This guide is for a registered business with branded homeware, small kitchen appliances, or DIY and heating products, looking for a German home-focused shop to sell through. If you sell second-hand furniture as a private person, this marketplace is not open to you, and Kleinanzeigen or eBay will suit you better.

What the home24 marketplace is

home24 is an online furniture and home retailer. Next to its own range, it sells products from other merchants through what it calls a curated marketplace. In a January 2024 company statement, it said third-party sales had passed €100 million over the previous twelve months and that it looks at every product before it goes live. That review is the main difference from an open marketplace: you can expect questions about your product data before your first sale.

What you can sell

home24’s seller FAQ currently lists these areas for new products:

  • Household goods
  • Small kitchen appliances
  • DIY, such as wall tiles and power tools
  • Building-supply items for heating and cooling

The same statement from January 2024 said pet supplies had been added. Furniture itself is not on the FAQ’s current list, so a furniture maker should raise it on the first call instead of assuming a place.

Who can sell

The FAQ sets five conditions:

  • A VAT ID in the country where you want to sell.
  • A warehouse in Europe that delivers straight to the end customer.
  • The ability to accept returns from customers.
  • Product data and customer service in the language of that marketplace.
  • A 13-digit EAN on every product.

The last of these rules out most one-off and unbranded stock. If your products have no barcode today, sort that out before you write to home24, because nothing else on this list can make up for it.

Fees

home24 publishes its headline numbers, which many retailers’ marketplaces do not. You pay a monthly fee of €39, starting after three months, plus a sales commission of 9% to 22% depending on category. The FAQ does not give a rate per category, so ask for the one covering your range before you sign.

That spread matters more than the monthly fee. On a €200 cordless drill, 9% is €18 and 22% is €44. Work out your margin at the rate you are quoted, then allow for delivery if you offer it free, and for returns.

How you apply and how long it takes

  1. Check that you meet the conditions above.
  2. Send the contact form on the seller portal.
  3. Talk to a member of the marketplace team about whether working together makes sense for both sides.
  4. Create your shop from the invitation link. You will need your company registration, VAT number, company address, contact details, terms, imprint and privacy notice.
  5. List your products. A team at home24 checks titles, descriptions and images.

home24 says shops and products should be online one to two weeks after that listing check, if everything is in order.

Delivery, returns and payouts

You choose your carrier, as long as it delivers directly to the customer and you can enter a tracking number, which home24 shows to the buyer. You can set free delivery, your own charges per country for parcels and two-person delivery, or a threshold above which delivery is free.

Customers get 30 days to return an item, and they start the return from their home24 account. They can ask for a return, a discount or spare parts, and you then settle it with them directly. Customer service is also yours, by email, phone or both.

Payment sits in a trust account until the customer should have the item. Fourteen days after you ship, home24 treats the parcel as received, and the money goes to your bank on the next 1st, 11th or 21st. Plan your cash flow around a wait of two to four weeks from dispatch.

One detail catches sellers used to their own shop: a product page can be shared. home24 says it cannot remove a product, because other sellers may be offering on the same page, but you can delete your own offer.

Is it right for you?

It suits a business with barcoded home or DIY products, a European warehouse and enough margin for a commission that can reach 22%. It suits less well anyone without a VAT ID, a seller of used or handmade one-offs, or a very small range where €39 a month takes a large share of each sale.

For other retailers in the same market, see the guides to MediaMarkt and OBI, or the overview of selling in Germany.

Using FLUF Connect with home24

home24 approves its own sellers, so FLUF has no application link for it. On the Channels screen in FLUF Connect its card is marked “Invite only” and covers one country, Germany. When your seller account is live and your products are in home24’s catalogue, choose “Already approved? Connect” on the card.

FLUF can then list items from your inventory that already exist in home24’s catalogue, matched by barcode. A business that keeps the same stock in FLUF for Amazon or its own Shopify store can offer those units here without typing them in again.

Relisting or offer management No

FLUF does not see home24 orders, so a sale there will not lower your stock elsewhere on its own. When an order takes your last unit, mark it sold in FLUF and it comes down from the other marketplaces you list it on.

FLUF’s plans for businesses selling on several channels are on the pricing page. Start with 7 days for £1, then from £9/month to see the Channels screen with your own stock.
