BigCommerce to Stripe: Payment Links for Sales Outside Your Store
When a BigCommerce merchant should also sell through Stripe Payment Links, what each costs, and how FLUF keeps stock right between the two.
A BigCommerce store is built for customers who come to your site. Not every sale starts there. A customer asks about a product in an Instagram message, a trade buyer wants to pay for one item by card, or you are at a market with a table of stock. A Stripe Payment Link takes the payment in each case without sending anyone through your store. FLUF Connect makes a Stripe product and Payment Link from items in your BigCommerce catalogue.
In short
- Use Payment Links for sales that start in a message, at an event or with a buyer you already know. Keep your store for everything else.
- Stripe takes a card fee on each payment and has no monthly fee. BigCommerce charges a monthly plan.
- A BigCommerce order comes into FLUF and the Stripe link stops taking payments.
- Payments by link do not reach FLUF, so record each one there to lower your BigCommerce stock.
Where a link beats the store
- Sales in messages. When a follower asks “is this still available?”, a link to pay for that one item is quicker than a product page, a basket and a checkout.
- Markets and events. Print the QR code for each item. The customer pays on their own phone and you see the payment before they walk off with it.
- Trade or repeat buyers. Send a link for the agreed item instead of setting up a customer account.
Stripe’s Payment Links documentation says a link can be shared on social media, in emails or on your website, shown as a QR code, and limited to a number of purchases. It takes a payment and nothing else, so you arrange delivery yourself.
What each costs
BigCommerce’s pricing page lists Core at $39 a month billed monthly ($29 billed annually) for up to $30,000 of online sales a year, and Growth at $105 a month ($79 annually) for up to $100,000. Card processing through its built-in payment provider starts at 2.89% + $0.29 a transaction.
A Payment Link has no monthly cost. Stripe UK pricing is 1.5% + 20p on a standard UK card, 2.5% + 20p on a card from the EEA, and 2% more where currency conversion is needed. Stripe US pricing is 2.9% + 30¢ on a domestic card.
| $80 item, US card | BigCommerce checkout | Stripe Payment Link |
|---|---|---|
| Card processing | From $2.60 | $2.62 |
| Monthly cost | Your BigCommerce plan | None |
| Where the buyer pays | Your store, after browsing | A link or QR code for that item |
| Shipping and tax | Worked out at checkout | You agree it with the buyer |
The fees are close. The difference is the route the buyer takes, and that matters most for the impulse sale in a message or at a table.
How to send BigCommerce items to Stripe
- Install FLUF Connect on your BigCommerce store so your catalogue appears in your FLUF inventory.
- Connect Stripe from its card on the Channels screen and approve the FLUF Connect app when Stripe asks.
- Filter the inventory to BigCommerce and select the items you want a link for.
- Choose Stripe as the destination, check the price and publish.

Each item becomes a Stripe product with a Payment Link. Stripe’s sharing guide shows how to copy the link or download its QR code. A link charges one fixed price. A price change in FLUF creates a new link, so replace any code you have printed.
Keeping stock right
| What happens | Result |
|---|---|
| An order comes in on BigCommerce | FLUF picks it up and the Stripe link stops taking payments when you sell the last one |
| A customer pays by Stripe link | FLUF does not see it. Mark the item sold in FLUF and your BigCommerce stock updates |
| You sell for cash at a market | Mark it sold in FLUF, which updates BigCommerce and stops the link |
A Stripe payment does not pass through your BigCommerce checkout, so it will not appear in your BigCommerce orders or reports. Check the Stripe Dashboard at the end of each market day and mark those items sold before your store takes an order for stock you no longer have.
