Sell online from Canada: every marketplace you can reach, and which ones are Canadian
eBay.ca still charges private sellers 13.6%, Kijiji sells for nothing but tells nobody when it does, and the CRA hears from every platform after 30 sales. The twenty marketplaces a Canadian seller can reach, what each charges in CAD, and how they settle.
- Canada is the one big English-speaking market where eBay still charges private sellers. eBay.ca takes 13.6% of the sale plus C$0.30–0.40 an order, with no private-seller exemption of the kind the UK, Germany and Australia now have.
- Kijiji is the local channel, and it is Canadian-only. Most goods categories carry no listing fee; the money Kijiji makes from ordinary sellers is in paid promotion and a handful of paid categories.
- Poshmark Canada charges C$3.95 under C$20 and 20% above it, plus GST/HST on the fee — and the buyer pays a flat C$12.49 for a Canada Post label, or C$6.99 for Purolator pick-up since May 2026.
- The CRA gets a report from every platform once you pass 30 sales or C$2,800 in a year. Being reported is not a tax bill; the GST/HST registration line is a separate C$30,000 of revenue.
- Interac e-Transfer is how Canadians settle a local sale — 1.16 billion transfers in 2023 — which is why a Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace deal leaves no order record for any tool to read.
- Twenty of the channels FLUF Connect drives are reachable from Canada, out of 51 in total. Five have a Canadian storefront rather than a global one: Kijiji, Poshmark, Whatnot, Amazon.ca and Square.
- 7 days for £1, then from £9/month, then plans from £9/month.

Which marketplaces you can reach from Canada
Twenty of the marketplaces FLUF Connect connects to are open to a seller with a Canadian address. Five are listed for Canada specifically rather than worldwide: Kijiji has no equivalent anywhere else, Poshmark operates only in the United States and Canada, and Amazon, Whatnot and Square each run a Canadian storefront with its own fee schedule. The rest are global channels. Two names people expect are missing on purpose: neither Vinted nor Mercari is open to Canadian sellers.
| Marketplace | What it is for a Canadian seller | Needs the extension? | Beyond crosslisting, FLUF also |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kijiji | The Canadian classifieds board; local pick-up, cash or e-Transfer | Yes | Imports your ads, ends them when the item sells elsewhere |
| Poshmark | Fashion resale with a Canada-only feed and prepaid labels | Yes | Relisting, ends the listing when sold elsewhere |
| Whatnot | Live-stream auctions, Canadian sellers and buyers | Yes | Order sync, ends the listing when sold elsewhere |
| Amazon.ca | One of the Amazon stores FLUF connects to, priced in CAD | No | Stock and price updates, ends the offer when sold elsewhere |
| Square | Your Square catalogue, if you also sell at markets or in a shop | No | Zeroes stock when the item sells elsewhere |
| eBay.ca | The biggest general marketplace here; fees billed in CAD | No | Order sync, relisting, offers, sold-elsewhere protection |
| Etsy | Handmade, vintage and supplies; CAD listings, USD listing fee | No | Order sync, relisting, sold-elsewhere protection |
| Depop | Youth fashion resale; Canadian sellers still pay the 10% fee | No | Order sync, relisting, offers, sold-elsewhere protection |
| Facebook Marketplace | Kijiji’s main rival for local selling | Yes | Ends the listing when sold elsewhere |
| Grailed, Vestiaire Collective | Menswear and designer resale, global buyer pools | Yes | Vestiaire: orders, relisting, offers. Grailed: sold-elsewhere protection |
| Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce, PrestaShop | Your own storefront | No | Orders on all but Squarespace; stock zeroed when sold elsewhere on all but WooCommerce |
| AbeBooks, Discogs, Tradera | Books, records, and a Swedish auction site open to overseas sellers | No | AbeBooks and Discogs: orders and sold-elsewhere protection. Tradera: crosslisting only |
The five with a Canadian storefront
Kijiji is the channel that exists nowhere else. It is a classifieds site, so a sale is a conversation and a hand-over rather than a checkout, and Kijiji itself never knows an item has gone. FLUF Connect connects to Kijiji through the FLUF browser extension, brings your existing ads into your catalogue, and ends a Kijiji ad the moment the same item sells anywhere else. What it cannot do is notice a Kijiji sale — there is no order to read — so when you hand something over at a Tim Hortons, you mark it sold in FLUF and the other listings come down.
Poshmark in Canada is a separate marketplace from the American one: prices are in CAD and the label is Canadian. It connects through the extension. FLUF relists on Poshmark and pulls a listing when the item sells elsewhere; it does not import Poshmark orders, so a Poshmark sale is one you mark sold yourself.
Whatnot accepts Canadian sellers. It connects through the extension, and it is the one Canadian-storefront channel where FLUF reads orders back as well as ending listings that sold elsewhere — useful, because a live auction sells fast.
