Crosslist from TikTok Shop to Depop — What Transfers and What Gets Removed
TikTok takes 9% on the item plus the shipping; Depop takes 0% plus 2.9%. The arbitrage is real — but supplier photography gets your listings removed, and beauty stock cannot come at all.
- The fee arbitrage is real and it is large. TikTok Shop UK charges a 9% commission, inclusive of VAT — and its own formula applies that rate to the item price plus the customer-paid shipping fee (TikTok Shop UK, Platform Commission Fee, effective 15 September 2025). Depop charges UK sellers 0% commission and a payment processing fee of 2.9% + £0.30 (Depop Help Centre, updated 21 July 2026).
- The migration risk that removes listings: stock photography. Depop’s guidance is blunt — “Always use original photos — your listing will be removed if you use stock images.” A TikTok Shop catalogue built on supplier or studio imagery cannot simply be copied across. This is the single biggest reason these crosslists fail.
- New stock is genuinely allowed on Depop. Its prohibited-items list bans undisclosed secondhand, not new goods, and the listing form carries a quantity field. The binding rule is possession: “You may only sell items in your possession.” Dropshipping is banned outright.
- Depop has no variant model. A TikTok Shop listing groups size and colour into one product. On Depop every size and colour becomes a separate listing with its own photographs.
- If you sell beauty, most of your catalogue cannot come. Seven of the ten most consistent UK TikTok Shop bestsellers between January and May 2026 were beauty and personal care (FastMoss, 19 June 2026). Cosmetics are restricted on Depop, and food, supplements and medical devices are prohibited.
- Depop is no longer owned by Etsy. eBay completed its acquisition on 30 July 2026 for around $1.2bn, with Depop to keep its own brand and platform (Depop newsroom). No fee commitment was made.
- Payout timing is the other reason to do this. A new TikTok Shop seller sits on the Introductory settlement tier at delivery date plus 31 days, then roughly three more business days to the bank.
- Cost: FLUF Connect is £1 for 7 days, then plans from £9/month (Starter — 300 products). There is no free plan.

Why crosslist from TikTok Shop to Depop
TikTok Shop UK has become a serious channel — more than 300,000 UK small businesses selling on it as of July 2026, with new sellers joining at three times the previous year’s rate and live shopping sales up 55% year on year (ChannelX, 30 July 2026). On Black Friday 2025 it sold 27 items every second, its highest-grossing UK day (TikTok Newsroom UK, 3 December 2025).
It is also a channel where you do not own the demand, the fee went up 80% in one step, and enforcement is automated. Three specific pressures push sellers to add a second home:
The commission rose from 5% to 9% on 2 September 2024 — the first increase since the UK launch (ChannelX, 5 August 2024). It has not risen again in the UK; the widely-shared “fees rise across Europe” story from December 2025 concerns Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Ireland moving to 9% on 8 January 2026, explicitly to match the UK.
New sellers are volume-capped. UK sellers report probation caps as low as five orders a day with no manual appeal route, alongside payouts at delivery plus 31 days. One seller described having 900 units of stock ready to ship against a five-a-day ceiling.
Enforcement is automated and hard to appeal. TikTok’s own UK policy reserves the right to withhold a seller’s balance for up to 90 calendar days from notification or until an investigation completes (Seller Performance Evaluation Policy, 29 January 2026). Sellers on Trustpilot rate the shop 1.2 out of 5 across 650 reviews, 93% of them one star.
Depop is not a replacement for TikTok’s discovery engine. Nothing is. But it is a place where the same stock can sit permanently, at a much lower take rate, with 7 million active buyers of whom nearly 90% are under 34 (Etsy investor release, 18 February 2026).
The fee comparison, done properly
Most comparisons get TikTok’s number wrong in the same way, so here is the actual formula from TikTok’s own UK policy:
Commission = ((Net Sales + Customer-paid Shipping Fee + Platform Discount) − (Net Sales Refund + Platform Discount Refund)) × rate
The customer-paid shipping fee is inside the base. If a buyer pays £4 postage on a £20 item, TikTok’s 9% is charged on £24, not £20. On a low-value, heavy item that is a meaningful difference, and it is why sellers’ effective rates come out above the headline.
| TikTok Shop UK | Depop UK | |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | 9%, VAT inclusive (5% for specified Electronics and Beauty & Personal Care) | 0% |
| Charged on | Item price plus customer-paid shipping | — |
| Payment processing | Not listed in TikTok’s own UK fee schedule | 2.9% + £0.30 on item plus shipping and taxes |
| Listing fee | None | None |
| Optional promotion | Affiliate commission, seller-set, stacks on the 9% | Boosted Listings, 12% of sale price ex-tax |
| Buyer-side fee | — | Marketplace fee, up to 5% plus up to £1, paid by the buyer |
| Settlement | Delivery date + 31 days on the Introductory tier, down to +1 day on Express | On delivery; immediately on sale for Top Sellers |
Two honest caveats. Several UK sources, including an accountant showing it on a real settlement breakdown, report a £0.50 shipped-by-seller fee and a per-transaction fee on TikTok Shop — but neither appears in TikTok’s own published UK fee schedule, and the reported transaction figures vary too widely to quote. And a boosted Depop listing costs 12% plus 2.9% plus £0.30, which is worse than TikTok’s 9%; boosting is optional, and the rate rose from 8% to 12% for new listings on 23 March 2026 (Depop Help Centre).
