Attribute Mapping

Attribute Mapping

Attribute Mapping ensures your products are placed in the correct categories when crosslisted to different marketplaces.

Navigate to: Listings → Mapping

Page Layout

The mapping page has three sections:

  1. Source Categories — Categories from your source marketplace
  2. Destination Categories — Categories on your target marketplace
  3. Your Mappings — All active mappings (yours and FLUF defaults)

Attribute Field

You can map two types of attributes:

  • Product Categories — Product type/category mapping
  • Brands — Brand name mapping between platforms

Why Mapping Matters

Each marketplace has its own category system:

  • Depop uses different categories than eBay
  • Vinted has European fashion categories
  • Shopify uses custom product types

Attribute mapping tells FLUF how to translate categories between platforms.

How Mapping Works

Automatic Mapping

FLUF automatically maps common categories using AI:

  • Exact Match — Categories with identical names
  • AI Generated — Smart mapping based on category meaning
  • Confidence Score — How confident the AI is in the mapping

Manual Override

You can create custom mappings when:

  • The automatic mapping is incorrect
  • You want specific category placement
  • A category doesn't have an automatic mapping

Creating a Category Mapping

Step 1: Select Source

  1. Choose Source Channel (where product originates)
  2. Select Source Category from dropdown

Step 2: Select Destination

  1. Choose Destination Channel (where you're crosslisting)
  2. Browse or search for the correct category
  3. Select the best matching category

Step 3: Save

  • Click Save Mapping
  • Future crosslistings will use this mapping

Gender-Aware Mapping

FLUF understands gender context:

  • Women's → Women's/Ladies categories
  • Men's → Men's/Gents categories
  • Kids → Children's/Youth categories
  • Unisex → Maps appropriately per platform

The mapping page shows gender badges to help you verify correct mapping.

Troubleshooting

"Category not mapped" error

  1. Go to Mapping
  2. Find the unmapped category
  3. Create a manual mapping
  4. Retry crosslisting

Wrong category on marketplace

  1. Check existing mapping for that category
  2. Edit or delete incorrect mapping
  3. Create correct mapping
  4. Re-crosslist the affected products

Category missing from dropdown

  • Some marketplaces have thousands of categories
  • Use the search function to find categories
  • If still missing, the category may not be available

Best Practices

Review AI mappings:

  • Check auto-generated mappings are accurate
  • Override if AI made mistakes

Map before bulk crosslisting:

  • Set up mappings for your main categories first
  • Prevents errors during bulk operations

Keep mappings updated:

  • Marketplaces occasionally change categories
  • Review mappings if errors start occurring