Amazon.ca is one of the Amazon stores FLUF connects to. It needs no extension. FLUF crosslists to it, updates stock and price, and zeroes the offer when the item sells on another channel; Amazon sales are not yet detected, so an Amazon order is another one to mark sold in FLUF until that lands.
Square matters if you also do markets, pop-ups or a shop. FLUF’s job on Square is narrow: when the item sells on a marketplace, the Square stock count goes to zero so the till cannot sell it again.
What each one charges, in Canadian dollars
The number that surprises sellers from the UK or Australia is eBay’s. eBay.ca charges everyone without a Store subscription a final value fee of 13.6% on the total amount of the sale up to C$7,500, then 2.35% above that, plus a per-order fee of C$0.30 on orders of C$10 or less and C$0.40 above, all in Canadian dollars. Books, movies and music are 15.3%. You get 250 zero-insertion-fee listings a month, then C$0.30 each. There is no private-seller exemption.
| Marketplace | Fee to the seller (CAD) | Listing fee |
|---|---|---|
| eBay.ca | 13.6% of the sale + C$0.30–0.40 per order | 250 a month included, then C$0.30 |
| Poshmark Canada | C$3.95 flat under C$20; 20% at C$20 and above, plus GST/HST on the fee at your province’s rate | None |
| Kijiji | None on a sale | Free within category limits; fees in some categories and for business postings; paid Top Ad, Bump Up and Highlight |
| Etsy | 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing of 3% + C$0.25, and a 1.15% regulatory operating fee for Canadian sellers | US$0.20 per listing, converted to CAD |
| Amazon.ca | Referral fee by category: clothing 10% under C$20 and 17% from C$20; footwear, books, home and toys 15%; electronics 8%; minimum C$0.40 | Professional plan C$29.99 a month, or C$1.49 per item on Individual |
| Whatnot | 8% commission (5% electronics, 4% coins) + 2.9% + C$0.30 payment processing on the whole order | None |
| Depop | 10% selling fee plus payment processing — the fee removal for US and UK sellers has not reached Canada | None |
Shipping inside Canada: Canada Post, Purolator and the Poshmark label
Canada Post is the default because it is the only carrier that reaches every address. Its two parcel services differ mainly in speed: Regular Parcel is 1–3 days locally and 4–10 days nationally, with tracking and C$100 of liability cover included; Expedited Parcel is 1–2 days locally and 2–8 nationally, with the same C$100 cover and an on-time guarantee. Canada Post’s Solutions for Small Business membership costs nothing and unlocks preferred rates.
Purolator, UPS and Canpar are the courier alternatives; resellers such as FlagShip pool volume across them and pass on discounted commercial rates with no minimum.
Poshmark sidesteps all of this. Every Poshmark Canada sale comes with a prepaid label, the buyer pays a flat rate at checkout, and since 26 May 2026 there are two options: Canada Post Home Delivery at C$12.49, which stays on by default, and Purolator Pick Up at C$6.99, which you enable in your shipping settings and which sends the parcel to a Purolator Access Point for the buyer to collect within five business days.
How Canadian buyers pay
The Canadian habit to learn is Interac e-Transfer. Canadians used it for 1.16 billion transfers in 2023, up 11% on the year, and it had already moved C$338 billion in the twelve months to April 2022. On Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace it has largely replaced cash, and there is no platform record of it at all.
On your own storefront, Shopify Payments in Canada charges 2.8% + C$0.30 per online card transaction on the C$49-a-month Basic plan, 2.6% on Grow and 2.4% on Advanced, with in-person Interac debit at a flat C$0.15.
GST/HST, and what the platforms tell the CRA
Two thresholds get confused. The first is registration for GST/HST. You are a small supplier, and need not register or charge the tax, until your worldwide taxable revenues exceed C$30,000 in a single calendar quarter or over four consecutive quarters. Cross it in one quarter and you must charge GST/HST on the sale that took you over; cross it over four quarters and you have until the end of the month after that quarter. Either way you register within 29 days, and the count includes associated businesses. The rate you then charge depends on the buyer’s province.
The second is reporting. Under the Reporting Rules for Digital Platform Operators, in force since 1 January 2024, every marketplace has to identify its sellers and send the CRA an annual return, and give you a copy by 31 January. You are an excluded seller — not reported at all — only if the platform facilitated fewer than 30 sales of goods and paid you no more than C$2,800 in the year; both conditions have to hold, and it is counted per platform. Being reported is a data transfer, not a tax bill, and being excluded does not make the income untaxed. Ask an accountant whether what you sell is business income or personal property.
Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace, and the names that are not on the list
Kijiji calls itself Canada’s number one local marketplace, and for furniture, vehicles and anything with a postcode it is still where buyers search first. Facebook Marketplace has been taking share in the cities, and the honest answer for a reseller is that the two are run together rather than chosen between: same photos, same price, whichever produces the buyer wins. FLUF Connect drives both.
VarageSale, the Toronto-born neighbourhood app, is still running and was taken over by the auction company MaxSold in early 2026; FLUF does not connect to it. Poshmark’s Canadian feed is walled off from its American one, so a Toronto closet does not appear to a buyer in Buffalo.
Listing on several without selling one item twice
The Canadian version of the problem has a specific shape: Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace produce no order record when they sell, and Poshmark’s orders are ones FLUF does not read. So: one product record in FLUF Connect, published to the channels you choose; when it sells on eBay, Etsy, Depop, Whatnot, Vestiaire Collective, Shopify or another channel with order sync, everything else comes down untouched. When it sells for e-Transfer at your door, or on Poshmark or Amazon.ca, you mark it sold in FLUF and the same thing happens.
Kijiji, Poshmark, Whatnot, Facebook Marketplace, Grailed and Vestiaire Collective all need the FLUF browser extension; eBay, Etsy, Depop, Amazon, Square and the storefront platforms connect from the FLUF dashboard and need no open browser. Relisting is available on eBay, Etsy, Depop, Poshmark and Vestiaire Collective; offer management on eBay, Depop and Vestiaire Collective.

What we could not verify directly: Kijiji publishes no single price list for Top Ad, Bump Up or Highlight — the cost varies by city and category and shows only when you post. The Etsy, Whatnot and Depop figures come from help pages that block automated readers; check them before relying on them. Kijiji’s lead over Facebook Marketplace is Kijiji’s own claim. Nothing here is tax advice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Twenty of the channels FLUF Connect drives are open to a seller with a Canadian address, out of 50+ in total. Five are listed for Canada specifically rather than worldwide: Kijiji, Poshmark, Whatnot, Amazon.ca and Square. The rest are global channels reachable from here, including eBay, Etsy, Depop, Facebook Marketplace, Grailed, Vestiaire Collective and the storefront platforms such as Shopify and WooCommerce. Vinted and Mercari are not open to Canadian sellers.
Yes. Unlike eBay in the UK, Germany or Australia, eBay.ca has no private-seller exemption: everyone without a Store subscription pays 13.6% of the total sale up to C$7,500 (2.35% above that) plus a per-order fee of C$0.30 on orders of C$10 or less and C$0.40 above, all billed in Canadian dollars. You get 250 listings a month without an insertion fee, then C$0.30 each.
A flat C$3.95 on sales under C$20, and 20% on sales of C$20 or more, with GST/HST charged on top of the fee at the rate for your province. The buyer pays postage separately at checkout: C$12.49 for a Canada Post Home Delivery label, or C$6.99 for Purolator Pick Up, an option sellers have been able to enable since 26 May 2026. Poshmark generates the prepaid label for you when the item sells.
For most ordinary goods, yes: there is no commission on a sale and no listing fee within each category’s limit on active ads. Kijiji charges in certain categories, such as services and some vehicle listings, applies listing fees to business postings in some categories, and sells paid promotion such as Top Ad, Bump Up and Highlight, priced by city and category when you post. A Kijiji sale is settled between you and the buyer, usually by cash or Interac e-Transfer.
Since 1 January 2024 every digital platform has to identify its sellers and file an annual return with the Canada Revenue Agency, giving you a copy by 31 January. You are left out only if the platform facilitated fewer than 30 sales of goods and paid you no more than C$2,800 in the year; both conditions must hold, and each platform counts separately. Being reported is a data transfer, not a tax bill, and being excluded does not make the income untaxed.
When your worldwide taxable revenues, including those of associated businesses, exceed C$30,000 in a single calendar quarter or over four consecutive quarters. Cross it in one quarter and you must charge GST/HST on the sale that took you over; cross it gradually and you stop being a small supplier at the end of the month after that quarter. You register within 29 days of the effective date. The rate you charge then depends on the buyer’s province.
No, and it says so. Kijiji is a classifieds site with no checkout, so no order exists for any tool to read; Poshmark orders are not imported either, and neither are Amazon.ca sales yet. For those channels you mark the item sold in FLUF and every other listing comes down. Where FLUF does read orders — eBay, Etsy, Depop, Whatnot, Vestiaire Collective, Shopify and the other storefronts — the other channels are cleared automatically.
Kijiji, Poshmark and Whatnot all connect through the FLUF browser extension, as do Facebook Marketplace, Grailed and Vestiaire Collective. eBay, Etsy, Depop, Amazon.ca, Square, Shopify, WooCommerce and the other storefront platforms connect from the FLUF dashboard and do not need an open browser.
