Crosslist from eBay to Kleinanzeigen — Automatically

Kleinanzeigen is not eBay and your listings do not cross over. Move them automatically instead — titles, photos, prices and condition, with two-way inventory sync.

Key Takeaways — eBay to Kleinanzeigen Crosslisting

  • They are not the same company, and your listings do not cross over. Kleinanzeigen dropped the eBay name in May 2023. There is no shared login, no “also list on Kleinanzeigen” button, and no crossposting feature anywhere in either platform.
  • eBay is a national search marketplace with buyer protection and shipping built in. Kleinanzeigen is Germany’s local classifieds giant — 32.8 million average monthly active users and roughly 56.9 million live ads.
  • Both are close to free for a German private seller: eBay.de charges no selling commission within Germany, and Kleinanzeigen gives 100 free ads per rolling 30 days before charging €1.99 each.
  • Fields that transfer: title (trimmed from eBay’s 80 characters to Kleinanzeigen’s 65), description, photos, price and condition, with the category mapped from eBay’s deep tree onto Kleinanzeigen’s shallower one.
  • Sync works in both directions. Kleinanzeigen confirms its own sales, so a sale on either channel clears the item from the other automatically.
  • Cost: start with a 7-day trial for £1, then plans from £9/month (Starter — 300 products). There is no free plan; automation is included in every plan.

On This Page

First, the Misconception: Kleinanzeigen Is Not eBay

This page exists partly because a great many German sellers assume the work is already done. The platform spent thirteen years called eBay Kleinanzeigen, and the assumption that an eBay listing shows up there — or that one account covers both — is extremely common. It is also wrong, and has been for years.

Kleinanzeigen dropped the eBay name on 16 May 2023, keeping accounts, chats, ratings and ads intact but ending the brand relationship. What remains today is essentially nothing:

  • Kleinanzeigen’s terms of use do not mention eBay once.
  • Its help centre contains no article about linking an eBay account, sharing a login, sharing an inbox, or crossposting between the two.
  • Payments run through Adyen, licensed by the Dutch central bank — not through eBay’s payments stack.
  • There are no auctions at all. As Kleinanzeigen puts it on its own about page: “Auktionen gibt es auf Kleinanzeigen nicht.”
  • Kleinanzeigen addresses the confusion directly on the same page: for many people it still sounds like eBay, “Das stimmt so aber schon seit einigen Jahren nicht mehr” — that has not been true for some years.

Corporately, Kleinanzeigen sits inside the Adevinta group, itself taken private by a Permira and Blackstone consortium in June 2024. eBay Inc. holds a small passive financial stake in that holding company and states in its own quarterly filing that it is not able to exercise significant influence. A minority investment is not an integration.

So: two accounts, two listings, two inboxes. Which is exactly the work worth automating.

Why an eBay Seller Should Add Kleinanzeigen

The two platforms sell in genuinely different ways, and that is the point rather than a drawback.

eBay is a search marketplace. A buyer arrives knowing what they want, compares listings nationally, pays through the platform and expects it shipped. That works beautifully for anything small, valuable per kilo, and easy to describe.

Kleinanzeigen is where the rest of your stock lives. Its own Digital Services Act disclosure reports 32.803 million average monthly active users in the EU for January to June 2026, published — as Kleinanzeigen itself notes — from external tracking data that may double-count. Its category index showed roughly 56.9 million live ads across 15 top-level categories on 20 August 2026, with Familie/Kind/Baby, Mode & Beauty and Haus & Garten each carrying over ten million.

Three kinds of eBay stock do noticeably better with a Kleinanzeigen ad alongside:

  • Anything bulky. Furniture, appliances, exercise equipment, bicycles. eBay makes you solve shipping; Kleinanzeigen lets a buyer collect.
  • Anything low-value. Below about €15, shipping economics stop working on eBay. On Kleinanzeigen an ad costs nothing and the buyer comes to you.
  • Anything slow. A listing that has sat on eBay for months has exhausted the buyers who search for it. Kleinanzeigen’s audience browses rather than searches, and geography does some of the selling.

