Image Editing

A good listing photo is usually a decent photo with two things fixed: a distracting background, and a garment that looks like it came out of a bag. FLUF can do both, separately or together, without you opening an editor.

Navigate to: the sparkle button on any listing photo — or the standalone tool at Image Editing, which works with any FLUF account (no subscription needed) and shares the same credits and balance.

Choose your edit

In Image Editing, your selected photos and uploads are on the left, with product search on the right. On smaller screens these appear one above the other. Search by title or SKU, tick products and choose Add. Tick All photos to include their galleries. You can also open a product and choose individual gallery photos, up to 20 photos across products. Drop other images into the upload area in the same workspace.

Product-photo edits create previews for you to review. Add to listing keeps them as additional photos by default. Use as cover changes the main photo only when you choose it. Your originals remain available; marketplace photos are not automatically changed.

These prices are per successful preview, even if you do not use it. Failed edits are not charged. Comparing, downloading, adding and choosing a cover are free.

If smoothing works but background removal fails, you can keep the smoothing preview free.

Edit with AI

Choose Edit with AI, upload one JPG, PNG or WebP photo (up to 8MB), and describe what you want. Try “Show these jeans on an adult model in a bright studio.” You can optionally add a reference photo for the person or setting; without one, AI uses your description. Review the preview, then Download photo. Recent AI photos let you reopen an edit. From a listing, choose Add to listing instead.

Save a look to reuse a named prompt, with or without a reference photo saved to your account. Applying a look fills in your choices; it does not start a paid edit. If its reference is no longer available, choose another before continuing.

Each refinement is a new paid generation at the rate above. Check colour, logos, text and wear before using an AI photo: details can change. Check your marketplace's rules on AI images.

Edit several product photos

Crop one photo

Open a product in Image Editing, choose a photo, then select Crop image. Adjust the frame, rotate or zoom, and choose Save crop. Cropping is free and adds a separate photo; your original and cover stay unchanged. Crop each photo individually. Completed uploaded results also have a Crop button; the new PNG stays in your results for downloading without replacing the previous image.

Batch edits

In Image Editing, select several products' main photos, tick gallery photos as you browse, or choose Select all photos within a product. The combined limit is 20 photos.

Under Edit selected photos, choose AI, Remove background, White background, or Smooth & remove. For AI, write a shared prompt and optionally add a reference or apply a saved look. Each photo gets its own preview. Compare before and after, approve your favourites, then choose Add or add them individually. Originals stay available.

Want a white version of a finished preview? Choose White background. It creates a separate preview to review, keeping the previous result. The extra credit is charged only if the edit succeeds; it is not automatically added to your listing.

Open Recent edits to review progress or previous results. Fold it away when starting something new. Cancel waiting photos whenever you like; photos already processing may still finish and charge. Retry failed photos deliberately; for AI, check the prompt and optional reference before retrying. If cleanup is interrupted, that attempt costs nothing and is not automatically repeated. If payment is still being confirmed, do not start the same edit again—check its progress or contact support.

Each successful preview is charged at the rates above. There is no upfront batch charge. If you run out of credits, top up and resume the waiting photos. Unfinished queues expire after 24 hours.

Use this workspace in a desktop or mobile browser. In the mobile app, open More → Image Editing to choose phone photos, edit batches, crop individual results and save them to Photos. You can also open the editor from Create. If it is missing, update the app and close and reopen it.

Where you can use them

On a photo you're looking at. Open a product from Listings, hover the photo and click the sparkle button. Pick one of the three options and it applies to that photo. Your original is kept, so you can undo.

Automatically as you create listings. In the listing settings, switch on Smooth creases with AI. From then on, photos get steamed before the background comes off, so items lie flat without you choosing it each time.

Across a lot of listings at once. Select the listings, open Actions, and choose Remove Backgrounds to clean every photo on all of them. Smoothing is a per-job tick rather than something the bulk run inherits from your settings — a 300-photo job costs three times as much with smoothing on, so we'd rather you decide that deliberately each time.

On any photo at all. The standalone tool takes photos that aren't attached to a listing — drag in up to 20 at once and download them together as a ZIP.

What smoothing actually does

Smoothing reduces storage creases. Review the result to make sure colour, texture, labels and wear still accurately represent the item.

Use it when the item is genuinely fine and the photo just makes it look tired: jersey, cotton, linen, silk, anything that creases in storage.

Skip it when the creasing is the item — pleats, ruching, crinkle finishes, deliberate distressing. And skip it on close-ups of printed labels, care instructions and brand tags: small text is the hardest thing to redraw, so we keep smoothing to the main photo rather than the detail shots.

Getting good results

• Well-lit and in focus. Neither edit can add detail that isn't in the shot.
• Leave a little space around the item so the edge of the product is visible.
• Higher resolution is better — you can always scale down afterwards.
• A slightly contrasting surface helps if the item is pale.

If a photo comes back unchanged, that's deliberate. When a shot is filled edge to edge with the product — a close-up of fabric, a stitched label, a texture detail — there's no background in the frame to remove, and cutting one out anyway would eat into the item. We'd rather hand a good photo back untouched than damage it. If you want a detail shot on a clean background, reshoot it with a bit of surface visible around the item.

If a cut-out leaves something you don't want at the edge, crop it. Open the product, hover a photo and click the scissors icon: drag a box around the part you want to keep and save. The crop replaces that photo in your gallery, and you can still undo the background removal separately if you'd rather start again.

Processing time varies. Simple background edits are usually quicker; smoothing and AI edits can take longer. Upload several photos together to keep working while they process.

Backgrounds you can choose

• Transparent — PNG with no background (default)
• White — clean white, which is what most marketplaces want
• Custom colour — any colour you like

Supported formats

In: JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF (iPhone photos, straight off your phone — no converting), AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF.

Out: PNG for transparency, JPG for solid backgrounds.

Your gallery

The standalone upload tool keeps your last 100 processed edits. Product-photo batches are reopened from Recent edits in the same workspace.

• Compare and undo: your original is never overwritten. Open any photo to flip between the

original and the edited version, and download whichever you prefer.

• Find things fast: sort newest or oldest first, or narrow to a date range.
• Bulk download: tick as many as you like and get them as a single ZIP. Tick one and it

downloads directly.

Credits & pricing

Photo editing runs on credits. 100 free credits come with every paid FLUF Connect plan, and your balance is shown at the top of the page.

See the edit table above for costs. Adding a white background to an existing result is a separate paid edit.

Credits are FLUF Connect credits — one balance for the whole app. They also pay for product creations once you have used your plan's monthly allowance: 5 credits per extra creation.
