Key Takeaways: Temu to Amazon

  • Good fit if you already sell new, barcoded stock on Temu. Amazon wants the same thing: a business account and a GTIN, ASIN or brand exemption per product.
  • Temu does not publish a public commission rate. Registration is free and the fee for your category is confirmed when you register.
  • Amazon charges a monthly plan plus a referral fee per sale. Professional is £25 a month (excl. VAT) in the UK and €39 a month (excl. VAT) in Germany, plus 7-15% of the sale price depending on category.
  • Selling into Germany or France adds a packaging step. Germany requires a LUCID number, and France requires a UIN, before Amazon will keep your listings live.
  • A Temu sale ends the Amazon listing. An Amazon sale is not picked up automatically, so you mark it sold in FLUF and it ends the Temu listing for you.
  • Cost: you can try it with 7 days for £1, then from £9/month. Starter covers everything this pair uses.

Is Amazon right for your Temu stock?

Mostly yes. Temu’s local-seller programme is built for businesses shipping new stock with a barcode, which is exactly what an Amazon listing needs. You are not starting from a pile of loose photos and no product data, so the setup is more paperwork than rebuild.

The one gap to check first is the barcode. Amazon attaches your offer to an existing product page identified by an EAN, UPC or ISBN, or by the page’s own ASIN. If an item has none of these, Amazon has a product ID exemption you apply for per category, and own-brand sellers can apply to Brand Registry once they have a registered or pending trademark. Sort this out before you crosslist anything.

This guide covers Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de, since FLUF supports Temu’s European and UK local-seller countries rather than the US marketplace.

How an Amazon listing differs from a Temu listing

On Temu you write the listing: your title, your photos, your price. On Amazon you usually add an offer to a product page that already exists, shared with every other seller of the same item. The page keeps its own title, photos and description. What you control is price, stock and how you ship.

That means the barcode or ASIN decides whether the listing works at all, not your photography. A branded kitchen gadget with an EAN on the box is straightforward. An unbranded item with no markings needs the exemption route above, and Amazon can take about 48 hours to review it.

If the product is not on Amazon yet, you create a new page instead of joining one, which needs a barcode, a product type and the attributes Amazon asks for on the first submission.

What you need for a Temu and an Amazon seller account

Temu’s local seller registration is a four-step process: business information, seller details, store setup and verification, and Temu says most applications are reviewed within a day. There is no registration fee.

Amazon needs a business account too. Selling with any listing tool, FLUF Connect included, requires the Professional plan, because third-party connections are a Professional-only feature. Registration asks for an ID document, a bank account for payouts, a phone number and address, and business details with proof of address.

Fees on each side, with a worked example

Temu (local seller) Amazon (Professional)
Registration Free Free to open the account
Monthly plan None published £25 (excl. VAT) in the UK, €39 (excl. VAT) in Germany
Per-sale fee Set per category at registration, not published Referral fee, 7-15% of the total sale price depending on category

Temu does not publish a fee schedule. Registration is free, and the commission for your category is confirmed in the seller centre when you sign up, so check the figure there rather than trusting a number from anywhere else.

Amazon’s referral fee is a percentage of what the buyer pays, postage included. On Amazon.co.uk, consumer electronics sit at 7% with a £0.25 minimum, and home products are 8% up to £20 and 15% on the amount above that, also with a £0.25 minimum. On Amazon.de, electronics are 7%, toys and books are 15%, and both carry a €0.30 minimum.

Take a home-category item you sell on Amazon.co.uk for £35 with £4.99 postage. The buyer pays £39.99. The fee is 8% of the first £20, which is £1.60, plus 15% of the remaining £19.99, which is £3.00. The referral fee comes to £4.60. On a £25-a-month Professional account, that fee sits on top of the flat monthly cost regardless of how many items you sell.

Fulfilment: keep posting yourself, or use FBA

Temu local sellers ship their own orders from their own stock. Amazon gives you the same choice: fulfil orders yourself, or send stock into Amazon’s warehouses under Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), which adds a per-unit fee and monthly storage but gets the item a Prime badge. FLUF Connect lists merchant-fulfilled offers; if you use FBA, manage that stock in Seller Central.

Packaging rules for Germany and France

Selling into Amazon.de or Amazon.fr adds a compliance step that Temu does not ask for.

Germany’s packaging register says plainly: “If you are distributing packaged goods in Germany, you have to be registered with the LUCID Packaging Register.” Amazon backs this with its own check: its EPR compliance page says you must submit your 13-digit LUCID number through its compliance portal, and that missing or invalid data can get your German listings restricted or removed.

France works the same way with a different number. Amazon’s French EPR page asks sellers to obtain a UIN (unique identification number) for packaging and submit it in Seller Central, and warns that Amazon may deactivate non-compliant listings or act on your behalf if you do not.

Get the LUCID number and the French UIN before you list, not after Amazon flags a product.

How to crosslist from Temu to Amazon

  1. Connect Temu. Add Temu in Channels and sign in with your seller account. Your listings import with titles, descriptions, photos, prices and categories.
  2. Connect Amazon. Add Amazon in Channels, sign in on Amazon’s own screen and choose the marketplace you want, such as Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.de.
  3. Check the barcode on each item. Add the EAN, UPC or ISBN, or the ASIN if the product already has an Amazon page. Apply for the product ID exemption where you have none.
  4. Sort your EPR numbers. Register for LUCID before listing into Germany and get a UIN before listing into France.
  5. Set the price and stock. Check the price covers Amazon’s referral fee and your monthly plan cost.
  6. Crosslist. Send a small batch first, check how the offers look in Seller Central, then use bulk operations for the rest.
