StockX vs Grailed: Where to Sell Sneakers and Streetwear
Compare StockX (deadstock asks) and Grailed (peer-to-peer designer menswear) on fees, payout timing, and which suits your inventory.
7 days for £1, then from £9/month.
- StockX is a catalogue marketplace where you set asking prices on existing products. You ship to StockX for verification. Perfect for deadstock and pristine sneakers.
- Grailed is peer-to-peer menswear. You photograph, describe, and price your own items. Buyers pay all shipping and negotiate offers.
- StockX fees run 10-12% total (7-9% transaction plus 3% processing). Grailed charges 9% on items $120+, or 6% under $120, plus 3.49-4.99% processing.
- On StockX, buyers never contact you; the marketplace handles everything. On Grailed, buyers message you to haggle, ask questions, and inspect your photos.
- StockX pays out the day items ship from verification. Grailed pays 10 days after sale (longer for international sellers).
- Neither platform’s sales show up in FLUF automatically. Mark items sold in FLUF to end the other listings.

Which platform is right for your sneakers?
The choice between StockX and Grailed comes down to your items, your photos, and how you want to interact with buyers. Both move high-value footwear and apparel. The buyer experience is completely different on each.
On StockX, you’re not listing an item. You’re setting an asking price on a shoe that StockX already knows. You don’t write a description, upload photos, or choose a category. StockX supplies everything. You pick the exact size and variant, set your ask, and ship the sneaker to their verification centre. Payout lands the same day after it passes their grading check.
On Grailed, you are the retailer. You photograph the shoe from multiple angles and describe its condition honestly. You set the price and wait for a buyer. That buyer will message you, ask about creasing or heel wear, ask about sizing, and probably make an offer below your asking price. You negotiate and ship when you agree on terms. Get paid 10 days after the sale closes. Your reputation and photos are the proof, not marketplace grading. Grailed expects you to engage with buyers. Speed of response matters.
StockX works best for deadstock. Unworn, in original boxes, ready to ship. If your collection is deadstock Nike, Jordan, Yeezy, or collectible sneakers in sealed condition, StockX moves them fast.
Grailed is for worn pieces with history. Vintage Rick Owens, pre-owned Visvim, 1990s streetwear, high-end designer items. Grailed’s audience expects dialogue and detailed photos. They haggle and build relationships with trusted sellers. If you have used pieces from recognised designers or rare vintage items, Grailed reaches a deeper audience.

