Crosslist from Mercari to eBay — Automatically
Move your Mercari listings to eBay's 136 million buyers. Field mapping, category-dependent conditions, the shipping choice Mercari cannot make for you — and eBay's new size rules.
- Mercari: 4.3 million US monthly active users, 10% seller fee, listing costs nothing. Browse-driven.
- eBay: 136 million active buyers — roughly thirty times Mercari’s US audience — with 250 free listings a month and a 13.6% final value fee in most categories.
- Time-critical: eBay began enforcing apparel and footwear size standardisation in August 2026. Unsupported sizes now block listing creation and revision — and Mercari’s compound sizes like “M (38-40)” are exactly the format eBay rejects.
- Fields that transfer: title, description, up to 12 photos, price, brand, size and category. eBay additionally demands per-category item specifics and a colour that Mercari never records.
- Sync works both ways here. A sale on either platform removes the item from the other automatically.
- Cost: from £19/month. There is no free plan.

Read this first: eBay’s size enforcement
eBay notified sellers in July 2026 that it is standardising sizes across apparel and footwear, with enforcement beginning in August. Its wording is unambiguous: “Starting in August, we’re standardizing sizes across Apparel and Footwear listings… you’ll be unable to create or revise listings with unsupported sizes.”
Supported values are alpha sizes from 2XS to XXL, numeric sizes, and region-specific US, UK and EU sizes. eBay explicitly names what will fail: blank or placeholder values, custom descriptions such as “See description” or “N/A”, and multi-size fields like “S/M/L”.
Mercari’s size values bake a measurement range into the label — a real Mercari size string looks like “M (38-40)”. That is precisely the kind of compound value eBay’s new rule rejects. A naive copy-paste of Mercari sizes into eBay will now fail at creation, and — more disruptively — will also block you from revising existing listings.
FLUF Connect splits the alpha size from the parenthetical range and maps it to eBay’s supported set, so the size arrives as “M” with the measurement retained in the item specifics or description rather than in the size field.
Why sell on both Mercari and eBay?
Because the buyer pools barely overlap in size. eBay reports 136 million active buyers globally; Mercari reports 4.3 million US monthly active users. That is roughly thirty to one, and it is why experienced resellers treat eBay as the primary surface and Mercari as an additional one.
A seller crossposting 8,000 listings put the split precisely: “I crosspost all my inventory from eBay to Mercari. Mercari made up less than 15% of my total sales in 2025. That’s worth the work for me, but it’s worth noting that Mercari shouldn’t be your primary site.”
Mercari earns its place through three genuine advantages, none of which is audience size:
- Its description text is searchable. On eBay you cram keywords into an 80-character title; on Mercari the listing body is indexed too. As one seller noted, Mercari listings are also “more likely to show up on google searches than ebay ones.”
- Cheaper light-parcel shipping. Mercari’s banded labels are competitive up to about 5 lb, and its 49¢ First-Class envelope rate for trading cards runs to 31 December 2026 — something eBay cannot match on cheap singles.
- Lower fee, in most categories. 10% flat against eBay’s 13.6%.
Fee comparison on a $30 item
| Mercari | eBay (most categories) | |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.00 | $0.00 within 250 free listings/month, then $0.35 |
| Seller fee | 10% of item plus buyer-paid shipping | 13.6% up to $7,500 |
| Per-order fee | None | $0.40 above $10 |
| You keep on $30 | $26.25 (on a 1 lb buyer-paid label) | $25.52 |
Seventy-three cents. The fee difference is not the reason to choose between them — reach is.
Two category exceptions genuinely move the needle. eBay charges 8% on athletic shoes above $150 with no per-order fee, the best rate on either platform. And eBay charges 13.25% on trading cards and collectibles, a category that was its single largest GMV growth driver in Q1 2026.
How to crosslist from Mercari to eBay with FLUF Connect
- Sign in to FLUF Connect and open the Channels page.
- Connect Mercari. Mercari is extension-first, so the FLUF browser extension needs to be installed and signed in.
- Connect eBay via OAuth. eBay runs entirely server-side — no extension, nothing to leave open.
- Import your Mercari listings with photos, price, brand, size, condition and category.
- Review item specifics. eBay requires category-specific aspects that Mercari does not collect — colour above all. Set defaults where you can.
- Choose a shipping model — flat rate or calculated. See below; this is a decision Mercari’s data cannot make for you.
