Tradera to Etsy: crosslist Swedish second-hand stock that actually qualifies

The qualifying test — do this first

Before anything else: hold one item in your hand and answer three questions about it. If all three are no, that item does not go on Etsy.

1. Was it made 20 or more years ago? In 2026 that means manufactured in 2006 or earlier — not styled to look old, not “retro”, actually two decades old. This is the “Handpicked by a seller” route in Etsy’s Creativity Standards, last updated 10 June 2025.
2. Is it a craft supply or a party supply? Beads, findings, fabric by the metre, yarn, buttons, trims, balloons, cake toppers. The “Sourced by a seller” route — the one place where buying stock in to resell is allowed.
3. Did you design it yourself? You made it, or you designed it and had a production partner make it — and you name that partner in the listing.

Three noes means it is a resale, and Etsy’s Seller Policy, effective 9 July 2026, says: “Dropshipping and reselling are not allowed on Etsy, except in the specific cases outlined in this Help article, such as craft supplies.” Etsy’s help centre puts the same rule the other way round: items “must be original creations, not ready-made or commercially available products.”

The reason this test sits at the top of a Tradera page rather than halfway down is arithmetic. Tradera became a purely circular, second-hand-only marketplace in 2019. Every single item in a Tradera account is used. On most crosslisting routes that is an advantage. Here it means the default answer is no, and your job is to find the minority of stock that is a yes rather than import a catalogue and hope.

Three specific things sellers get wrong on this route, all of them expensive:

• “Vintage” in Swedish resale usage is not Etsy’s vintage. A 1998 Levi’s jacket qualifies. A 2012 one that looks like it does not, however it was described where you bought it.
• Second-hand ready-to-wear under 20 years old is named as excluded, as is a resold blank — a plain t-shirt, hat or tumbler — even if you bought it new and resell it honestly.
• Age has to be evidenced, not asserted. Union labels, care-label formats, maker’s marks, backstamps, matrix numbers in vinyl run-out grooves. If you cannot show why an item is pre-2006, you are one report away from having to.

If your stock fails the test

Then send it somewhere that wants it. This is the most useful outcome this page has, because the alternative — listing modern second-hand goods on Etsy and waiting — ends in a suspension that also takes down the items that were eligible. Etsy suspends the shop, not the listing.

• Tradera to eBay is the natural home for most of a Tradera catalogue. eBay takes ordinary used goods in essentially every category, it runs auctions as well as fixed prices so your Tradera format carries over conceptually, and FLUF manages it without an open browser — relisting, order sync, offer management, fulfilment and mark-as-sold.
• Tradera to Vinted is the natural home for clothing, Tradera’s fourth-biggest category by sales. Vinted is second-hand only by design, charges the seller nothing at all, and operates in Sweden directly, so it is a domestic move rather than an export.

A realistic split for a Swedish second-hand seller: the mid-century glass, the 1970s Scandinavian homeware, the vinyl and the genuinely old clothing go to Etsy; everything else goes to eBay or Vinted. That is not a consolation prize — it is a stock sort you would have had to do eventually, done before it costs you an account.

The fur trap, and the other suspension triggers

One category clears the age test and is still banned. Etsy’s Prohibited Items policy, updated 11 August 2026, now bars natural animal fur outright — with no vintage exemption. So a genuinely 1985 mink coat is 40 years old, comfortably past the 20-year line, and cannot be listed on Etsy at all.

This matters more on a Tradera page than on most: antiques and vintage clothing are exactly where Tradera is strong, and fur is common in Nordic vintage stock. A seller who has correctly learnt the 20-year rule will assume fur is the easiest thing they own to list. It is the one thing they cannot.

The other ways a shop gets suspended, none of them exotic:

• An undisclosed production partner. If anyone but you physically made it, name them.
• Undisclosed AI use. Etsy’s Creativity Standards require it to be declared.
• Stock photographs. You are selling one specific object with its own wear. A manufacturer image, or one pulled from a search result, is a policy breach and a description failure at once.
• Misrepresenting how or by whom an item was made — the umbrella the other three sit under, and the one read most strictly.
• Housekeeping failures — duplicate shops, overdue bills, failed identity verification, moving a buyer off-platform.

