Crosslist from eBay to PrestaShop: Your eBay Stock in a Store You Own
For eBay business sellers building their own PrestaShop store: what PrestaShop costs to run, what eBay charges on the same sale, and how FLUF keeps the two stocked from one list.
7 days for £1, then from £9/month.
- This route suits eBay business sellers who want a store of their own on PrestaShop, the open-source shop software used by more than 250,000 merchants.
- PrestaShop Classic is free to download. You pay for hosting, a domain, any paid modules and card processing, or you take PrestaShop’s Hosted offer and let them run the servers.
- eBay’s UK final value fee for business sellers is 11.9% in most of Clothes, Shoes & Accessories, and shop subscriptions run from £27 to £437 a month.
- FLUF sees sales on both. An eBay sale drops the PrestaShop stock and a PrestaShop order ends the eBay listing.

Who should add PrestaShop
PrestaShop is for sellers who want to own the whole shop: the code, the design, the checkout and the customer list. It suits sellers who have a developer or an agency on hand, or who are comfortable running software themselves. If you have built an eBay business to the point where a quarter of your turnover goes on fees and you want repeat customers to buy direct, a PrestaShop store is one serious way to do it.
It is a bigger commitment than a hosted shop builder. Someone has to install it, update it and keep it secure, unless you pay PrestaShop to do that. If you want a site running by Friday with no technical work, a hosted builder will suit you better. If you want control and are happy to pay for it in time or in a developer’s hours, PrestaShop fits.
How the costs compare
PrestaShop’s homepage offers two routes. Classic lets you download the source code free and install the store yourself. Hosted gives you a ready-to-use store with the technical side handled by PrestaShop. On the Classic route the software itself costs nothing. Your costs are hosting, a domain, any paid modules from the PrestaShop Addons marketplace, and the card processing fee of whichever payment provider you plug in.
eBay’s UK fees for business sellers put the final value fee at 11.9% across most of Clothes, Shoes & Accessories, with other rates by category, plus a regulatory operating fee on each sale. eBay Shops cost £27, £77 or £437 a month and come with bundles of free listings. On a £120 coat, the final value fee alone is £14.28.
The two costs behave differently. eBay’s scale with each sale. PrestaShop’s are mostly fixed, so the store gets cheaper per order the more it sells. Most sellers keep eBay for the search traffic and send returning customers to the store.
eBay habits to change on PrestaShop
- Traffic is your job. eBay’s search sends buyers to your listings. A new PrestaShop store has no visitors until you bring them through email, social media and search.
- Categories are yours to design. eBay tells you which category an item belongs in. On PrestaShop you build the menu, so keep it short and match how your customers shop.
- Checkout trust has to be earned. On eBay, buyers trust the marketplace. On your own store, clear returns and delivery pages and a familiar payment option do that work.
- Updates matter. A self-hosted store needs its software and modules kept current. Put it on the calendar.
What FLUF does on each side
| eBay | PrestaShop | |
|---|---|---|
| How you connect | Sign in with your eBay account | Your store address and an access key created in your PrestaShop back office |
| Bring existing listings into FLUF | Yes | Yes |
| FLUF sees a sale here | Yes | Yes |
| FLUF ends the listing here when it sells elsewhere | Yes | Yes, it drops the stock |
| Relisting and offer management | Included from the Seller plan upwards | No |
Both directions look after themselves. Sell a coat on eBay and FLUF sets the PrestaShop stock to zero. Sell it on your store and the eBay listing ends. For single items that is what stops a double sale. For stock you hold in quantity, FLUF keeps the counts in line on both.
Getting started
- Connect eBay by signing in, and bring your listings into FLUF.
- In your PrestaShop back office, create an access key for FLUF, then connect PrestaShop with your store address and that key.
- Pick the items for the store. Your best eBay sellers are a good start, because you already know they sell.
- Check the price and category on the first few PrestaShop products, then publish the rest.