- Publish. Listings go live within minutes.
What transfers — field and category mapping
| Mercari field | eBay field | Transfer status | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Title | Title | Automatic | eBay caps at 80 characters. Mercari titles that leaned on searchable body text may need tightening. |
| Description | Description | Automatic | eBay’s limit is far larger and permits HTML, so nothing is lost in this direction. |
| Photos (up to 12) | Photos (up to 24) | Automatic | eBay doubles your slots. Maximum 12 MB per image. |
| Price | Buy It Now price | Automatic | eBay also offers auction format, which Mercari has no equivalent for. |
| Brand | Brand item specific | Smart mapped | Required or recommended in most fashion categories. |
| Condition | ConditionID | Smart mapped, category-dependent | See below — the right eBay condition depends on the destination category, not just the source value. |
| Size | Size item specific | Smart mapped — newly critical | Compound values like “M (38-40)” are split. See the enforcement note. |
| Category (3 levels) | eBay category (4–6 levels) | Smart mapped | eBay’s tree is far deeper; the leaf is inferred rather than looked up. |
| Weight | Package weight | Automatic | Carried over, and required if you choose calculated shipping. |
| — | Colour | Manual or inferred | Mercari has no colour field. eBay requires or recommends it across most fashion categories. |
| — | Other item specifics | Manual | Material, style, department and more are required per category. Material in particular is mandatory on many apparel categories and exists on neither platform’s source data. |
| — | Custom Label (SKU) | Generated | Mercari exposes no seller-facing SKU. FLUF Connect mints one. |
Condition mapping — why the destination category decides
Mercari uses five conditions across everything. eBay uses different sets per category. That means the same Mercari value maps to different eBay conditions depending on what you are selling.
| Mercari | eBay clothing | eBay electronics |
|---|---|---|
| New | New with tags | New |
| Like New (Mercari’s definition: lightly used or unused, without tags) | New without tags | New — open box |
| Good | Pre-owned — Excellent | Used |
| Fair | Pre-owned — Good | Used |
| Poor | Pre-owned — Fair | For parts or not working |
Two traps worth naming. First, Mercari’s “Like New” explicitly means new without tags — mapping it to a pre-owned eBay condition undersells the item. Second, Mercari’s “Poor” is defined as possibly only usable for parts or repairs, which has a precise eBay equivalent in electronics and no clean equivalent in clothing at all.
Category mapping examples
| Mercari (3 levels) | eBay (4–6 levels) |
|---|---|
| Men → Sweats & hoodies → Hoodie | Clothing, Shoes & Accessories → Men → Men’s Clothing → Sweats & Hoodies |
| Women → Shoes → Sneakers | Clothing, Shoes & Accessories → Women → Women’s Shoes → Athletic Shoes → Sneakers |
| Handbags → Shoulder bags | Clothing, Shoes & Accessories → Women → Women’s Bags & Handbags → Shoulder Bags |
| Toys → Trading cards | Collectibles → Trading Card Games → … |
| Electronics → Headphones | Consumer Electronics → Portable Audio & Headphones → Headphones |
Mercari’s taxonomy is three levels; eBay’s typically runs four to six with required aspects attached to the leaf. The source listing simply does not contain enough information to identify the eBay leaf mechanically, so it is inferred from the title and category together — and that is where a crosslisting tool earns its keep.
What syncs, and what doesn’t
| Event | What happens | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Item sells on Mercari | Removed from eBay automatically | Within minutes |
| Item sells on eBay | Removed from Mercari automatically | Within minutes |
| Price changed in FLUF Connect | Updated on both | Within minutes |
| Sold on a third channel | Removed from both | Within minutes |
| Edits made directly in either app | Not synced | Edit in FLUF Connect |
Mercari and eBay both report sales back to FLUF Connect, so a sale on either side removes the item from the other within minutes. That is not true of every channel combination, and it matters here because eBay penalises overselling through its seller performance system rather than a flat fee.
The consequence of getting this wrong is worth spelling out. Cancelling eBay orders pushes you toward Below Standard, which adds a 6% surcharge to your final value fees — and from 1 July 2026, an additional 7% after four or more consecutive months at that level. On Mercari, cancelling costs 5% of the item price capped at $25. As one seller summarised it: “A double sale from a slow sync means a cancellation, and the defect rate hit costs more than the listing time the tool ever saved.”
