Sell on Castorama: Marketplace Requirements, Fees and Categories for Sellers
How the Castorama marketplace works for businesses selling home-improvement and garden products in France: who is accepted, what you can sell, what it costs, and connecting an approved account to FLUF Connect.
- Castorama, the French DIY and home-improvement chain owned by Kingfisher, opened a marketplace on castorama.fr and its app on 20 March 2024.
- It started with bathroom, outdoor landscaping and garden products, and aims to add 500,000 products from outside sellers.
- Only businesses established in France or elsewhere in Europe are accepted, and Castorama checks each one against about thirty criteria.
- Castorama does not publish its rates. Its marketplace terms describe a monthly subscription plus a commission on each sale.
- Once approved, you can connect your seller account in FLUF Connect and list stock whose barcodes are already in the Castorama catalogue. FLUF does not create catalogue products or import Castorama orders.
This guide is for a business that makes or distributes bathroom fittings, garden furniture, outdoor lighting, decking, planters or tools and wants to reach French shoppers who are planning a home project. If you already sell home-improvement goods to the UK through B&Q, Castorama is the French store run by the same parent company. If you are a private seller with a used lawnmower, it is closed to you, and Leboncoin is the better place.
What the Castorama marketplace is
Castorama has 95 stores in France and, according to its launch announcement, its website gets between 10 and 15 million visits a month. The same announcement says 80% of its customers begin their purchase on the website, even when they finish it in a store. That is the traffic a marketplace seller is buying into.
Third-party products appear on castorama.fr and in the Castorama app next to the retailer’s own range. Castorama copied the model its sister company B&Q introduced in the UK two years earlier. By October 2023, more than 35% of B&Q’s online sales came through its marketplace, a figure Castorama quoted when it launched its own.
Sellers can also buy advertising on the site through Kingfisher France’s retail media team. That is optional, and Castorama does not say what it costs.
Who can sell
The launch announcement is specific on two points. Sellers must be “uniquement établis en France et en Europe” (established only in France and Europe), and each one is chosen through “une sélection rigoureuse … sur la base d’une trentaine de critères” (a rigorous selection based on around thirty criteria). Castorama has not published the list, but it ties the checks to the quality of the marketplace and customer satisfaction, so expect questions about your delivery times, returns process and product data.
In practice that means a registered company, a catalogue with barcodes, and the ability to answer French customers. Castorama does not say whether its “Europe” includes the UK, so a British business should ask before it puts work into an application. For a UK seller, B&Q, which starts from a UK VAT number and company number, is the more direct route into the same group.
What you can sell
Castorama opened the marketplace with three ranges: bathroom, outdoor landscaping and garden. Its stated plan is to widen the offer across all its existing ranges first and then add complementary categories it does not stock today. The target of 500,000 extra products is several times the size of the retailer’s own online range, so there is room for specialist brands that a big-box store would never stock in full.
Good fits are products a shopper researches online before a weekend project: a particular shower enclosure, a composite decking range in six colours, solar garden lights, raised beds, heat pumps or pond equipment. A narrow range with full specifications and good photos will do better than a broad catalogue with thin data, because the buyer is comparing technical details.
Fees
Castorama’s marketplace terms describe two charges for every seller: a monthly subscription and a commission on each sale. The amounts are set in your seller contract and are not on the public site.
Agencies that connect sellers to Castorama quote figures, and they do not agree. Iziflux gives €39 a month before VAT and a commission of 8% to 15% depending on category. ChannelEngine also gives €39 a month but says the commission is not disclosed. Use those numbers to budget, then confirm your own rates with Castorama before you sign.
Delivery is where margins go on DIY goods. A 25 kg bag of gravel or a flat-packed shed costs far more to send than a tap, and the commission is charged on the sale either way. Work out the delivery cost for your bulkiest items first.
Is Castorama right for you?
It suits a French or EU manufacturer, importer or specialist retailer in bathroom, garden or outdoor products that can ship to French homes and wants the reach of a household name. Castorama opened its marketplace two years after B&Q and is still adding categories, so a specialist brand can be among the first sellers in its range.
It suits less well a UK-only business with no EU base, a seller of second-hand goods, or a business whose products have no barcodes. For other French home and furniture marketplaces, see Leroy Merlin, Maisons du Monde and BUT.
Using FLUF Connect with Castorama
Castorama approves its own sellers, so FLUF has no application link for it. On the Channels screen in FLUF Connect its card is marked “Invite only” and covers one country, France. Once your shop is live and your products are in the Castorama catalogue, choose “Already approved? Connect” on the card.

FLUF can then list items from your inventory that already exist in the Castorama catalogue, matched by barcode. A boxed mixer tap or a branded pressure washer with its EAN in your FLUF inventory can be offered there, while products without a barcode stay on your other channels.
| Task | On Castorama through FLUF Connect |
|---|---|
| Apply and get accepted as a seller | You do this with Castorama |
| Connect your approved seller account | Yes, from the Channels screen |
| List stock that the catalogue already holds, by barcode | Yes |
| Create new products in the catalogue | No |
| Detect sales or import orders | No. Manage orders in your Castorama seller account. |
| Relisting or offer management | No |
FLUF does not see Castorama orders, so a sale there does not lower the stock on your other channels. When an order comes in, mark the item sold in FLUF if it was your last one, and it comes down from the other marketplaces you list it on. For a seller with deep stock of each product this rarely matters. For a one-off item, such as an ex-display bath, check it before you accept the order.
FLUF’s plans for businesses selling on several channels are on the pricing page. Start with 7 days for £1, then from £9/month to see the Channels screen with your own stock.