There is a second, structural reason. Kleinanzeigen’s general categories give free ads unlimited free renewals — so unlike almost every other channel, an item can sit there indefinitely at no cost, waiting for its buyer.

How the Crosslist Works

  1. Connect eBay. OAuth, approved once from your eBay account.
  2. Connect Kleinanzeigen. Kleinanzeigen has no public seller API — the only feed interface it documents is an FTP route for estate agents. FLUF works through your own logged-in Kleinanzeigen session, so ads are placed by you, from your account, exactly as if typed.
  3. Import your eBay listings. Titles, descriptions, photos, prices, condition and item specifics come across into one catalogue.
  4. Review the mapping. Kleinanzeigen’s taxonomy is much shallower than eBay’s and its category identifier sits above the leaf, with item type carried in a separate attribute. FLUF resolves both.
  5. Crosslist. Select the items, confirm, and the ads go live with shipping options and a “Sicher bezahlen” configuration attached.

What Transfers When You Crosslist from eBay to Kleinanzeigen?

Field mapping — eBay to Kleinanzeigen

eBay field Kleinanzeigen field Transfer status Notes
Title (80 characters) Titel (65 characters) ⚡ Trimmed Fifteen characters have to go. eBay titles are keyword-dense by design; the trim usually costs a repeated keyword rather than meaning, but it is worth reviewing on items where the model number sits at the end.
Description Beschreibung ⚡ Cleaned eBay descriptions frequently carry HTML templates, tables and banner images. Kleinanzeigen ads are plain — the description is flattened rather than transplanted.
Photos (up to 24) Bilder ✅ Automatic Kleinanzeigen accepts jpg, gif, heic and png at up to 12 MB each.
Price Preis ✅ Automatic Both in euros. Kleinanzeigen also has a “VB” (negotiable) flag eBay has no equivalent for.
Condition Zustand ⚡ Mapped eBay’s long, category-dependent list collapses onto Kleinanzeigen’s shorter one.
Category Kategorie ⚡ Smart mapped Kleinanzeigen’s identifier is a branch rather than a leaf — one women’s-shoes category covers pumps, trainers and lace-ups alike, with the actual type in a separate attribute.
Item specifics Attribute ⚡ Mapped Kleinanzeigen’s attribute set per category is much smaller than eBay’s; surplus specifics are dropped rather than forced.
Brand Marke attribute ⚡ Mapped Where the category defines one.
Shipping policy Versandoptionen ⚡ Mapped FLUF attaches Kleinanzeigen’s standard Hermes and DHL options rather than trying to translate your eBay policy.
Quantity ❌ Not applicable A Kleinanzeigen ad is a single item, not a stocked SKU.
Auction format, Best Offer ❌ Not available Kleinanzeigen has no auctions; negotiation happens in chat.
Returns policy ❌ Not applicable Private classifieds sales carry no statutory return right; commercial sellers carry their own obligations.

Category mapping examples

eBay category Kleinanzeigen category What changes
Möbel & Wohnen → Möbel → Sofas & Sessel Haus & Garten → Wohnzimmer Much shallower; the specific furniture type moves into an attribute
Kleidung & Accessoires → Damenmode → Damenschuhe Mode & Beauty → Damenschuhe One branch covers every shoe type; eBay’s mandatory item specifics have no equivalent
TV, Video & Audio → Fernseher Elektronik → TV & Video Local collection becomes viable for an item eBay makes you crate
Baby → Kinderwagen Familie, Kind & Baby → Kinderwagen & Buggys Kleinanzeigen’s largest category by ad volume

Fields that need your attention

The title trim is the one to watch. eBay’s 80 characters exist to be filled with search terms; Kleinanzeigen’s 65 do not stretch that far, and Kleinanzeigen’s audience browses categories more than it searches strings. In practice the trimmed title reads better, but check anything where an identifying detail — a model number, a capacity, a size — sits at the end of the eBay title.

eBay description templates do not survive. If your eBay listings use a seller template with a header image, a table of specifications and a footer of policies, none of that belongs in a Kleinanzeigen ad and none of it renders there. The useful content is the specification block; the rest is furniture built for a different room.

