Key Takeaways

  • For merchants running an OpenCart 4.1.0.4 shop who want eBay buyers without retyping the catalogue.
  • FLUF Connect reads stock-tracked simple products from OpenCart. Products built on options, such as size or colour choices, are not covered yet.
  • eBay UK charges business sellers a category percentage, a per-order fee of £0.30 or £0.40 and a 0.35% regulatory operating fee.
  • OpenCart prices come across as base prices before tax. Check the eBay price before you publish.
  • FLUF Connect costs 7 days for £1, then from £9/month.

Is this route for you?

You run your own OpenCart store. The catalogue is in good shape, but the only people who see it are the ones you bring in yourself. eBay already has the shoppers, and you want your products in front of them.

Check three things before going further, because this connection is new and narrow.

  • Your version. FLUF works with OpenCart 4.1.0.4, which OpenCart released on 11 August 2026. Older 3.x and 4.0 shops need upgrading first.
  • Your products. Only simple products with stock tracking switched on are read. A T-shirt sold through a size option does not qualify. Nor do discounts and specials.
  • Your setup. The shop needs a public HTTPS address, and FLUF connects the default store. One OpenCart store per FLUF business.

If most of your range uses options, this is not the right moment. A shop selling single-variant goods, such as parts, tools, collectables, books or homeware, fits well.

What eBay costs an OpenCart merchant

On your own shop you pay hosting and a payment provider. OpenCart itself advertises free downloads and updates and zero monthly fees. eBay is priced per sale.

A shop selling stock for profit is a business seller in eBay’s terms. eBay UK’s fee page sets out a final value fee as a percentage of the total sale, including postage and taxes, plus a per-order fee: £0.30 on orders of £10 or less and £0.40 above that. The percentage depends on category. Books, Comics & Magazines is 9.9%, Collectables and Antiques 10.9%, Clothes, Shoes & Accessories 11.9% and Business, Office & Industrial 12.5%. A regulatory operating fee of 0.35% is added. Listing fees depend on whether you take an eBay Shop subscription.

A worked example. You sell a £40 collectable and the buyer pays £3.50 postage, so the sale totals £43.50.

Line Amount
Final value fee, 10.9% of £43.50 £4.74
Per-order fee £0.40
Regulatory operating fee, 0.35% £0.15
Left from £43.50, before you buy the postage £38.21

That is roughly 12% of the sale. Many merchants price a little higher on eBay than on their own shop to cover it.

What eBay asks for that your OpenCart product may not have

  • A price with tax in it. FLUF reads the OpenCart base price, before tax. eBay buyers see one final price and eBay charges its fee on the total. Decide your eBay price with tax included.
  • Photos that meet eBay’s rules. Every listing needs at least one picture and can have up to 24. eBay’s minimum is 500 x 500 pixels and it recommends about 1600 x 1600. Small thumbnails from an old theme will hold a listing back.
  • A category and item details. OpenCart categories are whatever you named them. eBay has its own category tree, and each category asks for details such as brand, type or model. Fill them in, because buyers filter on them.
  • Postage and returns terms. Your shop’s checkout rules do not carry over. Set delivery and returns in your eBay account before the first listing goes live.
  • A description that stands alone. Remove references to your shop’s offers, delivery pages or contact details.

Two limits are easy to miss. Stock updates between the shop and eBay are periodic, so two people can still buy the last unit at nearly the same moment. Keep a buffer on fast sellers. And orders placed on your shop before you connected do not change stock anywhere, so check your quantities on day one.
