Key takeaways

  • Maisons du Monde, the French home furnishing and decor retailer, opened maisonsdumonde.com to partner brands in November 2020. Partner products sit in the same catalogue and checkout as its own range.
  • Partners are chosen by Maisons du Monde’s teams. It is a channel for registered businesses with a home, decor or lifestyle range that complements what the store already sells, and there is no open sign-up.
  • Maisons du Monde does not publish its commission rates or seller fees. You learn them in the partnership negotiation.
  • An approved seller can connect their account in FLUF Connect and list stock whose barcodes already exist in the Maisons du Monde catalogue. FLUF does not create catalogue products and does not import Maisons du Monde orders.

This guide is for a furniture, decor, textile or homeware brand, or a registered business distributing one, that wants to sell through Maisons du Monde’s website or has been invited to. If you sell second-hand furniture or one-off pieces, Selency, Leboncoin or eBay will take your listings without a contract. Everything below comes from Maisons du Monde’s own press releases, checked in October 2026.

What the Maisons du Monde marketplace is

Maisons du Monde was founded in France in 1996 and sells furniture and decor in what it calls multi-style “atmospheres”, through its own stores, catalogues and websites. On 9 November 2020 the group announced that it was turning maisonsdumonde.com into a “selective and inspiring marketplace”. The French launch brought in more than 200 brands and 25,000 extra products, in categories the store wanted to deepen, such as household linen, kitchen utensils and bedding. At the time the site had 10 million unique visitors a month, and digital transactions made up half of the group’s sales.

The marketplace then spread beyond France. By November 2022, according to the group’s press release on in-store marketplace corners, it offered 200,000 products from more than 400 partners across France, Italy and Spain.

That second release also shows something most marketplaces cannot offer. From 18 November 2022, Maisons du Monde gave partner brands physical space in six of its stores, with themed selections and featured brands, starting with the turntable maker Crosley. A partner is not only a row in the website catalogue; the store’s merchandising team can choose to put it in front of shoppers in person.

Who can sell

Maisons du Monde picks its partners. The 2020 release describes brands “carefully selected by the Maisons du Monde teams” for their fit on four points: style, affordability, quality and responsibility. It names the kinds of brand it went looking for: specialists, young designers, Made in France labels and socially responsible brands. It also says the group sees itself as a “talent scout” across Europe, giving brands with only a local following a wider audience.

Read that as a brief. A range that duplicates what Maisons du Monde already makes in-house is a weak pitch. A range that fills a gap next to it, at a similar price level and with a clear story on materials or origin, is a strong one. Partners are businesses with a contract; private individuals cannot sell here.

Maisons du Monde does not publish an application form or a self-serve seller sign-up, and FLUF Connect has no application link to give you. In FLUF the card reads “Invite only, available by approval”. The route in is to contact the marketplace team with your range, prices and product data.

Is this channel right for you?

It suits a brand or authorised distributor with a stable home range, product photography good enough to sit beside a retailer’s own, and a barcode on every variant. Furniture sellers also need delivery they can stand behind, because a sofa that arrives late or damaged on a retailer’s site reflects on the retailer, and partners are chosen with that in mind.

It suits less well a reseller of mixed or second-hand stock, a maker producing one-off pieces in small numbers, or a business whose margins only work with fees it already knows. Three questions help. Does your range complement what Maisons du Monde makes, or compete with it? Can you keep the same products in stock for a year? Will your margin survive a commission you will only see during the negotiation? If the answers are unclear, a marketplace you can join today is a better first step.

What it costs

Maisons du Monde does not publish its seller commission, subscription or payout terms, and none of its press releases give a figure. Agency guides online quote a monthly fee and commission ranges, but they are undated and do not agree with each other, so they are not repeated here. Ask the marketplace team for the commission on each of your categories, any fixed monthly charge, the payout schedule and the delivery standards in writing before you sign.

Budget for two costs that are yours whatever the commission: delivery of bulky items to the customer’s door, and returns. Maisons du Monde customers are used to the retailer’s own delivery service, and your service will be judged against it.

Using FLUF Connect with Maisons du Monde

Once Maisons du Monde has approved you and your products are in its catalogue, connect your seller account from the Channels screen in FLUF Connect with “Already approved? Connect” on the Maisons du Monde card. The card shows one country: the connection is for the French marketplace. FLUF can then list items from your inventory that already exist in the Maisons du Monde catalogue, matched by barcode.

A product with no barcode, or a barcode the catalogue does not hold, will not match. Product creation stays with you and the Maisons du Monde marketplace team. For a sideboard sold in three finishes, that means three EANs agreed with the store before you connect.

Because FLUF does not see Maisons du Monde orders, a sale there does not take the item off your other channels. If the same armchair is also on your Shopify store or on Leroy Merlin, lower the quantity yourself after each Maisons du Monde order, or hold a separate allocation of stock for the store. For furniture made to order in small batches, a separate allocation is the safer choice.

Maisons du Monde is a business channel. FLUF plans for businesses selling on several channels are on the pricing page. Start with 7 days for £1, then from £9/month to see the Channels screen with your own stock before you commit.
