you may sell

Wallapop takes almost any legal second-hand or new item, from a phone to a sofa, and its bulky-item courier means large things can ship too. Etsy is narrow on purpose. Its vintage policy requires an item to be at least 20 years old to be sold as vintage, and the rest of the marketplace is for items you made or designed and for craft supplies. A barely worn pair of trainers from last year belongs on Wallapop and cannot go on Etsy at all.

What each one charges

Wallapop charges nothing to list, and a sale handed over in person carries no commission. For shipped sales through Wallapop Envíos, its shipping terms, last reviewed on 24 July 2026, say the buyer pays the shipping and a Wallapop protection fee that depends on the price of the item. The seller pays only if they choose a courier to collect from home, and that cost comes off the payout.

Businesses selling at volume can take a Wallapop PRO plan. It starts at €45 a month for up to 200 listings with no expiry and five free highlights a month, then €68 for 400 listings and eight highlights, with larger plans quoted on request.

Etsy’s fees policy, updated on 5 October 2026, charges $0.20 per listing, renewed every four months or each time a unit sells, and a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus the shipping you charge. Payment processing comes on top; for a shop in Spain, Etsy’s processing fee article gives 4% plus €0.30 per order. Etsy also adds a regulatory operating fee for sellers in some countries, and raised Spain’s to 0.88% from 22 June 2026, Value Added Resource reported. If an Offsite Ads click brings the sale, that order costs another 15%, or 12% for shops past $10,000 a year, which cannot opt out.

The same €60 jacket on each

Take a 1990s denim jacket priced at €60, with €8 postage within Spain.

  • Wallapop, collected in person: you keep €60.
  • Wallapop, shipped through Wallapop Envíos: you still keep €60 if you drop the parcel off yourself. The buyer pays the postage and the protection fee on top.
  • Etsy: the transaction fee is 6.5% of €68, about €4.42; processing is 4% of €68 plus €0.30, about €3.02; the regulatory fee is about €0.60. You keep roughly €60 after about €8 in fees and the $0.20 listing fee, and the buyer pays postage from Spain to wherever they live.

Wallapop is cheaper for the same buyer. The reason to use Etsy is a different buyer: someone in Germany or the United States looking for exactly that jacket, who might pay €90 for it. If your price on Wallapop would be the same as on Etsy, Wallapop wins every time.

Buyers and reach

Wallapop is local. Its shipping service runs within Spain, Italy and Portugal, plus Spain–Italy and Spain–Portugal routes, with Correos, Seur, InPost and a courier for bulky items in Spain, Poste Italiane and InPost in Italy, and CTT and InPost in Portugal, according to its shipping terms. Its owner Naver reported 23 million monthly active users in the first quarter of 2026, Ecotechers reported, without a split by country.

Etsy is global. Its second-quarter 2026 shareholder letter reported about 87 million active buyers over the previous twelve months. Most of them are outside Spain, which is the point: a Spanish ceramicist on Etsy is selling to people Wallapop will never reach, and paying international postage to do it.

Effort and day-to-day work

On Wallapop, the work is the chat. Buyers ask for discounts, ask whether the item is still available and arrange collection. On shipped sales, the buyer has 48 hours after delivery to open a dispute, and if a return is accepted they have ten days to send the item back before the money is released to you.

On Etsy, the work is the listing: a searchable title, tags, good photos, a shipping profile covering the countries you will post to, and for vintage, the era stated honestly. Customs forms and longer delivery times come with international buyers, and Etsy’s own payment schedule decides when money reaches your bank.

Running both

Sort by who the buyer is. Anything bulky, ordinary or cheap to replace goes on Wallapop only. Anything handmade or properly vintage goes on Etsy, and on Wallapop too at a higher price for a local buyer who prefers to collect. The risk with two channels is selling a one-off twice. With both connected, a Wallapop sale takes the Etsy listing down, so the jacket a buyer collects on Saturday cannot also sell to someone in Ohio that afternoon.