Detailed fees and payouts
StockX fees
StockX uses a tiered seller fee structure. Fees depend on your quarterly sales volume and revenue:
- Level 1 (no requirements): 9% transaction fee
- Level 2 (12+ sales, $1,500+ revenue per quarter): 8.5% transaction fee
- Level 3 (40+ sales, $5,000+ per quarter): 8% transaction fee
- Level 4 (200+ sales, $25,000+ per quarter): 7.5% transaction fee
- Level 5 (800+ sales, $100,000+ per quarter): 7% transaction fee
All levels also pay a flat 3% payment processing fee. On a $250 sale at Level 1, you’d pay $250 × 12% = $30 in fees, netting $220. Level 3 sellers pay $250 × 11% = $27.50, netting $222.50.
Payout arrives the day your item ships from the StockX verification centre, either to your linked bank account, PayPal, or (US only) Venmo or debit card.
Grailed fees
Grailed uses a simple tiered commission system based on item price. Unlike StockX’s sales-volume tiers, Grailed’s fees depend only on the item’s selling price, making it easy to predict your net payout:
- Items $120+: 9% commission
- Items under $120: 6% commission (minimum $1.99)
- Shipping: No commission when using Grailed Labels
Add payment processing on top: 3.49% + $0.49 for US domestic sellers, or 4.99% + $0.49 internationally. On a $250 sale at 9% commission ($22.50) plus 3.49% processing ($9.23), you net $218.27, paid out 10 days after the sale.
When to choose each platform
Your decision should reflect both your inventory and your willingness to manage customer relationships. If you want to ship and forget, StockX is the answer. If you enjoy negotiating and building a seller reputation, Grailed rewards that effort with a loyal buyer base.
Choose StockX if:
- You have deadstock sneakers or collectibles in original packaging.
- You want zero customer service. No messages, offers, or disputes.
- You want your payout the same day the item ships from verification.
- You don’t have good photographs. StockX provides them.
- You sell in volume and want Level 3+ fees (8% or lower).
- Your items are Nike, Jordan, Yeezy, New Balance, Salomon, or mainstream brands with catalogue entries on StockX.
Choose Grailed if:
- You have pre-owned designer menswear, vintage streetwear, or luxury items.
- You can photograph items well and write honest condition descriptions.
- You’re comfortable negotiating with buyers and answering questions.
- You want to build a seller reputation on a focused platform (designer/vintage buyers recognise trusted names).
- Your items are off-catalogue on StockX (Grailed accepts anything with designer provenance).
- You want more control over pricing and the ability to counter offers.
Use both if:
- You have a diverse collection: fresh deadstock on StockX, worn pieces on Grailed. This splits inventory by condition and maximizes reach.
- An item sits on StockX for weeks without an acceptable offer, then move it to Grailed at a lower price. Different buyers, different pace.
- You want to test StockX first for guaranteed authentication, then use Grailed for faster negotiation on the same shoe if the ask doesn’t move.
- You source items that work on both platforms: Nike Blazers, Raf Simons, Carhartt WIP, Stüssy pieces that appeal to both the collector and the designer-vintage audiences.
Shipping, authentication, and returns
StockX shipping and condition
You have two business days to ship after a sale (five days if it’s a release date). Items ship to StockX’s verification centre. StockX pays for return shipping if an item fails authentication, so you bear no risk if the grading doesn’t match expectations.
Items must be brand new and unworn without exception. For sneakers, the original box is required. Electronics require sealed packaging and all original accessories intact. Apparel must have original tags and never have been worn. StockX’s grading is strict because the marketplace promises buyers authenticity and condition.
Grailed shipping
US domestic sales use Grailed Labels. Prepaid postage, tracking, and insurance included. International orders require self-shipping. The buyer covers import duties. The label price is deducted from your payout. No additional commission applies to shipping.
Ship promptly and keep proof of postage. Honest condition notes and clear photos are what settle a dispute in your favour.
Authentication
StockX authentication is universal and built in. Every item is checked. The marketplace backs the authenticity guarantee. Grailed uses optional Grailed Verification for high-risk items. The buyer pays for digital content review and human assessment. Seller reputation and photos are the proof.
Running both with FLUF Connect
Plenty of sellers need both: deadstock pairs go to StockX, worn pairs and designer pieces go to Grailed, and a few items that fit either can sit on both until one buyer bites. FLUF keeps one inventory for both.
| StockX | Grailed | |
|---|---|---|
| How you connect | Sign in from FLUF | FLUF browser extension |
| FLUF sees a sale here | No, you mark it sold in FLUF | No, you mark it sold in FLUF |
| FLUF ends the listing here when the item sells elsewhere | Yes | Yes |
| Relisting and offer management | No | No |
Neither marketplace reports its sales to FLUF, so this pairing needs one habit. When an item sells on either, mark it sold in FLUF as soon as the sale confirms. FLUF then ends the ask on StockX or the listing on Grailed, along with any other marketplace it can end. Answer Grailed offers in the Grailed app.
How much it costs

Frequently Asked Questions
No. StockX only accepts items that are brand new and unworn, in original packaging. For sneakers, this means unworn shoes in the original box with all tags attached. If you have pre-owned items, Grailed is the right platform.
Yes. Grailed requires original photography of every item from multiple angles. Stock images or duplicate photos across listings are flagged by the platform. You must photograph the condition clearly, creases, wear, stains, so buyers know exactly what they're getting before they commit.
StockX releases the payout the day your item passes verification and ships on. Grailed pays out 10 days after the sale, and international sellers can wait longer.
StockX will send the item back to you at no charge. You'll be notified why it failed, usually because it doesn't meet their condition standard. You can then sell it elsewhere or contact support if you believe the assessment was incorrect.
Grailed Labels give US domestic sellers prepaid postage with tracking. The label cost comes out of your payout and carries no commission. International sellers ship on their own, and the buyer covers import duties.
FLUF does not see StockX or Grailed sales. Mark the item sold in FLUF when it sells on either one, and FLUF ends it on the other.
Both charge roughly 12-14% total in fees and processing. StockX averages 10-12% (7-9% transaction plus 3% processing). Grailed charges 9% on items $120+ and 6% under $120, plus 3.49-4.99% payment processing. The difference is small; choose based on item type and your comfort with customer service.
Yes. Keep one habit: when it sells on either marketplace, mark it sold in FLUF straight away. FLUF then ends the other listing.