The shipping decision Mercari doesn’t contain
Mercari asks for weight first and issues a banded prepaid label, so the buyer sees one fixed shipping price. eBay offers two models and Mercari’s data does not tell you which to pick:
| eBay flat rate | eBay calculated | |
|---|---|---|
| What the buyer sees | One price, like Mercari | A price that varies by their location |
| What you must supply | A price you choose | Weight and dimensions, both mandatory |
| Risk | You absorb long-zone costs | Higher quoted cost can deter distant buyers |
| Best for | Light, uniform items | Heavy or bulky items |
Mapping the Mercari band to an eBay flat rate is the safe default, and it keeps the buyer experience consistent across both listings. It does discard eBay’s zone economics, so for anything heavy, calculated is worth the extra fields.
Two Mercari-side notes that cost real money. Since 20 January 2026 Mercari splits its labels into a Best rate — for packages of one cubic foot or less with a longest side of 22 inches or less — and a higher Standard rate. Crucially, Standard applies if no dimensions are entered at all, so omitting dimensions silently costs you. And packages over one pound are always rounded up to the nearest pound, so a 3.25 lb item needs a 4 lb label.
One further eBay behaviour to be aware of: eligible US and Canadian sellers are auto-enrolled in eBay International Shipping, which becomes the default international option and is added to existing listings automatically. You ship to a domestic hub and eBay handles the rest.
Before and after — the real workflow
Without FLUF Connect
- Open the Mercari listing, copy the title, trim it to 80 characters
- Download all twelve photos
- Start an eBay listing and re-upload them
- Find the right eBay category, four to six levels deep
- Paste and reformat the description
- Pick the eBay condition — checking which set applies to this category
- Fill every required item specific: brand, colour, material, style, department
- Re-enter the size in eBay’s newly enforced format
- Choose flat or calculated shipping and enter weight, and dimensions if calculated
- Set returns policy and payment options
- Publish, and note somewhere that the item is now live twice
- When it sells, remove the other listing before someone else buys it
Community-reported timings put a careful first listing at 3 to 15 minutes, with copying to a second platform adding two to five minutes per item. eBay is the heaviest of the major platforms because of its item specifics.
With FLUF Connect
- Select items in your catalogue
- Choose eBay
- Confirm the pre-mapped fields and specifics
- Publish
Manual: roughly 4 to 8 hours of pure duplication, plus the ongoing cost of manual delisting. With FLUF Connect: under an hour, and delisting happens on its own. Sellers commonly put the break-even for a tool at around 100 to 150 active listings.
Automation for Mercari and eBay sellers
| Feature | Mercari | eBay |
|---|---|---|
| Crosslisting | Yes | Yes |
| Sale detection | Yes | Yes |
| Sold elsewhere → delisted here | Yes | Yes |
| Auto-relisting | Not yet | Yes |
| Offer management | Not yet | Yes |
| In-place price edits | Yes | Yes |
| Bulk operations | Yes | Yes |
| Connection | Browser extension | Server-side, no extension |
Two honest notes. Relisting and offer management are not yet available on Mercari — Mercari’s in-place edit surface currently covers price but not title, description or size, so a full relist cannot be automated safely. Price edits do work in place, which means a Smart Pricing–style drop preserves the listing’s age, likes and views rather than resetting them. On eBay both work; see auto-relisting and offer management.
A note on visibility mechanics worth knowing before you automate anything on eBay: Good-Til-Cancelled auto-renewal gives no ranking boost — there is no new listing ID and no position reset. Ending and relisting does create a new listing ID and appears to refresh standing, while revising preserves history and refreshes nothing. That is why relisting on eBay is a real lever and simply leaving a GTC listing to renew is not.
One structural difference in how the two platforms treat tools: eBay’s user agreement carries the strictest automation language of the major marketplaces, prohibiting automated access “except with the prior express permission of eBay” — but eBay also runs a public developer programme, which makes it the one platform here where a crosslisting integration can be formally sanctioned rather than merely tolerated. FLUF Connect’s eBay channel is a server-side API integration for exactly that reason.
What it costs
| Plan | Price | Products | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | £19/month | 1,000 | All automation features |
| Seller | £99/month | 5,000 | All automation features |
| Super Seller | £299/month | Unlimited | Priority sync |
There is no free plan. Every plan covers crosslisting between all supported channels, so the same catalogue also reaches Poshmark, Depop, Vinted and more. See the pricing page and our comparison against List Perfectly.