“Sicher bezahlen” is on by default. Kleinanzeigen adds its protected-payment option automatically in eligible categories and it cannot be fully switched off — the documented way to publish without it is to set the ad to “Nur Abholung”, collection only. If you are listing bulky goods for local pickup, that is what you want anyway.

What Each Channel Costs

For a German private seller this pair is unusually cheap, and it is worth being precise about where the costs actually sit.

eBay.de (private seller) Kleinanzeigen (private seller)
Listing 320 free per month, then €0.50 100 free new ads per rolling 30 days, then €1.99
Selling commission None within Germany None
Buyer-side fee None on eBay.de Sicher bezahlen: €0.50 + 4.5%, paid by the buyer
Listing duration Renewable; auto-relists do not consume the free quota 60 days, with free unlimited renewals in general categories
Selling abroad 5% international fee when the delivery address is outside Germany Not possible — Sicher bezahlen is Germany-only
Photos Up to 24, free Up to 12 MB per image

Two things to note. eBay Germany’s free private selling is genuinely free within Germany: “Der Verkauf von Artikeln auf eBay.de ist innerhalb Deutschlands kostenlos”. Ship abroad and a flat 5% international fee applies to the whole transaction. And Kleinanzeigen’s free allowance is a rolling 30-day window counting new ads — deleting and re-posting still burns it, and a fee once paid is not refunded if you delete the ad early.

Vehicles are the exception on the Kleinanzeigen side and worth flagging if that is your stock: cars get two free ads per 30 days under €30,000 and then €9.99 each, and since 21 May 2026 any vehicle ad priced at €45,000 or more carries a mandatory €9.99 fee from the first ad, regardless of user type.

What Syncs Between eBay and Kleinanzeigen

This is one of the cleaner pairs in the matrix, because both channels confirm their own sales.

Event What happens Timing
Item sells on eBay The Kleinanzeigen ad is removed automatically Within minutes
Item sells on Kleinanzeigen The eBay listing is ended automatically Within minutes
Sale completes through Sicher bezahlen Ingested into FLUF’s unified orders feed Within minutes
eBay order placed Ingested into the same orders feed Within minutes
Price changed on eBay Not mirrored to a live Kleinanzeigen ad N/A
Description edited on eBay Not mirrored to a live Kleinanzeigen ad N/A
Kleinanzeigen ad approaches its 60-day expiry Handled by FLUF’s auto-relisting Per relisting cycle
eBay listing ends Handled by FLUF’s auto-relisting Per relisting cycle
Two-way overselling protection, properly

Kleinanzeigen reports the status of its own transactions, which is what makes the reverse direction safe here. That is not true of every classifieds site: where a platform only lets you observe that an ad has vanished, disappearance usually means expiry rather than a sale, and treating it as a sale would delist live stock everywhere else. Kleinanzeigen tells us, so the protection runs both ways without guessing — sell it on either channel and it comes down from the other within minutes.

Crosslisting from eBay to Kleinanzeigen: Before and After FLUF Connect

Without FLUF Connect

  1. Open the eBay listing and copy the title
  2. Trim it from 80 characters to 65 without losing the identifying detail
  3. Copy the description and strip the HTML template, tables and policy footer
  4. Download each photo individually
  5. Log into Kleinanzeigen — a separate account with its own SMS verification
  6. Start a new ad and find the matching category in a very different tree
  7. Re-enter condition on Kleinanzeigen’s scale
  8. Fill in the category’s attributes by hand
  9. Upload photos one at a time
  10. Choose shipping options, or set the ad to collection only
  11. Publish, and note somewhere which eBay listing this ad matches
  12. Every 60 days, renew the ad before its window closes — expired ads cannot be restored
  13. When it sells on either side, go to the other platform and remove it

Time per item: roughly 8–12 minutes.

With FLUF Connect

  1. Select the eBay listings you want on Kleinanzeigen
  2. Click crosslist to Kleinanzeigen
  3. Review the pre-filled category, condition and attributes
  4. Confirm

Time per item: about 30 seconds, with two-way sold-out protection running afterwards.