One piece of good news: your Tradera photographs are usually fine to carry over, because Tradera sellers already shoot the actual item — a real advantage over crosslisting from a retail catalogue. Just check that what you carry over is the object and not a reference shot added for context.

Why the qualifying stock is worth moving

Because Tradera is strong in precisely the categories where the 20-year test is easiest to pass, and Etsy pays international prices for them.

Tradera’s 2025 top categories by sales read: collectables first, antiques and design second, music third, clothing fourth. That is the top four, and three of them are categories where the 20-year test is routinely satisfied. Tradera sold about 12 million items in 2025 and passed 700 million cumulative listings that November. A Swedish seller sitting on 1960s glass, 1970s teak and ceramics, original pressings, or clothing with pre-2006 labels is holding stock that Etsy actively wants and that a domestic Swedish auction frequently under-prices — because the buyer pool for Scandinavian mid-century design is not in Sweden, it is everywhere else.

Etsy’s scale is filed with the SEC, so it is safe to plan against. For the quarter ended 30 June 2026 the Etsy marketplace reported $2.583 billion of gross merchandise sales, up 7.5%, on 5.71 million active sellers and about 87.0 million active buyers, at $124 of trailing-twelve-month sales per buyer.

The other half of the argument is format. Tradera is an auction house: 3 to 14 day auctions, a “Köp nu” fixed price, or both, and the Köp nu price disappears the moment a bid lands. Etsy is a fixed-price shop with a four-month listing life. An unusual item that found no Swedish bidder in a 10-day window has simply not been offered to a global vintage audience with months to find it. That, not the fees, is the reason to run both.

What each marketplace takes

First, discard something you may have read: a Bing AI summary currently states that Tradera is free to list and sell on with no seller fees. That is false. Tradera charges a commission, and it charges for unsold listings past a threshold.

Etsy’s fee stack is four things, not one. A $0.20 listing fee charged on publish whether or not the item sells, expiring after four months and costing another $0.20 to renew. A 6.5% transaction fee on the total order, which Etsy says explicitly “applies to postage and gift wrapping (if you charge your customers for those).” Then Etsy Payments processing, set country by country, and optionally Offsite Ads.

What Etsy costs a Swedish seller specifically

Etsy Payments processing in Sweden is 4% + 3.00 kr per order. That fixed component is an outlier and it is worth knowing about. On the same Etsy table, most of the euro area pays 4% + €0.30, the United Kingdom 4% + £0.20, Denmark 4% + 2.50 DKK and Norway 4% + 2.50 NOK. Sweden’s 3.00 kr is more than double the €0.30 the rest of the EU pays on the fixed part — a small absolute number that bites hardest on cheap items, which is exactly where a lot of second-hand stock sits.

Two things go the other way. Sweden has no Regulatory Operating Fee — Etsy charges it in nine countries and Sweden is not one of them. And SEK is a supported Etsy payout currency, with direct bank deposit defaulting to weekly on Mondays, so you list in kronor and are paid in kronor rather than eating a currency conversion.

The worked example that decides this page. Take a SEK 500 sale. Etsy takes 6.5% = 32.50 kr in transaction fee, 4% + 3 kr = 23 kr in processing, plus the $0.20 listing fee, roughly 2 kr. That is about SEK 58, or 11.6% all-in — before VAT on Etsy’s fees and before any Offsite Ads charge. Tradera on the same 500 kr sale takes 10%, or 50 kr, and nothing else. Etsy is the more expensive of the two, and the gap widens with price, because Tradera’s commission stops at 200 kr and Etsy’s percentages never stop. On a SEK 5,000 piece of glass, Tradera takes its capped 200 kr — 4%. Etsy takes roughly 530 kr, about 10.6%: two and a half times as much on the same object.

The United Kingdom schedule, which we also checked, lands slightly worse: a £30 item with £4 postage costs about £4.09, roughly 12%, including a 0.48% regulatory fee Sweden does not pay. Add an Offsite Ad at 15% to either example and you are past a quarter of the order.