Verified in August 2026. Mercari publishes no title or description character limits; eBay’s own help pages were not directly retrievable for the 80-character title limit, which is sourced to eBay’s developer documentation. Those are flagged rather than presented as confirmed. Mercari Local was discontinued in November 2024 — any guide quoting its rates is out of date.

Frequently Asked Questions
eBay began enforcing apparel and footwear size standardisation in August 2026: “you'll be unable to create or revise listings with unsupported sizes.” Supported values are alpha sizes 2XS to XXL, numeric sizes and region-specific US, UK and EU sizes. Blank values, placeholders like “N/A”, and multi-size fields like “S/M/L” all fail. This hits Mercari sellers particularly hard because Mercari sizes bake a range into the label — “M (38-40)” is exactly the compound format eBay rejects. FLUF Connect splits the alpha size out and keeps the measurement elsewhere.
Plans start at £19/month (Growth — 1,000 products). There is no free plan. Every plan includes crosslisting, inventory sync, relisting, offers and bulk operations across all supported channels, so the same catalogue also reaches Poshmark, Depop, Vinted and more — automation is not a paid add-on.
Yes, in both directions. Both platforms report sales back to FLUF Connect, so a sale on either side removes the item from the other within minutes, as does a sale on any other connected channel. That is not true of every channel combination, and it matters here because eBay penalises overselling through seller performance rather than a flat fee.
You cancel one, and it costs more than you would expect. On eBay, cancellations push you toward Below Standard, which adds a 6% surcharge to your final value fees — and from 1 July 2026 an additional 7% after four or more consecutive months at that level. On Mercari a cancellation costs 5% of the item price, capped at $25. This is the main reason sellers buy a crosslisting tool: the delist speed, not the listing speed.
It depends on the destination category, because eBay uses different condition sets per category. In clothing, Mercari's New maps to New with tags and Like New maps to New without tags — Mercari's own definition of Like New is lightly used or unused without tags, so mapping it to a pre-owned value undersells the item. Good, Fair and Poor map to Pre-owned Excellent, Good and Fair. In electronics, Mercari's Poor has a precise equivalent in For parts or not working, which clothing has no counterpart for.
Colour above all — Mercari has no colour field at all, while eBay requires or recommends it across most fashion categories. Beyond that, eBay demands per-category item specifics such as material, style and department, with material mandatory on many apparel categories. eBay also uses a Custom Label as a SKU, which Mercari does not expose, so FLUF Connect mints one.
Mapping your Mercari weight band to an eBay flat rate is the safe default, and it keeps the buyer experience consistent across both listings. Calculated shipping requires both weight and dimensions and varies the price by buyer location, which suits heavy or bulky items but can deter distant buyers. Note two Mercari-side costs: since January 2026 Mercari's cheaper Best rate needs dimensions, and omitting them silently drops you to the higher Standard rate; and packages over one pound always round up, so a 3.25 lb item needs a 4 lb label.
eBay has roughly thirty times Mercari's US audience — 136 million active buyers against 4.3 million monthly active users — so eBay should be your primary surface. Mercari earns its place three ways: its description text is searchable, so you need not cram everything into a title; its light-parcel shipping is cheaper, including a 49¢ First-Class envelope rate for trading cards running to 31 December 2026; and its 10% fee undercuts eBay's 13.6%. One seller crossposting 8,000 listings reported Mercari at under 15% of sales and still worth the work.
Yes, but only the right kind. Good-Til-Cancelled auto-renewal gives no ranking boost — there is no new listing ID and no position reset. Ending and relisting does create a new listing ID and appears to refresh standing, while revising preserves history and refreshes nothing. That is why scheduled relisting is a genuine lever on eBay and simply leaving a GTC listing to renew is not. Relisting and offer management are available on eBay through FLUF Connect but not yet on Mercari.
Neither has an exclusivity clause. Mercari's rule that “multiple listings for the same item will be removed” governs duplicates within Mercari; the part that matters to a crosslister is the requirement that a listing represent something actually available for purchase. eBay's user agreement carries the strictest automation language of the major marketplaces, prohibiting automated access except with eBay's express permission — but eBay also runs a public developer programme, which is why FLUF Connect's eBay channel is a sanctioned server-side API integration rather than a browser extension.
