Use a Smart Pricing progression schedule to change prices over time, set a minimum price, and optionally reset the price. Start with Set up Smart Pricing rules if you need to choose a channel, market anchor or pricing adjustment.

Creating a Progression Schedule
Progression schedules automate price changes over time. Use them for clearance markdowns, flash sales, seasonal pricing, and more.
- Go to the Pricing Rules tab
- Click Create Schedule
- Choose a preset for quick setup, or build a custom schedule

Custom Schedule Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Type | Recurring (repeats on a cadence), Custom steps (define your own day-by-day drops), or One-time (specific date) |
| Frequency | Every N days, weekly on a specific day, or monthly (Recurring type) |
| Step | How much to change per step: percentage or fixed amount |
| Floor | The lowest the price can go: % from original, £ off original, fixed minimum, market floor, or cost + % margin |
| Reset | Optionally reset price back to original after hitting the floor |
| Applies to | All products, specific pricing rules, or specific products you hand-pick |
| Strategy ID | A short ID (e.g. steady-markdown) you can reference from a bulk-upload spreadsheet — see below |
Custom Steps (day-by-day drops)
Choose Custom steps as the Type when you want a schedule of specific drops on specific days rather than one repeating percentage. Add a row for each drop — a day and the % change for that day — and use + Add step for as many as you like:
| Day | Change |
|---|---|
| 1 | -15% |
| 3 | -10% |
| 7 | -5% |
Days count from when the product is enrolled into the strategy (at crosslist time, or when auto-enroll picks it up). Each drop compounds off the current price, so a £100 item becomes £85 on day 1, £76.50 on day 3, and £72.68 on day 7. Pricing stops after the last step. This is the flexible version of the Auction-Style Descent preset — start from that preset and tweak the days and percentages, or build your own from scratch. An optional stopping floor still applies as a safety net.
How Floors Work
Floors prevent prices from dropping below a safe minimum:
- % from original - Stop at a percentage off the original price (e.g. 40% means a £50 item won't go below £30)
- £ off original - Stop a fixed amount below the original price (e.g. 5 means a £40 item won't go below £35, and a £12 item won't go below £7). Like "% from original", this scales per item — unlike "Fixed amount", which is the same price for everything on the schedule.
- Fixed amount - Never go below a specific price (e.g. £5 minimum)
- Market floor - Don't go below the market's lowest price
- Cost + % margin - Never go below your item cost plus a chosen margin (e.g. cost + 20%). Requires costs set under Cost Management.
When the floor is reached, the schedule stops. If you've enabled Reset, the price reverts to the original after a configurable number of days, and the cycle can begin again.
Attaching a Progression Schedule to a Pricing Rule
To combine market-based pricing with time-based progressions:
- Create your schedule first (or use a preset)
- When creating or editing a pricing rule, select the schedule from the dropdown
- Products matched by this pricing rule will now progress through the schedule automatically
Without a schedule: The pricing rule's price is applied once when a product is crosslisted (static pricing). Use Backfill to apply prices to products already listed.
With a schedule: Prices are recalculated on a recurring basis and pushed directly to the marketplace. Products are automatically enrolled into the schedule when crosslisted.
Assigning a strategy to specific products
As well as "All products" or a pricing rule, you can apply a strategy to individual items you hand-pick. A product can be on one strategy at a time. Three ways to assign:
- When creating/editing a strategy — set Applies to → Specific products and tick the items.
- From your listings — on the Crosslist page, turn on the Pricing strategy column (Columns menu), then click an item's cell to pick a strategy (or None to remove it). To do many at once, select items and use Actions → Smart Pricing.
- From a bulk-upload spreadsheet — give each strategy a Strategy ID (shown on the strategy card, e.g.
steady-markdown), then add a Pricing Strategy column to your upload sheet on Listings → Create and put that ID in each row. The item joins the strategy automatically the moment you crosslist it.
Pausing and Resuming
You can pause price progressions at any time:
- Pause a pricing rule: Click the pause icon next to the pricing rule on the Pricing Rules tab. All products under that rule stop receiving price updates.
- Resume: Click the play icon to restart progressions from where they left off.
Pausing does not revert prices. Products stay at their current price until resumed.
Check scheduled changes
The Overview tab shows upcoming price changes. The Log tab records completed changes and channel errors. If prices are not changing, check that the rule is active, the schedule is attached, and its next step is due.
If a price drops too far, pause the rule, review the schedule floor and the rule's Price Guard, then correct the price before resuming. Pausing does not restore an earlier price.
Pricing rules also apply on relisting. For discounts offered privately to buyers, review offer policies, including whether offers compound with Smart Pricing.
For spreadsheet enrolment, see Import listings in bulk.