Now the structural difference, which is the one that ambushes auction sellers. Tradera’s fee page gives you the first 500 listings in a period at no listing cost, and its commission has a hard 200 kr ceiling — so on Tradera, stock that does not sell is close to costless, and expensive stock is cheap to sell. The unsold-listing fee is 10 kr as standard but only 3 kr in ten discounted categories — among them antiques and design, collectables, art, coins, stamps, books and music, which is very nearly a list of the stock that passes Etsy’s 20-year test. Etsy inverts both. Every listing costs $0.20 the moment you publish it and another $0.20 every four months you keep it up, sold or unsold; and the percentages have no cap at all. Etsy is the better place to find the buyer for that piece. It is not the cheaper place to sell it.

One more contrast: Tradera Marketplace AB is an authorised payment institution supervised by Finansinspektionen, and its payment services are free to both sides. No processing percentage sits on top of the 10%, and sellers are always paid in SEK. Etsy’s 4% + 3 kr is a genuine extra layer.

So do not bulk-publish 400 items to Etsy to see what happens. On Tradera that experiment costs almost nothing. On Etsy it is a bill every four months, forever, for everything that did not sell.

The sold-out warning that is specific to this pair

Tradera currently supports connection and catalogue import only. FLUF cannot publish or update Tradera listings, detect Tradera sales, sync Tradera orders, relist, manage offers or mark items sold there. Manage Tradera directly and remove sold items from your other channels yourself.

So sold-out protection on this pair runs in one direction only:

• Sells on Etsy first — FLUF knows, because Etsy order sync is live. Your other channels are updated.
• Sells on Tradera first — FLUF does not know. The Etsy listing stays live until you take it down yourself.

Now put that next to how Tradera works. A bid on a Tradera auction is binding, and on a combined auction plus Köp nu listing the fixed price vanishes as soon as somebody bids. A second-hand item is one physical object. Duplicate a live Tradera auction that already has bids onto Etsy and you have created a real path to owing that object to two buyers — a Swedish bidder with a binding bid and an Etsy buyer who has already paid.

The workable discipline, until Tradera order sync ships:

• Do not crosslist an auction that already has bids. Ever. That is the failure case.
• Prefer Köp nu or shop listings for anything you also put on Etsy, and keep open auctions for stock that lives only on Tradera.
• Check Tradera yourself when something sells. It is a manual habit and we would rather tell you to build it than pretend it is automated.
• Start narrow. Ten or twenty genuinely vintage pieces are a manageable manual watch. Four hundred are not.

How to crosslist from Tradera to Etsy

1. Sort the stock first. Run the three-question test over your catalogue before you touch any software.
2. Connect Tradera in FLUF Connect. Follow the prompts; no extension is needed.
3. Import your Tradera catalogue into master product records — title, description, images, price, category.
4. Connect Etsy. Follow the prompts; no extension or app is needed.
5. Select only the items that passed the test.
6. Set the Etsy-specific fields — the vintage attribute and decade, any production-partner disclosure, materials, and a description that evidences the age.
7. Fix a price. An open auction has none to carry across. Price at what you would have been pleased to accept, not at the starting bid, which is deliberately low to attract bidding.
8. Publish, then watch Tradera manually, for the reason above.

What transfers, and what you have to decide

Two rows deserve more than a table cell. Language: Tradera is a Swedish-language marketplace and Etsy’s buyers are overwhelmingly not Swedish, so a copied Swedish title is invisible in Etsy search. Rewriting titles in English is not optional polish here.

The vintage attribute: a field where you assert the item is 20+ years old and give the decade. Tradera has no equivalent and there is nothing for FLUF to map from, so you set it by hand — and it is the claim Etsy will hold you to. Put the evidence in the description while you are there: the backstamp, the label style, the pressing number.

What syncs and what does not

Etsy supports relisting, order sync, fulfilment and marking items sold without an open browser. Tradera currently supports catalogue import only. Manage Tradera listings and sales directly.

What we could not verify, and therefore left out. Etsy’s shop set-up fee, which Etsy publishes as “varies by location” with no figure for any country; the widely repeated $15 is not confirmable, so there is no number for it here. Tradera’s current owner, its active-buyer or membership figure, its category mix after 2023 and its buyer demographics, none of which it publishes. Any figure for how many Tradera sellers also run an Etsy shop, or what share of a typical Tradera catalogue passes the 20-year test — no survey or platform data exists, so the sorting advice on this page is reasoning from the published policies, not a measured finding. And any tax guidance: whether your Etsy sales change your Swedish tax position is a question for an accountant, not a crosslisting guide.
