OpenCart to Etsy: List Handmade, Vintage and Craft Stock From Your Store

Check your products fit Etsy first
Etsy’s selling rules allow three kinds of goods: things you make or design yourself, vintage pieces that are 20 years old or more, and craft supplies. If you design products and use a manufacturer or print service, Etsy allows it as long as the design is yours, and you must name the production partner in your listings and shop settings.
Go through your OpenCart catalogue with those three tests and mark what passes. Everything else stays on your own site and on channels without the restriction.
What Etsy costs per sale
Etsy’s fee basics set out the main charges. A listing costs a flat 0.20 USD, whether or not the item sells. When it sells, Etsy takes 6.5% of the total order amount, postage and gift wrap included. On top sits payment processing: 4% + £0.20 for UK shops and 3% + $0.25 for US shops.
Worked example for a UK shop. A hand-thrown mug sells for £40 and the buyer pays £4 postage, so the order is £44:

That leaves about £39 from the £44 before your own postage cost. One more charge can apply. If a buyer arrives through Etsy’s Offsite Ads and buys, Etsy takes 15% of that order, or 12% once your shop has made $10,000 in the past 12 months. At that point the ads become compulsory.
On your OpenCart store, the same £44 order costs you only your card gateway’s fee. Etsy is worth the extra when it brings buyers who would never have found your site.
Setting it up
- Open your Etsy shop if you do not have one, and add your bank details for payouts.
- In OpenCart, download the FLUF Connect extension from the OpenCart Marketplace, install it under Extensions, then Installer, and enable it under Extensions, then Modules.
- In FLUF Connect, open the Channels screen. Enter your shop address and the connection key the module shows, then connect Etsy by signing in to your Etsy account.
- Pick the products that meet Etsy’s rules and list them. Add what Etsy asks for that your store may not hold, such as who made the item and when.

Because OpenCart stock is updated periodically, two buyers could pay for a one-off item at almost the same moment. For single pieces, keep an eye on new orders in the first hours after listing.
Prices go across as OpenCart base prices before tax. If your store shows prices including VAT, set the Etsy price in FLUF to the figure you want buyers to see.