Time saved per 100 items

By hand: roughly 13–20 hours, plus a 60-day renewal cycle you have to remember or lose the ad. With FLUF Connect: under an hour, with renewals on a schedule and neither channel able to sell an item the other already sold.

Automation Features for eBay and Kleinanzeigen Sellers

Auto-Relisting on Both Channels

Both channels support auto-relisting, and both need it. Kleinanzeigen ads run 60 days, send a reminder a week before expiry, and give an eight-day renewal window — after which the ad cannot be restored and has to be recreated from scratch. eBay listings end and need renewing on their own cycle. Running the two by hand means tracking two clocks per item.

Offer Management on eBay

eBay supports offers to watchers and automated handling of incoming ones through FLUF’s offer management. Kleinanzeigen negotiates in chat instead, with a “VB” flag signalling a price is negotiable, so this one is eBay-side only.

Order Sync on Both

Sales from both channels land in the same orders feed, which for this pair means one place to look rather than an eBay dashboard plus a Kleinanzeigen inbox.

Auto-Crosslisting Rules and Bulk Operations

Rules by category, price band or brand push new eBay listings to Kleinanzeigen automatically — the obvious rule for this pair being anything bulky or under about €15, where eBay’s shipping economics do not work. Bulk find-and-replace is the quick way to strip eBay template language across a whole catalogue before the first push.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, and this is the most common misconception about the pair. Kleinanzeigen dropped the eBay name in May 2023 and there is no shared login, no crossposting feature, and no shared inbox. Its terms of use do not mention eBay once and its help centre has no article about linking the two. You need a separate Kleinanzeigen account and a separate ad for every item — which is precisely the work worth automating.

Every new seller gets a 7-day trial for £1 with full access. After that, plans start at £9/month (Starter — 300 products). There is no free plan. Every plan includes crosslisting, inventory sync, auto-crosslisting rules and bulk operations across all supported channels, not just these two — automation is built into every plan rather than sold as a paid add-on. eBay's and Kleinanzeigen's own charges are separate.

Very little. eBay Germany charges no selling commission within Germany and gives 320 free listings a month. Kleinanzeigen gives 100 free new ads per rolling 30 days in its general categories, then €1.99 per further ad. Kleinanzeigen's Sicher bezahlen fee of €0.50 plus 4.5% is paid by the buyer, not the seller. The main cost to watch is eBay's flat 5% international fee when the delivery address is outside Germany.

Yes. Kleinanzeigen confirms the status of its own transactions, so a sale on either channel clears the item from the other within minutes. That is not true of every classifieds site — where a platform only lets you observe that an ad has vanished, disappearance usually means expiry rather than a sale.

It is trimmed from eBay's 80 characters to Kleinanzeigen's 65. eBay titles are keyword-dense by design, so the trim usually costs a repeated keyword rather than meaning — but check anything where a model number, capacity or size sits at the end of the title.

It is flattened. eBay descriptions often carry HTML templates with header images, specification tables and policy footers, and none of that renders in a Kleinanzeigen ad. The specification content survives; the surrounding furniture does not.

Three kinds. Anything bulky, where eBay makes you solve shipping and Kleinanzeigen lets a buyer collect. Anything under about €15, where shipping economics stop working on eBay. And anything that has sat on eBay for months, since it has already been seen by everyone who searches for it. Kleinanzeigen's general categories also renew free and unlimited, so an item can wait indefinitely for its buyer at no cost.

Not entirely. Kleinanzeigen adds it automatically in eligible categories and states that it cannot be fully disabled — the documented route to publishing without it is to set the ad to “Nur Abholung”, collection only. For bulky goods listed for local pickup, that is what you want anyway.

About 30 seconds per item, against roughly eight to twelve minutes by hand. Auto-crosslisting rules push new eBay listings across without you opening the dashboard — the obvious rule for this pair being anything bulky or under about €15.

Yes. Every plan covers all supported channels, so adding Vinted, Willhaben, Etsy or Depop costs a connection rather than another subscription.