Note also that Depop’s 0% applies to sellers based in the UK, US and Australia. Elsewhere, a 10% selling fee still exists.
What of your catalogue is actually eligible
This is where the page earns its keep, because the answer is “some of it” and the boundary is not obvious.
New stock is allowed. Depop is frequently described as secondhand-only and that is wrong. Its prohibited-items list bans “second hand clothing item that is not disclosed to be second hand or used” — a rule that would be unnecessary if new goods were banned. The listing form carries a quantity field, so multi-unit stock is supported.
But you must physically hold it. Depop’s rule is explicit: “You may only sell items in your possession.” And dropshipping is banned outright — “drop shipped catalogue items are no longer allowed on Depop”, specifically including items “produced at large scale and bought to order from catalogues or other marketplaces” (Depop Dropshipping Policy).
Handmade and print-on-demand are allowed, conditional on original photography, your own descriptions, and disclosing the third-party manufacturer and where it is based.
What cannot come across, from Depop’s prohibited and restricted lists: cosmetics (restricted), food and edible items, all medical devices, software, services, vouchers, gift cards and digital goods, technology and electronics (restricted), plants and seeds, tobacco and alcohol.
Put those together and a blunt conclusion follows. If your TikTok Shop is a fashion or accessories business holding its own stock, most of the catalogue is eligible. If it is a beauty business — which is the largest single cohort on TikTok Shop UK — most of it is not. Seven of the ten most consistent UK bestsellers across January to May 2026 were beauty and personal care, at an average price of about £25.
One more rule worth naming: do not relabel new mass-produced stock as vintage or handmade to get around a category restriction. Depop’s Seller Misrepresentation Policy prohibits exactly that, and since August 2026 policy compliance affects search ranking as well as triggering takedowns.
The stock-photo rule that removes listings
If you take one operational thing from this page, take this one.
A TikTok Shop catalogue is built for a marketplace grid: up to nine square images, minimum 800×800 pixels, front-view main image, clean background, supplied by you or your manufacturer. That is exactly the imagery Depop removes listings for.
Depop’s instruction is unambiguous: “Always use original photos — your listing will be removed if you use stock images.” Not down-ranked. Removed.
The reason is cultural rather than technical. Depop’s buyers are shopping a person’s shop, not a catalogue, and stock photography reads as dropshipping — which Depop bans. A white-background product shot lifted from a supplier looks identical to the thing Depop is trying to keep off the platform.
So the real work in a TikTok-to-Depop crosslist is photographic, not technical. You need your own images: the item as you hold it, ideally worn or styled, with the flaws and the details a resale buyer looks for. Depop allows four photos and one video per listing, which is fewer than TikTok’s nine — so choose deliberately rather than truncating.
FLUF will carry whatever images your FLUF catalogue holds. It cannot know whether an image is a supplier’s or yours. That judgement is yours to make before you push, and getting it wrong costs listings rather than producing an error.
How to crosslist from TikTok Shop to Depop
- Create a FLUF Connect account and start the £1 seven-day trial.
- Connect TikTok Shop via OAuth from inside your Seller Center. FLUF then reads your catalogue through TikTok’s product search API, walking your full inventory a hundred products at a time.
- Connect Depop. Depop’s connection runs through a signed-in session rather than a public API — Depop’s own API is not open to the public, though it states that it works with crosslisting tools by API connection.
- Import your TikTok Shop catalogue into FLUF.
- Filter out what is not eligible before you do anything else — beauty, food, supplements, electronics, digital goods. Doing this at import saves a queue of removals later.
- Replace supplier imagery on everything you intend to list. This is the step people skip and the reason listings disappear.
- Crosslist. FLUF creates each Depop listing with your title, description, price, images and category.
- Push ten first. See how they land, then do the rest.
Worth knowing: Depop has bulk tooling of its own — a CSV and Google Sheet batch import and a bulk editor on web. But its “Depop Import” feature is US-only and imports from Poshmark only. There is no native TikTok Shop importer, and for UK sellers there is no native import tool at all.
