Key Takeaways

  • This page is for sellers in Germany who run live shows on Whatnot and end up with stock that did not sell on stream.
  • Kleinanzeigen gives that stock a standing shop between shows, with local pickup and more than 35 million monthly users.
  • Whatnot’s commission in Germany now starts at 6.67% plus VAT for cards, sports and fashion and falls as your sales grow. A private Kleinanzeigen sale collected in person has no platform fee.
  • FLUF Connect keeps one inventory for both. A sale on either side ends the listing on the other, and FLUF can relist your Kleinanzeigen ads.

Who this route suits

You sell on Whatnot from Germany. Maybe Pokémon and sports cards, maybe sneakers or vintage clothing. Every show leaves a pile behind: the lot nobody bid on, the duplicates, the box of commons, the bulky piece that is awkward to show on camera. Those items wait on a shelf until the next stream, and some never get airtime at all.

Kleinanzeigen is a good home for that pile. Buyers there search at their own pace, by postcode, and many would rather collect in person than wait for a parcel. A €15 bundle of cards that got no bids at 21:00 on a Thursday can still find a collector two streets away on Saturday morning.

If you are a Kleinanzeigen seller thinking about going live on Whatnot, the opposite journey is covered in Kleinanzeigen to Whatnot.

How the two marketplaces differ

Whatnot Kleinanzeigen
How items sell Live auctions and show sales, plus fixed-price listings in the marketplace Classified ads with a fixed or negotiable price
Buyer mood Fast, in the moment, driven by the show Searching nearby, comparing, often haggling
Getting the item to the buyer Shipped Collected in person, or shipped with Kleinanzeigen’s DHL and Hermes labels
Seller fees Commission on the item price plus payment processing Private ads are free. Commercial sellers have category quotas and paid options

What each sale costs you

Whatnot changed its fees on 21 September 2026. The commission now depends on your sales over a four-week period and on the category. In Germany the starting rate is 6.67% for sports cards, trading card games and fashion. Sell more than €10,000 in four weeks and the rate drops for the next period, reaching 5.25% for cards and 4.25% for fashion at the top tier. Commission is charged on the item price only, not on shipping or tax. Payment processing is a separate fee, and VAT applies to Whatnot’s fees.

On Kleinanzeigen, a private seller placing a standard ad pays nothing. When a buyer pays through Sicher bezahlen, the buyer covers the €0.50 plus 4.5% protection fee. Shipping uses DHL or Hermes labels, priced by parcel size.

Take a €40 lot of cards. Sold in your Whatnot show at the starting rate, the commission is €2.67, with VAT on that fee and payment processing on top. The same lot sold on Kleinanzeigen to a buyer who collects and pays cash costs you nothing in platform fees. If that buyer wants it posted and pays with Sicher bezahlen instead, they pay €2.30 in protection fees and you pay only the postage you agreed.

Selling regularly changes the picture on Kleinanzeigen. If you buy stock to resell, you are a commercial seller and need a commercial account, with an Impressum on your ads. Commercial accounts work to listing quotas that vary by category; the Kleinanzeigen business help centre lists the current terms. Kleinanzeigen also reports sellers to the tax office once they reach 30 sales or €2,000 in a year.

Writing ads that work on Kleinanzeigen

Whatnot listings are written for a stream. They are short, because you do the talking. A Kleinanzeigen ad has to do that talking itself. Before you publish, add what a local buyer wants to know:

  • Pickup or post. “Abholung in Köln-Ehrenfeld” or “Versand möglich” tells buyers straight away whether you suit them.
  • What is in a lot. List the cards, sets or sizes. Buyers cannot ask you on camera.
  • Condition in plain words. For cards, say whether they are sleeved, played or straight from the pack.
  • A price with room. Kleinanzeigen buyers expect to make an offer, and “VB” (Verhandlungsbasis) signals you will listen.

Pick the Kleinanzeigen category with care, and check the one FLUF suggests. A wrong category hides an ad from the people browsing for exactly that item.

How FLUF Connect runs both

FLUF brings your Whatnot listings into one inventory. From there you choose which items go to Kleinanzeigen. FLUF fills in the ad from your listing and you check it, add your pickup details, and publish. When something sells, FLUF ends it on the other marketplace, so a card sold in Thursday’s show cannot also be collected by a Kleinanzeigen buyer on Saturday.

Relisting matters on Kleinanzeigen because older ads slide down the results. FLUF can put them back up for you, while your Whatnot show stock stays as it is.

Getting started

  1. Connect Whatnot and Kleinanzeigen through the FLUF browser extension while you are logged in to each.
  2. Let FLUF bring in your Whatnot listings.

  4. Add pickup details, check the category and price, and publish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not everything sells during a live show. Kleinanzeigen lets those leftovers, lots and duplicates sit in front of local buyers between streams, and many of those buyers are happy to collect in person.

Since 21 September 2026 Whatnot's commission depends on your sales over four weeks and on the category. It starts at 6.67% plus VAT for cards, sports and fashion and falls as your sales grow. It is charged on the item price only, and payment processing is a separate fee.

A standard ad from a private seller is free, and a sale collected in person has no platform fee. With Sicher bezahlen the buyer pays €0.50 plus 4.5%. If you resell stock as a business you need a commercial account, which works to listing quotas that vary by category.

FLUF sees the sale and removes the Kleinanzeigen ad. It works the other way too: a Kleinanzeigen sale ends the Whatnot listing, so the same card cannot be sold twice.

Yes, on plans above Starter. Relisting is not available for Whatnot, and neither marketplace has offer management in FLUF.

FLUF fills in the ad from your Whatnot listing, but it is worth adding pickup details, a fuller description of any lot, and a clear condition note. Kleinanzeigen buyers read the ad instead of watching you talk about the item.

Use the FLUF browser extension while you are logged in to Whatnot and to Kleinanzeigen. Once both are connected, FLUF brings in your Whatnot listings and you choose which to send.
