2dehands vs Vinted: Where to Sell Second-Hand in Belgium

Vinted charges sellers nothing and the buyer pays the fee and postage; 2dehands ads are mostly free with no commission and suit bulky items buyers collect. Fees, shipping, payouts, business rules and how FLUF Connect runs both.

If you sell clothes, shoes and accessories in Belgium, Vinted is usually the better first stop: listing is free, you keep the whole asking price, and the buyer pays Vinted’s fee and the shipping label. For furniture, bikes, electronics, garden tools or anything a buyer would rather collect, 2dehands (2ememain.be in French) is stronger. Most ads are free, there is no commission, and its buyers look for almost every kind of second-hand item. Many Belgian sellers use both, and the right split depends on what you sell.

Is this for you?

This page is for private sellers and small businesses in Belgium deciding where their stock should go. If you are in the Netherlands, the sister site Marktplaats plays the role 2dehands plays here. If you sell new branded stock in quantity, read the Vinted Pro rules below first, because Vinted limits that kind of selling.

What each site is for

2dehands was founded in 1999 and is a general classifieds site. Its help centre describes 36 sections, about 3 million visitors a month and an average of 70,000 new ads a day, from clothing and collectibles to cars and household goods. Private people and businesses sell side by side, and both new and used items are allowed.

Vinted started with second-hand fashion and still leans that way, though its catalogue now also covers home, electronics, entertainment, hobbies and sport. A large wardrobe clear-out fits Vinted well. A sofa or a lawnmower does not, because every Vinted sale is built around a parcel.

What it costs to sell

Vinted charges the seller nothing. Its selling basics page says there are no selling fees and no limit on how many items you list. The buyer pays the Vinted fee at checkout, usually 5% of the item price plus €0.70, and buys the shipping label at the same time.

On 2dehands, selling is free in most cases and there is no commission or transaction fee. You pay only for extras: options that make an ad stand out, a website link in the ad (€9), extra ads in categories that have a listing limit, and every car or motorbike ad after your first one placed on the website. When a buyer pays online through a payment request, 2dehands charges the buyer €0.40 per transaction.

Worked example: a €40 jacket

Vinted 2dehands, shipped 2dehands, collected
Asking price €40.00 €40.00 €40.00
Fee paid by the buyer €2.70 (5% + €0.70) €0.40 payment request None if paid in cash
Shipping Bought by the buyer at checkout €7.10 bpost label (0 to 2 kg), paid by the buyer None
Seller receives €40.00 €40.00 €40.00

For the seller the result is the same €40. The difference is what the buyer pays on top, and on a cheap item a €7.10 label can put buyers off. Vinted shows the total including its fee on every listing, so buyers compare like with like.

Shipping and collection

Vinted lists Mondial Relay, Vinted Go, DHL, Shop2Shop by Chronopost, DPD, bpost and DHL Express as carriers for Belgium. The buyer chooses one and pays for it, and you receive a prepaid label or a code. You must ship within five working days, or the order is cancelled and the buyer refunded. Belgian sellers can also sell to buyers in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Portugal and Ireland.

2dehands has one built-in carrier. Shipping with bpost through 2dehands works after a payment request: the buyer pays the item and the postage together, and you download the label from the chat and drop the parcel at a post office, PostPunt, parcel point or locker. Prices run from €7.10 for 0 to 2 kg to €17.00 for 20 to 30 kg. It only covers parcels within Belgium, and registered or insured shipping is not offered. For anything bulky, most 2dehands sales end with the buyer coming to collect.

Getting paid

On Vinted, an order completes when the buyer confirms everything is fine, or two days after delivery if they say nothing. The money reaches your Vinted wallet within two days, and a transfer to your bank takes up to five working days. Transfers go only to euro accounts in the EU or EEA.

A 2dehands payment request pays out faster: the money arrives by 18:00 on the next working day, once your bank account is linked. Identity checks apply to payment requests over €250 and once you pass the EU reporting thresholds of 30 sales or €2,000 in a calendar year. A local cash sale pays you on the spot.

Offers and haggling

2dehands lets you switch on offers when you set an asking price. If you do, a minimum offer of 60% of your price is set automatically, and you can change it. You can accept, reject or counter an offer, and the buyer then has 72 hours to pay. Vinted buyers can also send offers, and the item stays on sale until someone pays.

Selling as a business

Vinted Pro is open to sole traders, non-profits and companies registered in Belgium, with your 10-digit enterprise number and VAT number if you have one. Buyers from a Pro seller get a 14-day withdrawal right, so orders complete after 14 days rather than two. Vinted Pro does not allow items you made yourself, cosmetics, large quantities of new items with tags, or stock bought in bulk for resale.

2dehands has a business route as well, 2dehands Pro (Admarkt), which is the way to place many ads in categories where private sellers hit a listing limit. It suits shops selling new stock that would breach Vinted Pro’s rules.

Running both with FLUF Connect

Connect each account from the Channels screen. You need the FLUF browser extension or the FLUF mobile app for both, signed in to the 2dehands and Vinted accounts you already sell from. After that, a product you add once in FLUF can go to either site or both, and a sale on one takes the item off the other.