What transfers, field by field
| TikTok Shop field | Depop field | Transfer status | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product title | Title | ✅ Automatic | TikTok titles are built for search — “product type, material, key features, quantity, size”. Depop titles read better shorter and more human |
| Description | Description | ✅ Automatic | TikTok requires at least 30 words plus package weight and dimensions; the dimensions read oddly on Depop and are worth trimming |
| Price | Price | ✅ Automatic | GBP both sides. Remember TikTok’s 9% was charged on price plus shipping, so your Depop margin at the same price is better than it looks |
| Images | Photos | ⚠️ Carried, but see above | TikTok allows 9, Depop allows 4 plus 1 video. Supplier imagery gets the listing removed |
| Category | Category | ⚡ Smart mapped | TikTok’s category tree is far deeper than Depop’s |
| Brand | Brand | ✅ Automatic | |
| Size / colour variants | — | ⚠️ One listing each | See the next section |
| Quantity | Quantity | ✅ Automatic | Depop supports multi-quantity listings |
| Condition | Condition | ⚡ Mapped | Set it honestly — misdescription is a Depop policy matter, not a cosmetic one |
| GTIN / EAN | — | ❌ Not used | Depop has no barcode field |
| Package weight and dimensions | — | ❌ Not transferred | Depop shipping is configured per listing |
| Affiliate settings | — | ❌ Not applicable | |
| Reviews and order history | — | ❌ Not transferred |
Variants: one TikTok listing becomes several Depop listings
TikTok Shop insists on grouping variants: size and colour “must be grouped within the one product listing”, and “each product can only have one product listing. Duplicate product listings are not allowed.”
Depop has no variant model at all. A Depop listing is one item with a quantity. A t-shirt in four sizes and three colours is twelve Depop listings, each needing its own photographs — and photographs you took, not the supplier’s.
That is a large amount of work, and it is worth being honest that it is the main cost of this crosslist. Two things make it tolerable. First, Depop’s audience shops individual items rather than configuring a product, so twelve listings genuinely outperform one listing with a size picker. Second, you can start with your best sellers rather than the whole catalogue — ten well-photographed listings on Depop will outperform two hundred with supplier images, because two hundred with supplier images will be removed.
What syncs and what does not
| Behaviour | Supported | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Read your TikTok Shop catalogue | Yes | Full inventory walk via TikTok’s product search API |
| Create, edit and delete Depop listings | Yes | |
| Sells on Depop → TikTok Shop stock set to zero | Yes | Written against the TikTok SKU and warehouse |
| Sells on TikTok Shop → cleared from Depop | No | TikTok sold-detection is not wired. Mark it sold in FLUF and FLUF clears the rest |
| Depop relisting | Yes | Depop is a relisting-enabled channel |
| Depop offer management | Yes | Automatic offer handling is supported on Depop |
| Depop order sync | Yes | Depop orders are read into FLUF |
| TikTok Shop order sync | No | TikTok revenue does not appear in FLUF’s order figures |
| TikTok Shop relisting or offers | No | Not applicable to that channel |
The direction that matters most here is the one that works: a Depop sale zeroes the TikTok Shop stock automatically, which protects you against the thing TikTok punishes hardest. A seller-fault cancellation is what puts you on TikTok’s 30-day settlement reserve, and overselling because a Depop buyer got there first is exactly that kind of cancellation.
UK tax and platform reporting
One correction first, because most pages state it backwards. Under HMRC’s rules a seller is excluded from platform reporting only if they made fewer than 30 sales and received no more than €2,000 in the calendar year — both tests must be met (HMRC IEIM901630, updated 31 July 2026). So you are reported at 30 or more sales OR more than €2,000, not both. Both TikTok Shop and Depop report; reports cover the calendar year and are filed by 31 January following.
The scale of this is no longer theoretical. HMRC received reports on 3,988,892 sellers for calendar 2025, up 272% on the previous year, covering around £55bn of reported online earnings (BDO, 17 March 2026).
Being reported does not itself mean tax is owed — HMRC has been explicit that the rules have not changed. But note that a TikTok Shop seller is a trader on every one of HMRC’s badges of trade: stock bought with the intention of selling it at a profit, sold systematically and repeatedly. The “just clearing out my wardrobe” framing that protects a casual Depop seller does not apply to you, and Depop’s own suggestion that only profits from trading secondhand items are potentially taxable is not a shield in this situation.
Two other numbers: the trading allowance is £1,000 gross, not profit, and it is a single allowance across all side hustles. The announced rise of the Self Assessment reporting threshold to £3,000 is not yet in force — and when it arrives it is a filing threshold, not a tax-free amount. VAT registration remains at £90,000 of rolling twelve-month taxable turnover, counted gross and across all channels together, so your TikTok and Depop turnover combine.
