How to Sell on the MediaMarkt Marketplace: Registration, Monthly Fee and Commission
MediaMarkt opens Germany's largest electronics shop to third-party sellers. Registration requirements, the monthly fee, commission structure, and how FLUF Connect fits.
7 days for £1, then from £9/month.
- MediaMarkt is Germany’s largest consumer electronics retailer, and its marketplace is open to registered EU businesses selling computers, audio, appliances and gaming products.
- You need an EU company headquarters, VAT registration, a German-language customer support line, and EU shipment and returns addresses to qualify.
- MediaMarkt charges €39 net per month plus a fair and transparent commission on each sale, with free product listing.
- Once approved, FLUF Connect can list stock that matches the MediaMarkt catalogue by barcode, and keep your inventory in step across all your sales channels.
This guide is for EU-based importers, wholesalers and retailers of consumer electronics who want to reach Germany’s largest online shop. A computer wholesaler stocking desktops and monitors, a smartphone distributor, an appliance importer or a gaming equipment dealer fits. The marketplace is closed to private sellers and to sellers outside the EU.
What MediaMarkt offers sellers
MediaMarkt describes itself as one of Germany’s top 10 online shops, with more than 21 million potential customers and 35 million website visits daily. The marketplace brings together multiple sellers alongside MediaMarkt’s own stock, with each seller’s name and shipping terms shown on the product page as “Verkauf und Versand durch…” (Sale and shipping by…).
You list items from your existing inventory that are already in the MediaMarkt catalogue, matched by barcode. Your shop runs from a single seller area where you manage offers, orders, messages and sales statistics. You keep full control over pricing and inventory; MediaMarkt does not lock you into minimum volumes or rigid contracts.
Who can sell
Sellers must meet specific legal and operational requirements. According to MediaMarkt’s marketplace contact page, you need:
- Company headquarters and bank account in an EU country;
- EU VAT registration;
- A German-language telephone hotline for customer support;
- Direct shipment from the EU;
- A return address within the EU;
- EAN/GTIN barcodes for all items you list.
Private sellers cannot register. If you are selling outside the EU or as an individual, the marketplace is closed to you.
What it costs
MediaMarkt charges €39 net per month to operate a shop. Listing products carries no fee. On each sale you pay a commission described as “fair and transparent”, with rates varying by product category. There is no minimum contract term and you can cancel your subscription at any time.
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Monthly shop fee | €39 net |
| Listing products | No charge |
| Commission per sale | Fair and transparent, by category |
| Minimum term or exit fee | None |
Visibility, ranking and returns
Your items appear in MediaMarkt’s search and category listings, ranked by how well they match the search term, their popularity, stock availability, category relevance, and how recently they were listed. New products are prioritized for up to 14 days after you first upload them, which helps with early visibility.
You set your own return and shipping conditions; MediaMarkt does not impose a platform-wide returns policy. Each seller is the customer’s contract partner for returns, so customers contact you directly to arrange them. Because accurate stock protects your ranking, keep your MediaMarkt inventory in step with your stock on every other channel you sell through.
Registration and approval
The registration process has four steps: submit an online form with your company and shop details, go through verification with a payment provider, upload your products with their barcodes, and receive final approval to go live. MediaMarkt reviews your application and contacts you with the result.
Product categories
The marketplace specializes in consumer electronics. Categories include Computer & Office, TV & Audio, Smartphones & Tariffs, Large Household Appliances, Home & Living, and Gaming & VR. Items on MediaMarkt’s banned list or in categories it has not yet opened cannot be listed.
Using FLUF Connect with MediaMarkt
Once MediaMarkt approves your shop, connect it from the Channels screen in FLUF Connect. FLUF can then list your items using the barcode matching system.
| Task | On MediaMarkt through FLUF Connect |
|---|---|
| Register and get approved | You do this with MediaMarkt |
| Connect your approved seller account | Yes, from the Channels screen |
| List items in the catalogue using barcode | Yes |
| Create new products in the catalogue | No |
| Detect MediaMarkt orders | No. Handle orders in your MediaMarkt seller area. |
