Sell on The Range Marketplace: Requirements, Commission and Categories
How The Range marketplace works for UK home, garden and DIY businesses: who can join, what it charges, which categories it wants, and connecting an approved account to FLUF Connect.
- The Range has sold products from partner retailers and brands on therange.co.uk since autumn 2020, alongside its own home, garden and leisure stock.
- Trade press in 2024 put the commission at 11% to 15% depending on category, with no sign-up cost and no subscription.
- The marketplace is for registered UK businesses. Applicants need a company registration number, and The Range decides who joins.
- Once approved, you can connect your seller account in FLUF Connect and list stock whose barcodes are already in The Range’s catalogue. FLUF does not create catalogue products or import orders.
This guide is for a UK business selling furniture, garden equipment, DIY tools, pet supplies, toys or homeware that wants its products on a big high-street retailer’s website without opening a store of its own. If you already sell barcoded stock on Amazon, OnBuy or eBay, The Range is a fit worth checking. If you sell second-hand items as a private individual, it is not open to you.
What The Range marketplace is
The Range is a UK retailer of home, garden and leisure goods. It announced its online marketplace in October 2020, according to 365 Retail’s launch report, to widen the range on therange.co.uk with products from outside suppliers. Buyers shop partner products on the same website as The Range’s own stock.
By July 2024 the marketplace had about 1,100 partners and 340,000 products, according to ChannelX’s marketplace profile. The same article says partners can be featured on the homepage, in newsletters and on The Range’s social channels.
What you can sell
ChannelX lists the core categories as furniture, DIY, garden, toys, pets and home décor. It also reports The Range expanding into electricals, tech, gaming, white goods, children’s products and sports. Those expansion areas are where a new partner may find less competition from The Range’s own buyers.
Your products need barcodes. Large and heavy items such as garden furniture, sheds and flat-pack wardrobes are a natural match for The Range’s customers, but price the delivery so it covers a two-person or pallet service where the item needs one.
Who can sell and how to join
ChannelX says applicants need a UK company registration number. The Range runs the application itself and decides which partners to accept, which is why FLUF lists the marketplace as invite only. There is no public rate card or seller agreement to read before you apply, so ask for the terms during the application and check delivery, returns and payout schedules before you sign.
Fees
In its July 2024 ChannelX profile, The Range describes the commission as a percentage that depends on category, between 11% and 15%, with free sign-up, no subscription and “No Sale, No Fee”. Rates can change, so confirm the one for your category in the contract you are offered.
| Cost | As reported |
|---|---|
| Sign-up | Free |
| Monthly subscription | None |
| Commission | 11% to 15%, by category, on each sale |
On a £200 garden bench at 15%, the commission is £30, leaving £170 to cover the product, packaging and delivery. On a lower-margin category such as electricals, work the numbers before you list, because the delivery cost on a bulky item can take more than the commission.
Delivery and returns
ChannelX reports that partners must offer fast delivery options. Beyond that, delivery times, returns handling and payout timing are set in the partner agreement, not on a public page. Ask for them in writing. A furniture seller should know before signing who collects a returned wardrobe and who pays for it.
Is The Range right for you?
It suits businesses with barcoded home, garden, DIY, pet or toy ranges, stock levels that can take a national retailer’s traffic, and a delivery service that matches the size of the products. It suits less well a seller of one-off or second-hand items, anyone without a UK company, or a business whose margins are thinner than the commission.
If you already sell to UK shoppers on B&Q or Tesco, the same barcoded catalogue may fit The Range with little extra work. For an overview of UK marketplaces FLUF connects, see selling in the United Kingdom.
Using FLUF Connect with The Range
The Range approves its own sellers, so FLUF has no application link for it. On the Channels screen in FLUF Connect its card is marked “Invite only” and covers one country, the UK. Once your partner account is live and your products are in The Range’s catalogue, choose “Already approved? Connect” on the card.

FLUF can then list items from your inventory that already exist in The Range’s catalogue, matched by barcode. A garden-furniture business that keeps its stock in FLUF for other channels can offer the same units on The Range without keying them in again.
| Task | On The Range through FLUF Connect |
|---|---|
| Apply and get accepted as a partner | You do this with The Range |
| Connect your approved seller account | Yes, from the Channels screen |
| List stock that the catalogue already holds, by barcode | Yes |
| Create new products in the catalogue | No |
| Detect sales or import orders | No. Manage orders in your seller account with The Range. |
| Relisting or offer management | No |
FLUF does not see orders from The Range, so a sale there does not lower your stock elsewhere. When an order takes your last unit, mark it sold in FLUF and it comes down from the other marketplaces you list it on.
FLUF’s plans for businesses selling on several channels are on the pricing page. Start with 7 days for £1, then from £9/month to see the Channels screen with your own stock.