Mistakes that cost money
Bulk-pushing with supplier photography. The listings are removed, not warned. Re-photograph first.
Bringing beauty stock across. Cosmetics are restricted and consumables are prohibited. Filter at import.
Copying TikTok titles verbatim. A title built for TikTok’s search — type, material, features, quantity, size — reads like a spreadsheet row on Depop.
Assuming a TikTok sale clears Depop. It does not yet. Mark it sold in FLUF, which then clears everything else.
Boosting everything on Depop. At 12% plus processing, a boosted Depop listing costs more than TikTok’s 9%. Boost selectively or the arbitrage disappears.
Listing stock you do not hold. Depop’s possession rule is not decorative, and the dropshipping ban is enforced.
Treating Depop as a dumping ground. Policy compliance now feeds search ranking as well as enforcement, so a shop full of borderline listings ranks worse across the board.
What FLUF Connect costs
FLUF Connect is £1 for 7 days, then plans from £9/month (Starter — 300 products). The rest of your first month is charged after the seven days, so you are not paying more, just not all of it up front. There is no free plan.
Automation — relisting, offer management and bulk operations — is included in every plan, not sold as a paid add-on, and both relisting and offers are live on Depop. Depop is one of {channel_count} channels FLUF drives. Full details on the pricing page.

Two things we deliberately do not state: TikTok Shop’s UK gross merchandise value, which the company does not publish in any year, and a per-transaction TikTok fee figure, because reported numbers vary too widely and none appears in TikTok’s own UK schedule. Depop’s UK-specific buyer count is likewise not published.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, if you physically hold the stock and it is not in a restricted category. Depop is not secondhand-only — its prohibited list bans undisclosed secondhand rather than new goods, and listings carry a quantity field. The binding rules are that you may only sell items in your possession and that dropshipping is banned outright. Fashion and accessories transfer well; beauty, food, supplements, electronics and digital goods largely cannot.
For most sellers, substantially. TikTok Shop UK charges 9% commission inclusive of VAT, and its own formula applies that rate to the item price plus the customer-paid shipping fee. Depop charges UK sellers 0% commission and 2.9% + £0.30 in payment processing. The exception is boosting: a boosted Depop listing costs 12% plus processing, which is worse than TikTok's 9%, so boost selectively.
Not if they are supplier or stock images. Depop's guidance is explicit that listings will be removed if you use stock images, because that imagery reads as dropshipping, which Depop bans. This is the single biggest reason TikTok-to-Depop crosslists fail. You need your own photographs — the item as you hold it, ideally worn or styled. Depop allows four photos and one video per listing against TikTok's nine images.
They become separate listings. TikTok Shop requires size and colour to be grouped into one product listing and forbids duplicates. Depop has no variant model at all — a listing is one item with a quantity — so a t-shirt in four sizes and three colours becomes twelve Depop listings, each needing its own photographs. That is the main labour cost of this crosslist.
Three pressures. The commission rose from 5% to 9% on 2 September 2024, the first increase since the UK launch. New sellers face probation caps as low as five orders a day with no manual appeal route. And enforcement is automated — TikTok's own UK policy reserves the right to withhold a seller's balance for up to 90 calendar days from notification or until an investigation completes.
A new TikTok Shop seller sits on the Introductory settlement tier at delivery date plus 31 days, then roughly three more business days to reach the bank, with faster tiers down to delivery plus one day. Failing TikTok's seller-fault cancellation criteria puts you on a 30-day reserve. Depop pays on delivery, and Top Sellers — £1,000 a month in sales for three consecutive months, 50 new listings a month, a 4.5+ rating — are paid as soon as they sell.
Not automatically yet. TikTok sold-detection is not wired, so you mark the item sold in FLUF and FLUF clears it from your other channels. The other direction does work: a Depop sale sets the TikTok Shop stock to zero automatically, which matters because overselling produces a seller-fault cancellation, and that is what puts you on TikTok's 30-day settlement reserve.
No. eBay completed its acquisition of Depop on 30 July 2026 for around $1.2bn in cash. eBay has said Depop will operate as a complementary business retaining its own brand, platform, customer experience and culture — but it made no commitment about fees, so treat the current 0% selling fee as current rather than permanent.
Yes, on either trigger. A seller is excluded from platform reporting only if they made fewer than 30 sales AND received no more than €2,000 in the calendar year — both tests must be met — so you are reported at 30 or more sales or more than €2,000. Both TikTok Shop and Depop report, by 31 January following the calendar year. HMRC received reports on nearly 4 million sellers for 2025, up 272% year on year.
£1 for 7 days, then plans from £9/month on Starter, which covers 300 products. There is no free plan. Relisting, offer management and bulk operations are included in every plan rather than sold as add-ons, and both relisting and automatic offer handling are live on Depop.
